SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
 
Kilcoy Sunday 2 June 2024 – Race 4
Trainer T. Lambourn pleaded guilty under AR 232(b) for failing to comply with a requirement of the direction issued by the QRIC Stewards, to present Italian Virtuoso on course at the Kilcoy race meeting three hours prior to the advertised start time of the race as prescribed under the Elevated TCO2 Presentation Policy. After considering submissions on penalty, Stewards imposed a $500 fine.  
 
Gatton Thursday 20 June 2024 – Race 4
DOLLY’ A NATURAL – Trainer J. Brown reported the mare had pulled up with a poor recovery and that it was now the intention to retire the mare. Stewards advised J. Brown that if circumstances changed, that DOLLY’S A NATURAL would require a veterinary clearance and trial to the satisfaction of Stewards before racing again.
 
GENERAL

Race 3: 6 HIMEJI – G. Walters +1kg (56.5kg)

Race 1: Perpetual Tricia Nan O’Brien QTIS Two-Year-Old Maiden
Handicap 1200 metres
 
HELL MARCH – Bumped at the start. Raced keenly in the early stages. For several strides near the 200m, rider N. Callow lost the use of both reins, resulting in him becoming unbalanced. Rider N. Callow reported the colt raced keen early, so he elected to take a sit off SNOWY FINN in the early stages. He said HELL MARCH worked well into the race and when asked for an effort on straightening, although he momentarily lost the use of his reins near the 200m, he felt the colt was somewhat disappointing. He added when unsaddling HELL MARCH, he noticed the colt had some issues with both of its hind plates and said this may have affected its performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the colt had lost its near-hind plate and shifted the off-hind plate, causing a minor injury to the hoof. A sample was taken for analysis.
 
VANILLA TWIST – Slow to begin.
 
MISHANI BRAZILIAN – Reared as the start was effected and lost ground. Rider L. Miller was severely reprimanded pursuant to AR 132(7)(a)(i) for consecutive use of the whip in the home straight.
 
A ROYAL SORT – Bumped HELL MARCH at the start.
 
MISHANI INVINCIBLE – Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
 
Race 2: THE TERRIFIC TESS Maiden Handicap 1050 metres
 
JANNIK– Was fractious behind the barriers and in the gates. Began awkwardly. Near the 900m, was steadied and contacted the rail, when avoiding the heels of QUEEN OF THE SKIES (W. O’Connell), which shifted in away from the heels of DOMINANCE. Rider W. O’Connell was advised to exercise greater care. Trainer A. Campton was advised the gelding must perform to the satisfaction of Stewards in a jump-out prior to resuming.
 
MAWSONS EXPEDITION – Began awkwardly.
 
QUEEN OF THE SKIES – Began awkwardly.
 
Race 3: ROLLICKING RACHIE HARMSTON Maiden Handicap 2000 metres
 
ALWAYS SPLIT TENS – Rider J. Guthmann-Chester reported from the wide gate, he had to make use of the gelding to cross but then was unable to settle ALWAYS SPLIT TENS in the early stages. He said the gelding then settled in the middle stages of the race but when asked for an effort approaching the home turn, did not respond and when placed under pressure in the straight laid out. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
HOW YA BEEN ANYWAY – Shifted out on jumping. Raced wide without cover for the majority.
 
SMOKIN MATCH – Lost ground on leaving the gates when tightened for room between ALWAYS SPLIT TENS and HOW YA BEEN ANYWAY, which shifted out. Raced wide without cover from the 1200m before pressing forward to cross to the lead near the 900m. Rider A. Spinks reported his mount laid out rounding the home turn and in the straight.
 
HIMEJI – Approaching the 1600m, steadied and shifted out across the heels of HOW YA BEEN ANYWAY after being tightened momentarily by THE HIPPY, which also shifted out at that point. HIMEJI then continued to shift out making the turn at the 1600m. After the race, the gelding flipped over in the tie ups and underwent a veterinary examination, which revealed lameness in the off-hind leg. Trainer M. Morrison was advised HIMEJI would require veterinary clearance prior to resuming.
 
