RACE 1 – SEA CABIN MAIDEN HANDICAP – 900 METRES
PURLER was slowly away.
L HILL (I USED TO DREAM) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) for failing to make sufficient effort to prevent his mount from shifting in inside the final 100 metres when insufficiently clear of HUKA JET resulting in that horse clipping the heels of I USED TO DREAM and dislodging A WHEADON (HUKA JET). L HILL’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of one month to commence midnight 3 January 2001 and to expire midnight 2 February 2001. A WHEADON stood down from his remaining engagements and stewards permitted the following rider replacements:
Race 4 – D TANTI TRIBAL DANCER
Race 7 – D TANTI COME ON KENNY
RACE 2 – MALIBU MAGIC (CLASS 2) HANDICAP – 1,800 METRES
No report.
RACE 3 – DANCER’S JOY (TWO-YEARS-OLD) MAIDEN HANDICAP – 1,200 METRES
GRANDWAY PAL jumped awkwardly and lost ground.
RACE 4 – BRAVE WARRIOR MAIDEN HANDICAP – 1,300 METRES
PHILIBE was slowly away.
On jumping YAHABEEBE shifted out and made contact with the hindquarters of PRAISED causing that horse to become unbalanced for several strides and lose ground. Stewards decided not to take any direct action regarding PRAISED however, placed a warning on the gelding regarding its racing manners.
Near the 700 metres SHARSHE had to be steadied when placed in restricted room between MIDSTRENGTH and TRIBAL DANCER which shifted out slightly.
RACE 5 – ZEPHYRZ (COLTS, GELDINGS AND ENTIRES) (CLASS 1) HANDICAP – 1,400 METRES
Soon after entering the home straight MOTIVATE shifted in slightly brushing LAKES ENTRANCE which became unbalanced.
RACE 6 – WINGER CHARGER (CLASS 5) HANDICAP – 1,200 METRES
TOUCH OF FREEDOM jumped out at the start and made contact with TERJULE.
RACE 7 – GENERAL NEDIYM (CLASS 3) HANDICAP – 1,400 METRES
For some distance in the early stages of the home straight HURRY HURRY was held up for clear running and inside the 200 metres HURRY HURRY was accidentally struck on the head by the whip of N JOLLY (NORTHERN LANCER).
