SUPPLEMENTARY REPORTS:
Race 1: Coastal Tipper Hire Class 6 H’Cap – 1400m.
1st – Askew 2nd – Mr Slick 3rd – Paymore 4th – Unintentional
RUNNING RICH (App M. Palmer) jumped away awkwardly.
KEY TO SUCCESS (S. Seamer) was tightened on jumping away between UNINTENTIONAL (K. Pope) and LADY GRACIOUS (L. Cassidy) which shifted in after beginning awkwardly.
MR SLICK (J. Taylor) jumped out at the start and bumped INNOCENTTASSIE (A. Spinks).
COSMIC CRUZ (N. Thomas) and LADY GRACIOUS were wide throughout.
UNINTENTIONAL hung out rounding the home turn.
A post race veterinary examination of LADY GRACIOUS revealed the horse to be sore in the off fore fetlock.
Race 2: Culpans Electrical Ken Russell Memorial Classic – 1200m.
1st – Cat D’Antibes 2nd – Daddy’s Little Girl 3rd – Power of George 4th – Youthful Jack
SARATOGA (D. Tanti) and BRAV ‘N’ AMPLE (W. Clasohm) both jumped away awkwardly.
GRAND MARK (B. Pengelly) jumped out at the start and made contact with IGLESIA FAIR (D. Barron).
BRAV ‘N’ AMPLE overraced in the early stages.
Near the 800m YOUTHFUL JACK (A. Pattillo) had to be steadied when momentarily tightened for room by GRAND MARK.
IGLESIA FAIR and SARATOGA raced wide for the majority of the event.
Near the 500m GRAND MARK had to be momentarily steadied when tightened for room between SARATOGA and YOUTHFUL JACK which shifted out slightly.
A. Pattillo the rider of YOUTHFUL JACK accidentally dropped his whip near the 50m.
A post race veterinary examination of GRAND MARK revealed the gelding to be sore in the near fore. Trainer R. Lipp will be advised that he must produce a veterinary certificate of fitness before GRAND MARK races again.
Race 3: H Harvey Smash Repairs Gold Coast Bracelet – 1800m.
1st – Pentacity 2nd – Laletta 3rd – Riva San 4th – Our Valpolicella
TAYANSO (D. Griffin) jumped away awkwardly and a short distance later had to be checked when that horse shifted out across the heels of PENTACITY (G. Colless).
TIPSY PIGGY (C. Spry) and VERA’S PRIDE (S. Katsidis) brushed on jumping away.
RIVA SAN (L. Nolen) shifted out rounding the first turn and in doing so forced BODY DOUBLE (J. Taylor) wider on the track. SONG OF HOPE (B. Pengelly) which was following improved up onto the heels of RIVA SAN and had to be checked. SONG OF HOPE then overraced for a short distance.
Shortly after straightening OUR VALPOLICELLA (S. Arnold) shifted in and brushed TIPSY PIGGY.
A post race veterinary examination of IRISH CROSS (R. Wiggins) which compounded rounding the home turn revealed the filly to be sore in the off fore.
Race 4: Attwood Marshall Lawyers Silk Stocking – 1200m.
D/Heat 1st – Jazzella & Calchris 2nd - 3rd - Strange Lady 4th - Teasing
ACCELERATION (A. Spinks) and CHINCHILLA ROSE (S. Baster) were tightened on jumping away between MOMENTOUSLY (K. Wharton) and STRANGE LADY (C. Whiteley) which shifted in.
Near the 900m MISS PAGEANTRY (L. Cassidy) had to be steadied when tightened for room by QUIZZICAL LADY (B. Pengelly) which shifted in. B. Pengelly the rider of QUIZZICAL LADY was reprimanded and advised that in similar circumstances he must provide 2 lengths clearance.
Passing the 900m FABIARNA (G. Colless) improved up onto the heels of JAZZELLA (C. Spry) and had to be steadied. SEQUENTIAL CHARM (S. Katsidis) which was following had to be steadied in consequence.
CHINCHILLA ROSE raced wide throughout.
Approaching the 300m MI JUBILEE (S. Scriven) broke down hampering MOMENTOUSLY. MI JUBILEE which fractured both near fore sesamoids was euthanaised on humane grounds.
FABIARNA had difficulty obtaining clear running inside the final 200m.
