GENERAL

As Rider P. Hammersley was unable to make the weight for NOBLE STYLE in race two, he was replaced by rider A. Thompson. Subsequently rider P. Hammersley was fined $200 under AR190(3).

The explanation tended by trainer A. Campton for failing to withdraw TUQIRI (Race 7) and KAREEM (Race 8) in accordance with LR36(6), was accepted.

Race 1: ARRON KENNEDY MEMORIAL MAIDEN HANDICAP 1200 M

The start was delayed by approximately three minutes when XTRA LOUD proved difficult to load.

FLYING TING LOK: Laid out rounding the home turn.

MEAN APPROACH: Slow to begin.

XTRA LOUD: As rider M. Potgieter was delayed in traffic, he was replaced by rider S. Galloway. Difficult to load delaying start. Raced keen in the middle stages. Weakened passing the 300m. Trainer D. Gafa was notified a warming will be recorded against the mare.

VIGANOTTO: Slow to begin. Apprentice C. Waddell could offer no explain for the performance of VIGANOTO, which tailed the field throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

OPTIMUS MAXIMUS: For a short distance approaching the 400m was awkwardly placed between runners. In the early part of the home straight laid in.


Race 2: MARTIN COLLINS AUSTRALIA QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD BENCHMARK 68 HANDICAP 1200 M

NOBLE STYLE: In the early part of the start laid in.

SOO SWEET: Slow into stride. Near the 1100m eased to avoid the heels of NOBLE STYLE (A. Thompson), which was shifting to the outside of FIVE STAR VIXEN when not clear. Rider A. Thompson was severely reprimanded.

WHISKEY DANCER: Raced keenly in the middle stages.

LADY SHOTGUN: Slow to begin.

WHAT A WEEKEND: Slow into stride.


Race 3: PENGUIN CONCRETE MAIDEN PLATE 1540 M

BRAMBLE BAY: As rider M. Gray was delayed in traffic, he was replaced by rider S. Galloway. On leaving the gates was tightened by WINDY WHEELS, which began awkwardly and shifted out.

RANGER ENJAY: Raced wide without cover in the middle stages.

ALL ABOUT ARTIE: Began awkwardly, badly unbalancing rider M. Cahill, shifted out and bumped SMOKIN MATCH.

MIDNIGHT MADNESS: Rider M. Hellyer reported the gelding raced keenly and consequently settled further forward.

SMOKIN MATCH: Bumped at the start. Laid out approaching and rounding the home turn.

WINDY WHEELS: Began awkwardly and shifted out.


Race 4: KOLLOSCHE BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP 1050 M

I AM VOODOO: Began awkwardly and blundered.

COSMIC SERENADE: Just prior to the winning post, was brushed by VELOCE METEOR, which was improving quickly and raced close to the heels of SONY DAZE.

TARGETED: Reared on jumping and lost ground.

GERETY: At the start, momentarily tightened between CAPTIAN ARTIE and COSMIC SERENADE, which shifted in. Raced wide without cover from the 900m.

VELOCE METEOR: Bounded on leaving the gates. Raced keen in the early stages.

VELVET: For several strides near the 300m, was brushed by I AM VOODOO, which when racing tight to the inside of VELOCE METEOR, laid in away from that gelding.

CAPTAIN ARTIE: Raced wide without cover from the 800m.

Race 5: THE BIG BENS BENCHMARK 72 HANDICAP 1540 M

SUKHBIR: Bumped PATTI WAGGIN on jumping.

GENTLE PRINCE: Raced keenly in the early stages and wide without cover from the 900m.

SILVER WARRIOR (SAF): Slow to begin. Near the 1300m steadied from the heels of SINGULAR.

MIO SORRENTO: Began awkwardly.

FREDDIE: In the straight laid in.

PATTI WAGGIN: Trainer J. Bellamy was reprimanded under AR106(2) for failure to present the gelding with the correct gear. Bumped on jumping.

Race 6: NOVOTEL BRISBANE AIRPORT HOTEL BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1200 M

ZOUPERB: Raced wide without cover from the 800m.

IRING: Slow to begin and the slow to muster speed.

SISTINE EXPLORER: Trainer J. Smerdon was reprimanded under LR67(1) failing to declare P. Hammersley, as the rider of the mare by the prescribed time.

ALMIGHTY RISING: Raced keenly in the middle stages.

DARK CHILL: Held up rounding the home turn. Had difficulty obtaining a clear running in the early part of the straight until shifting to the outside of GALAXY GENERAL passing the 200m.

SWANIC BOOM: Raced keenly in the early stages and wide without cover.

Race 7: SCI-FLEET HINO BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP 1900 M

AIDEN: Passing the 1500m was momentarily awkward on the inside of FIREBOLT. Approaching the 1400m, was again awkwardly placed on the inside of FIREBOLT, then shifted out, inconveniencing DON QUIXOTE. Raced wide without cover from the 800m.

KAREEM: Bounded on leaving the gate.

CHAMPAGNES ON ME (NZ): Raced wide without cover for a short distance passing the 900m.

OSAKA MISS: Held up for a run from the 400m until the 250m.

DRAKE PASSAGE (NZ): Began awkwardly.


Race 8: JARED POOLE DESIGN ARCHITECTS BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP 1540 M

MISSION TO WIN: Raced keenly in the early to middle stages.

HELL FOLLOWS: After being placed in the gates became fractious, got its near hind leg up, was removed and underwent a veterinary examination. This delayed the start by approximately two minutes. Slow to begin.

REPHRASE: Obliged to race wide round the home turn.

TOROS: Raced wide without cover in the early stages.

KASEAR: Raced wide without cover from the 800m.

LUTON HOO (NZ): Shifted in on jumping and bumped THE GOLDEN SOUL.

THE GOLDEN SOUL: Bumped on jumping.

GREGARIOUS: Raced keen in the lead.

REAL MINT: Began awkward.

EL KABONG: Apprentice G. Cahill was fined $200 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on 9 occasions prior to the 100m, 4 more than permitted. In assessing penalty, account was taken of his record which indicated this was his first offence under this rule, the totality of whip strikes (11) and the whip Penalty Guidelines.