BETTER THAN LOVE – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after the gelding became fractious in the barriers and got its leg up. Reared as the start was effected and lost ground.
 
PRIDE OF PASSION – Began awkwardly.
 
THE HIPPY – In the early stages raced ungenerously.   
 
Race 4: HARMY'S GOLDY FIVE-0 BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1050 metres
 
BAUHINIA ROCK – Began awkwardly.
 
GET WHAT YOU GIVE – Slow to begin. Raced wide without cover in the early and middle stages.
 
MY DOG DIESEL – Checked near the 400m.
 
GHOST HUNTER – Raced wide without cover in the early and middle stages.
 
AIRSTRIKE – Slow to muster speed on jumping.
 
Rider D. Peisley pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding pursuant to AR 131(a) in that near the 400m, he permitted his mount to shift out when not clear of MY DOG DIESEL which was tightened for room onto GHOST HUNTER and checked. Rider D. Peisley’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of nine (9) days, commencing midnight Sunday 30 June 2024, concluding midnight Tuesday 9 July 2024. When assessing penalty, account was taken of his riding record, guilty plea and the careless riding guidelines.  
 
Race 5: QUEEN JEBBIE BENCHMARK 75 Handicap 1540 metres
 
THIS'LLBETHEONE – Blundered on jumping.
 
EARLY THOUGHTS – Raced keenly in the middle stages. Over the concluding stages raced tight to the inside of PERNELL and as a consequence was not able to be ridden fully to the end of the race.
 
JOVITA – Re-saddled behind the barriers. Obliged to race wide around the home turn.
 
PERNELL – Slow to begin.
 
REDENTE CHOICE – Began awkwardly.
 
Race 6: THE ALEXIS AND VIVIEN HARMSTON BENCHMARK 58
Handicap 1200 metres
 
ALMIGHTY RISING – Raced wide without cover from the 800m.
 
MISSION TO WIN – Began awkwardly. Rider N. Callow reported the gelding, which was first up today, travelled well until asked for an effort on straightening, where it failed to respond and was disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
TARGETED – Shortly after the start, was momentarily tightened between ALMIGHTY RISING and RAPID DUDE, which shifted out.
 
GOING TO THE SUN – Raced wide without cover from the 700m.
 
RAPID DUDE – As rider M. Bennett was unable to fulfill his riding engagement, he was replaced by Jockey T. Marshall. The explanation tendered by M. Bennett was accepted.
 
CLAUDIUS – Checked on leaving the gates when tightened between ALMIGHTY RISING and SHOTGUN DIVA, which was taken in by GOING TO THE SUN. Raced wide without cover from the 700m.
 
Race 7: THE ALCHEMY ASIA BENCHMARK 60 Handicap 1900 metres
 
RUMEUR (NZ) – Raced wide without cover from the 800m.
 
AIDEN – Bumped with LADY TOWNSON (NZ) on jumping. Raced wide without cover from the 800m.
 
HULKAMANIA – Rider T. Marshall was spoken to advisedly regarding the raising of his whip arm above shoulder height. Trainer A. Campton was fined $200 pursuant to LR 67(1) for the raceday declaration of a rider.
 
LADY TOWNSON (NZ) – Bumped with AIDEN on jumping.
 
VON BEE (NZ) – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
TORQUE LEICA STAR – When asked to comment on the apparent improved performance, stable representative B. Kendrick explained that at the mare’s most recent start when making a run in the home straight, was checked and finished well back. He said today the mare was stepping up in distance and its performance was not unexpected.
 
BLUE AS BLUE (NZ) – Raced keenly in the early stages. Held up for a run from passing the 400m until near the 300m when brushed by TORQUE LEICA STAR and became momentarily unbalanced.
 
DON QUIXOTE – Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
SHOPPING WISE – Blundered on jumping, momentarily unbalancing rider Y Lewis. Held up for clear running from the 400m until the 200m.