G. Colless the rider of FABIARNA had his whip knocked from his grasp near the 50m.
Race 5: Carlton Draught Prime Minister’s Cup Quality H’Cap – 1300m.
1st – Helideck 2nd – Hard To Catch 3rd – Easy Rocker 4th – Pay Me
COLONIAL LASS (R. Wiggins) was slow to begin.
TELLASECRET (D. Tanti), YASS RIVER (L. Cassidy) and MR HORNBLOWER (T. Pannell) were all wide throughout.
Post race veterinary examinations of YASS RIVER and FIVE WAYS failed to reveal any abnormalities.
Race 6: Heinrich Group Gold Coast Guineas – 1200m.
1st – El Cambio 2nd – Xaardante 3rd – Heart Of The Citi 4th – Tan Tat De Lago
ONE EYED (A. Spinks) was slow to begin.
COURT AWARD (N. Paine) and MFUWE (C. Whiteley) came together on jumping away.
NERICON KING (C. Spry) and BORSHA’S MARK (S. Scriven) jumped away awkwardly.
NERICON KING was forced to race wide in the early stages.
AMEX GOLD (G. Colless), BORSHA’S MARK and ABIRRA (S. Galloway) were wide for the majority of the event.
Shortly after straightening MR HEARTBREAKER (D. Griffin) ran up onto the heels of the tiring NERICON KING and had to be checked. MR HEARTBREAKER then shifted in hampering FALCO STAR (S. Arnold).
Between the 400m and 300m TAN TAT DE LAGO (L. Nolen) had difficulty obtaining clear running.
Near the 300m ABIRRA which was inclined to lay in had to be steadied to avoid the heels of MFUWE which was taken out by HEART OF THE CITI (B. Pengelly). B. Pengelly the rider of HEART OF THE CITI was reprimanded.
NERICON KING bled from both nostrils during the event. Trainer B. Baldwin was advised that NERICON KING would be barred from racing for 3 months under the provisions of AR53A.
A postrace veterinary examination of BORSHA’S MARK failed to reveal any abnormality.
A postrace veterinary examination of NERICON KING revealed the gelding had been galloped on on the off hind.
Race 7: Patinack Farm A.D. Hollindale Stakes – 1800m.
1st – Scenic Shot 2nd – Spinney 3rd –Stormhill 4th – Lasoron
LECTRICE (S. Baster) which was fractious in the barrier lost considerable ground.
LASORON (B. Pengelly) jumped away awkwardly.
MAJORCA (R. Wiggins) and KING LATARMISS (K. Pope) came together on jumping away.
Rounding the first turn KING LATARMISS which was inclined to shift out had to be steadied off the heels of MAJORCA.
Near the 1550m LECTRICE which was inclined to lay out had to be steadied when tightened for room inside of LASORON.
Approaching the 400m KING LATARMISS had to be steadied when momentarily tightened for room between THIN AND CRISPY (J. Taylor) and LASORON which shifted out to obtain clear running. B. Pengelly the rider of LASORON was reprimanded.
Race 8: Southern Cross Ten Class 6 H’Cap – 1800m.
1st – Rum Dum 2nd –Doug’s Mate 3rd – Stage Shaker 4th - Jussemi
Stewards adjourned an inquiry into the reasons why trainer G. Yorke failed to scratch RABBIT NAGINA was by the prescribed time.
Trainer B. Baldwin was fined the sum of $100.00 for declaring L. Cassidy as the rider of RUM DUM without engaging L. Cassidy. As L. Cassidy was unable to take the mount stewards permitted R. Wiggins to be declared as the rider for RUM DUM.
JUST A CLASSIC (K. Wharton) was slow to begin.
MAJESTIC SIGHT jumped in at the start and made contact with OUR PRIVATE JET (D. Griffin).
THE CAVERN CLUB (A. Spinks) overraced in the early stages.
PRINCE LIONHEART (T. Pannell) raced wide in the early and middle stages.
DOWN TO EARTH (M. Traecey) and STENTORIAN (S. Seamer) raced wide throughout.
Rounding the home THE CAVERN CLUB shifted out to improve around the heels of OUR PRIVATE JET and in doing so made contact with DOWN TO EARTH.
From rounding the home turn and until near the 200m both JUSSEMI (K. Pope) and MAJESTIC SIGHT (J. Taylor) had difficulty obtaining clear running.
STAGE SHAKER (B. Pengelly) was inclined to lay in under pressure over the concluding stages.
