In all the circumstances of this particular case the Stewards decided not to take any direct action however, M. SCHUMACHER (ARCHIVES) was issued with a reprimand for failing to make a greater effort to keep his mount on a straight course.

Over the concluding stages N. DAY (SUAVE DOCTOR) dropped his near side reign and subsequently was unable to ride his mount out right to the winning post.
A Veterinary examination of JODAVRO after the race revealed signs of respiratory distress and both fore legs showed signs of old injuries to the flexor tendons but no soreness was evident.

Near the 200 metres TEMPE QUEEN had to be eased to avoid the heels of FORGIVENESS which shifted ground slightly.
When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of FLOCK today N. JOLLY explained that whilst his mount was obliged to race three wide he said that once he placed his mount under pressure leaving the 800 metres it failed to respond. Mr N. Auld the stableforeman for Mr E. Woolston explained that the filly had worked well up to the race and he was of the view that filly could win today. He added that FLOCK may be looking for further distance than the 1300 metres of today’s event. A Veterinary examination of FLOCK after the race failed to reveal any significant abnormality.

At no stage in the home straight was CROOKED BLAZE able to obtain clear running and subsequently went to the line not fully tested.

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of HAMAKI today G. PALMER explained whilst his mount was inclined to overrace in the early stages and was also forced three wide for a short distance, he was able to take up a forward position where his mount travelled comfortably. He added that once he put his mount under pressure leaving the 600 metres it failed to respond and the only other contributing factor may be in his opinion that HAMAKI failed to run out the 2200 metres of today’s race. His explanation was noted.
