QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT AQUIS PARK GOLD COAST POLY TURF CLUB SATURDAY 9TH NOVEMBER 2024 WEATHER – Fine TRACK RATING – Synthetic RAIL – True OFFICIALS Stewards – D. McMahon (Chair), B. Wright, K. Daly, P. Reardon, A. Dowsett (Cadet) GENERAL Stewards approved the following overweight allowances at today’s meeting:Race 2 – RUDIMENTARY – M. Hellyer +1kg (55kg) Race 1: SMSFLC CLASS 1 PLATE 1200M DELIBES – Slow to begin. Raced keenly in the middle stages. Inconvenienced near the 900m, had to be steadied and shifted out. GOTEBO – Began awkwardly and lost ground. WATERMELON – Raced wide throughout the event. THE BELL JAR – Near the 900m when over-racing, improved to the inside of the heels of WARRIOR CHIEF and had to be restrained. Race 2: CARPET CALL CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1540M GENERAL BARCA – When asked to comment on the performance jockey M. Cahill stated the gelding travelled comfortably in a favourable position throughout the race, however when placed under pressure in the home straight was somewhat disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. SEEYA LATER GATER – From the wide barrier, restrained at the start to a rearward position closer to the rail. Leaving the 800m, when the pace of the race slackened, improved onto the heels of RUDIMENTARY and had to be steadied. Cast its off-fore plate in running. GUS THE BUS – Began awkwardly. Over raced in the early and middle stages. RUDIMENTARY – Slow to begin. Race 3: EAST COAST CONCRETE BENCHMARK 68 HANDICAP 1200M FAMOUS PEDRILLE – Laid out approaching and rounding the home turn. OUR FREE SPIRIT – Laid out approaching and rounding the home turn. ALL'S FAIR – Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages. WHISKEY DANCER – Began very awkwardly and lost ground. Over-raced in the early stages before being permitted to stride forward to race outside the leader from the 700m. GERRYMANDER – Jockey J. Taylor reported the mare did not appreciate the track kickback today and advised that connections may now give consideration to sending GERRYMANDER for a spell. NEW HAMPSHIRE – Slow to begin. Race 4: TITAN GARAGES & SHEDS BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP 1900M CHERBOURG – Slow to begin. When the pace of the race slackened turning out of the home straight on the first occasion, steadied from heels of HIT’EM UP and shifted out. Over-raced in the middle stages. Apprentice C. Sutherland was severely reprimanded pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(i) for using the whip on consecutive occasions prior to the 100m. PAPAL MISS – From the wide barrier, restrained at the start to a rearward position closer to the rail. CHAMPAGNES ON ME – Raced keenly in the early stages when being restrained to obtain cover. Apprentice J. Williams reported the mare was disappointing when placed under pressure in the early stages of the home straight, and therefore desisted from further pressuring CHAMPAGNES ON ME from the 250m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer G. Gauci-Marchant advised Stewards that the mare would now be sent for a spell. FIDDLER ONTHE ROOF – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. MAGIC OF MILLO – Slow to muster speed in the early stages. HIT ‘EM UP – Approaching the first turn, when the pace of the race slackened, improved onto the heels of CHAMPAGNES ON ME and had to be steadied. Apprentice J. Williams, the rider of CHAMPAGNES ON ME was advised to exercise greater care when easing the pace of the race. Race 5: CORPSURE INSURANCE BROKING BENCHMARK 62 HANDICAP 1050M I AM VOODOO – Near the 250m raced in restricted room for a short distance between SERIGALA and READY TO TORQUE which laid out before being corrected. RUSTIC BOOM – Shifted out under pressure from leaving the 100m. READY TO TORQUE – Began awkwardly. Laid out near the 250m before being corrected. SERIGALA – Near the 250m raced in restricted room for a short distance between HIDDEN MELODY and I AM VOODOO. HIDDEN MELODY – Slow to begin. Apprentice J. McMurray was reminded of his obligations under AR132(6)(b) regarding using his whip in a manner that raises his arm above shoulder height. Race 6: CORPSURE CYBER INSURANCE BENCHMARK 68 HANDICAP 1540M AVENUE OF STARS – Slow to begin. SILVER WARRIOR – Laid in rounding the home turn. ORIGINAL GLAZE – Began awkwardly. WONFORWAZZA – From the wide barrier restrained at the start to a rearward position closer to the rail. Over raced in the early and middle stages. CADERAS – Slow to begin. Raced keenly in the middle stages of the event. TOROVISTA – Laid out from the 500m until the entrance to the home straight. Jockey M. Cahill reported the gelding resented racing in close proximity to ORIGINAL GLAZE particularly between the 800m and the home turn. CAPITAL BOSS – Jockey K. Matheson was severely reprimanded pursuant to AR132(6)(b) for using his whip in a manner that raised his arm above shoulder height. HAYAKU – Raced keenly in the middle stages of the event.
