STEWARDS REPORT

AQUIS PARK GOLD COAST POLY TURF CLUB

TUESDAY 5TH NOVEMBER 2024

WEATHER – Fine   TRACK RATING – Synthetic RAIL – True

OFFICIALS

Stewards – D. McMahon (Chair), B. Wright, K. Daly, S. Fletcher, L. De Witt-Rowson (Cadet)

GENERAL

As Jockey P. Hammersley was injured and not riding at today’s meeting, riding replacements were made as per the Stewards summary. Jockey Hammersley was advised that he would require a medical clearance prior to next riding.

Trainer A. Campton was fined $500 pursuant to LR36(6)(a) for failing to scratch dual acceptor HIDDEN MELODY by the prescribed time.

Race 1: AC-TEC SERVICES QTIS THREE-YEARS-OLD MAIDEN HANDICAP  1050 M

BILLY BOOM – Apprentice J. Williams, rider of the fifth placegetter BILLY BOOM, in the presence of senior rider M. Cahill, pleaded guilty to a charge pursuant to AR131(b) for failing to ride his mount out to the finish line. Apprentice Williams’ license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 7 days to commence midnight 11th November 2024 and to expire midnight 18th November 2024. In determining penalty, Stewards took into account the half head margin between fourth and fifth placegetters and were of the opinion the actions of apprentice Williams did cost BILLY BOOM fourth place, his guilty plea, status of an apprentice and record in relation to this rule.

BUTWEDID – Raced wide for the majority of the event.

TARMAC – As no other suitable senior rider was available, Stewards permitted apprentice J. McMurray to ride the gelding.

MISHANI HITMAN – Reared as the start was effected and lost ground. Trainer D. Stanbridge was advised a warning would be placed on the barrier manners of MISHANI HITMAN. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.

THE BLAZE – Slow to begin.

SKYPORT LANE – Began awkwardly.

Race 2: BRETT’S MOWING WYNNUM BM58 HANDICAP  1540 M

ELLE MAGIC – From the wide barrier restrained at the start to a rearward position closer to the rail.

VALENTINO TEASE – When asked to comment jockey C. Waddell could offer no explanation for the performance of the mare which tailed out.

Race 3: BMD MAIDEN PLATE  1540 M

ADVERTISE – When asked to comment on the performance jockey J. Taylor reported the gelding resented racing in the kickback.

FAST DA – Bumped on jumping. Raced wide in the early stages of the event.

FRANKEL MOON – Slow to begin.

MEANASENKO – Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped FAST DA. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

TAKIN'HELL – Began awkwardly. Jockey S. Cormack reported following the event the horse was making an abnormal breathing noise. A post-race veterinary examination revealed an abnormal breathing noise, consistent with a dorsally displaced soft palate. Trainer P. Duncan advised TAKIN’HELL would now undergo veterinary treatment and would report back these results before returning to racing.

LOVE 'N' GAMES – As apprentice J. Williams did not ride for acceptable reasons, Stewards permitted jockey R. Jamieson to ride the gelding.

YOU'LL NEVER GUESS – Stewards permitted the mare to race without a nasal strip when it was unable to be fitted.

Race 4: MERCEDES-BENZ GOLD COAST BM58 HANDICAP  1200 M

KING KRYPTOS – Bumped heavily shortly after the start and taken in. Taken wider near the 900m.

BETTER THAN BOOZE – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after having raced on Thursday 31/10/24 at Kilcoy and was cleared to start. Approaching the 900m got its head up and shifted out taking KING KRYPTOS wider. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Inclined to lay out from the 600m until the entrance of the home straight.

STILL READY – Shifted in abruptly shortly after the start and bumped heavily with KING KRYPTIOS. Raced wide for the majority of the event.

BRECHEN – Raced in restricted room and bumped near the 700m. Held up from the 400m until having to be steadied and shift out across heels passing the 200m to obtain clear running.

JULIETA – Bumped on jumping. Approaching the 700m raced in restricted room and bumped between BRECHEN and STILL READY (S. Champkin) which shifted in when not fully clear. Apprentice S. Champkin was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances. Raced wide for the majority of the event. Raced greenly when placed under pressure in the home straight.

MADAME MOTH – Bumped on jumping. Weakened when placed under pressure in the home straight. Jockey S. Cormack reported the mare, which was first up, would derive fitness benefit from today’s run. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

Race 5: EAST COAST CONCRETE MAIDEN PLATE  1200 M

MINTO'S POWER – Jumped out at the start and bumped TANGO SPIRIT.
