QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT AQUIS PARK GOLD COAST SATURDAY 23RD NOVEMBER 2024 WEATHER – Overcast TRACK RATING – Synthetic RAIL – True OFFICIALS Stewards – D. McMahon (Chair), B. Wright, S. Fletcher, P. Reardon, A. Dowsett (Cadet), P. Gore (Cadet). GENERAL Stewards approved the following overweight allowance at today’s meeting: Race 4 – RUDIMENTARY – M. Hellyer +1kg (55kg) Race 1: ABKJ LAWYERS RACE DAY 2024 MAIDEN PLATE 2000M BLOOD RED – Slow to begin. FINE AND RARE – Jumped out at the start and bumped READY ENABLE. When asked to comment on the performance, jockey S. Cormack advised that the gelding was not suited to racing on the synthetic surface and when placed under pressure, proved disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. FRANKEL MOON – Began awkwardly and lost ground. MEANASENKO – Laid in rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight. READY ENABLE – Bumped at the start. Raced wide from leaving the 1200m. WINDFLOWER – When asked to comment on the performance, apprentice S. Champkin advised it was her intention to lead and when racing to that the outside of the leader MEANASENKO, the mare commenced to over race and she permitted her mount to stride forward. She added that from the 600m, whilst weakening the mare was inclined to lay out. Race 2: MIDWAY METALS – BACK A WINNER MAIDEN HANDICAP 1540M FAST DA – Slow to begin. Raced wide in the early stages before being permitted to stride forward and obtain the lead near the 900m. NEO DIAMOND – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout. BUSTERKICK – Leaving 1400m improved onto heels and was steadied. SOMAX – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. ARGUABLE – Jumped in at the start and bumped TANGO SPIRIT. Held up for clear running approaching and rounding the home turn. Jockey B. Lerena was severely reprimanded pursuant to AR211(1) for returning to scale in excess of 0.5kg overweight. ANOTHERLOVELYDAY – Began awkwardly. Jockey M. Hellyer advised his mount raced keenly in the early and middle stages which had a detrimental effect on the overall performance. TANGO SPIRIT (NZ) – Began awkwardly and bumped at the start. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight. MIDNIGHT SEAS – Trainer B. Dais was reprimanded pursuant to AR106(2) for presenting the mare without winkers. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Faltered in its action passing the winning post. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have sustained a catastrophic injury to the near fore fetlock and was euthanised on humane grounds. Post-mortem samples were taken for analysis. TWOPOINTFOUR – Laid out rounding the home turn. Race 3: INSURANCE ADVISERNET – AMR RISK ADVISORS MAIDEN HANDICAP 1100M The start of this race was delayed approximately 2 minutes when DELLUCY proved difficult to load. Trainer G. Neilson was advised that the mare would be required to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to racing again. GALAXY SUNSET – Bumped at the start and became unbalanced. Near the 400m bumped with OUR MISSILE and became unbalanced. PEARL IN HAY – Race wide without cover throughout. GETTIN'HOTINHERE – Leaving the 200m shifted in abruptly and became unbalanced. ARATIRI – Bumped shortly after the start. HE'S A WEAPON – Raced wide in the early stages. REMOMIA – Jumped out at the start and made contact with GALAXY SUNSET resulting in both runners becoming unbalanced. Near the 300m held up for clear running for a short distance before shifting out. VALABING – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to have bled from both nostrils on the first occasion. Trainer J. Wallace was advised under AR79(4) that the filly would now incur a 3 month ban from racing and would be required to perform to the satisfaction of Steward in a trial, jumpout or gallop of 1000m before being permitted to race again. MEASURED – As jockey N. Tomizawa was unable to fulfil this engagement for acceptable reasons, he was replaced by jockey J. Murphy. Reared on jumping, unbalancing the rider and lost ground. OUR MISSILE – Tightened for room at the start between OUR MISSILE which jumped out and GETTING’HOTINHERE which jumped in. Near the 400m, tightened for room, bumped and lost ground to the inside of GALAXY SUNSET, which was racing to the inside of PEARL IN HAY (B. Lerena) which momentarily shifted in. Jockey B. Lerena was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances. Race 4: KINGY’S ENTERPRISES CHRISTMAS BENCHMARK 62 HANDICAP 2000M TAKUNAI – Tightened for room at the start between VERMEER which jumped out and EL ASTEROID which was taken in by NO DOUBLE DIPPING which jumped in. TOROVISTA – Leaving the home straight on the first occasion, commenced to over race and hung out, taking NEWMARKET MISS wide on the track. Raced wide until near the 1100m. Laid out rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight. Trainer D. McColm was advised that TOROVISTA would be required to trial to the Stewards satisfaction prior to next racing. EL ASTEROID (NZ) – Tightened for room at the start. VERMEER – Jumped out at the start. HIT 'EM UP – Raced wide in the early stages before being restrained to obtain cover near the 1400m. Laid out rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight. NO DOUBLE DIPPING – Jumped in at the start. NEWMARKET MISS – Taken wide on the track approaching the first turn when TOROVISTA hung out. Raced wide until near the 1100m. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Race 5: BELINDA LEE’S EARLY HAPPY BIRTHDAY BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1540M ARIZONA DREAMING – Raced keenly in the early stages. Stewards intend on interviewing jockey C. Bayliss regarding his riding over the concluding stages and leaving the course without being granted permission. INTOXEL – Over raced in the early and middle stages. When asked to comment, Jockey M. Hellyer advised that when placed under pressure from the 700m, his mount failed to respond to his riding and proved disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. STERN IMPULSE – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. VANCITY – Began awkwardly. ROTHESAY'S RUBY – As jockey M. Wishart was unable to fulfil this engagement for acceptable reasons, she was replaced by apprentice T. Fenlon. Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout. SEEYA LATER GATER – Shifted the off-fore plate in the enclosure and required farrier attention on arrival at the barriers. Subsequently underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Raced keenly in the middle stages. Held up for clear running approaching and rounding the home turn. Near the 250m shifted in abruptly and became unbalanced. Jockey R. Jamieson reported that her breastplate broke during the event resulting in her saddle slipping back and placing her at a disadvantage. Race 6: HAPPY BIRTHDAY MITCH BENCHMARK 62 HANDICAP 1150M The start of this race was delayed when ADRANOS reared up in the barriers and got its off foreleg over the barrier partition. Subsequently the gelding was declared a late scratching on veterinary advice at 4:32pm. Upon the declaration of correct weight stewards ordered that all monies invested on ADRANOS be refunded with the following deductions to apply: 1st LADY SHOTGUN: 26c the win, 23c the place2nd BRECHEN: 23c the place3rd GREGARIOUS: 25c the place Trainer representative Mr S. Marr was advised that ADRANOS would be required to trial to the Stewards satisfaction prior to next racing. FAMOUS PEDRILLE – Raced wide without cover throughout. Hung out approaching and rounding the home turn. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer G. Doughty was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding’s racing manners. NEOCLASSICISM – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. O'MISS BEHAVING – Stewards accepted trainer J. Pratten explanation for the late declaration of a rider. Cast its off-hind plate in running. BOOM IN THE DARK – Laid out under pressure in the home straight. WEST GERMANY – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after contacting the enclosure gate and was subsequently cleared to race. Jockey D. Peisley reported that his saddle slipped during the event and may have been pinching the gelding. BRECHEN – Near the 250m, disappointed for a run and held up for a short distance before shifting out to obtain clear running. Cast its off-hind and near-fore plate in running. Race 7: XXXX ALLSTARS RACEDAY ON SALE BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1050M JUNGLE FEVER – Laid out approaching the home turn. RHUMB LINE – Apprentice J. McMurray was harmlessly dislodged on returning to scale. HER EXPENSE – Reared at the start and lost ground. LEMON SUPREME – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout. Eased down from the 400m. Apprentice J. Williams reported his mount did not appreciate racing on the synthetic surface. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer G. Cornish advised Stewards that he would not start LEMON SUPREME on a synthetic track whilst the gelding is in his stable and for this reason, Stewards took no action against the horse. VELVET – Raced wide throughout. ELLE OF A BELLE – Began awkwardly. Raced wide until the 600m. Laid in over the concluding stages. ROCK MELODY – Raced keenly in the middle stages.
