Race 1: Wanless Enviro Services Filles & Mares Maiden H’cap – 1200m
1st – Miss Madi 2nd – Cool Rapids 3rd – Move To The Groove 4th – Ballet Bird

NATANE was withdrawn by Stewards at 8.04 am (ineligible – under bar).

NATURALBORNKISSER (App. M Palmer) was examined by the veterinary surgeon at the barriers after blood was detected in the mouth of the filly. After examination NATURALBORNKISSER was passed fit to start.

THE HOSTESS (J P Stanley) was inclined to over-race in the early and middle stages of the event.

DAYZEE (App. A Butler) over-raced in the middle stages of the race and approaching the 700m shifted out after improving up on to the heels of THE HOSTESS and as a result NATURALBORNKISSER was forced wider on the track. NATURALBORNKISSER then raced wide for the remainder of the event.

NATURALBORNKISSER was inclined to hang out rounding the home turn.

COOL RAPIDS (App. M Hellyer) had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early stages of the straight.

Jockey J P Stanley reported that THE HOSTESS raced greenly when placed under pressure in the straight.

Race 2: Smartskip Colts, Geldings & Entires Maiden H’cap – 1200m
1st – Mayalbe 2nd – The Cranberries 3rd – Sandminer 4th – Dapper

SPIN KAT (K Forrester) was slow to begin.

RIVIERA CLAY (App. M Hellyer) was slow into stride.

RIVIERA CLAY was inclined to lay in approaching the 800m which resulted in the horse making contact with the running rail for a considerable distance until approaching the 700m. SPIN KAT which was trailing was inconvenienced and had to be steadied.

App. P Schmidt was cautioned for allowing THE CRANBERRIES to shift in passing the winning post which resulted in DAPPER (App. M Wood) and SANDMINER (P Hammersley) being crowded for room.

Race 3: Blacks A Fake 3yo Maiden Plate – 900m
1st – Double Image 2nd – Ty Seeker 3rd – Show Us A Win 4th – Geneva Gold

AL CAPULCO was late leaving the enclosure after App. M Hellyer broke his near side stirrup leather.

DOUBLE IMAGE (JP Stanley) was examined at the barriers by the veterinary surgeon after the horse reared over in the enclosure. After examination DOUBLE IMAGE was passed fit to start.

DOUBLE IMAGE became fractious in the barriers, dislodging Jockey JP Stanley.

INTHENICKOFTIME (K Fuji) was slow to begin.

TY SEEKER (App. A Butler) and I GOT FEELINGS (D Craven) were tightened for room at the start between AL CAPULCO and SHOW US A WIN (D Griffin) both of which shifted ground.

AL CAPULCO raced wide for the majority of the event.

SHOW US A WIN was held up for clear running in the early stages of the straight until approaching the 200m.

Race 4: Wanless Recycling QTIS 600 2yo H’cap – 900m
1st – Jopa 2nd – Queen Thyra 3rd – Handbag 4th – Poppy’s Revenge

D Kelly Trainer of POPPY’S REVENGE was fined the sum of $100 for late rider notification (D Green).

Prior to the start BUSH BISCUIT was fractious in the barriers causing App. E Kehoe to be dislodged.

POPPY’S REVENGE which was difficult to load, began awkwardly.

Approaching the 600m HEAD STOCKMEN (N Evans) shifted out across the heels of DEMARCATION (D Craven) and had to be eased.

LITTLE ZACHARY (App. M Wood) was caught wide for the majority of the event and when rounding the home turn was inclined to hang out.

JOPA (J Bowditch) raced wide for the majority of the event.

DEMARCATION was inclined to lay in under pressure in the straight.

Leaving the 300m HEAD STOCKMEN had to be steadied when the horse improved on to the heels of DEMARCATION.

JOPA had a tendency to shift out under pressure over the final 200m which resulted in QUEEN THYRA (P Hammersley) which was trailing having to be eased on 2 occasions.

BUSH BISCUIT cast its near side hind shoe during running.

Stewards questioned Jockey D Craven regarding the disappointing performance of DEMARCATION. Jockey Craven said the horse raced well below expectations and in consultation with the connections consideration would be been given to spelling the filly. A veterinary examination of DEMARCATION revealed the filly to be lame in the near fore leg. Trainer B Smith’s representative will be advised the filly will require a veterinary certificate of fitness prior to its next race.

Race 5: Smartloo class 3 Plate – 2200m
1st – Chiefcomingfirst 2nd – Go Gerry 3rd – Our Ojay 4th – Benaura Girl

Stewards permitted Jockey P Hammersley to ride BENAURA GIRL 1 kg over its allotted weight after no suitable rider could be found at acceptance time.

Stewards permitted a late rider change on GO GERRY from P Hammersley to K Fuji due to mitigating circumstances.

ESCUDOS (App B Looker) was inspected by the veterinary surgeon at the barriers after the horse made contact with the fencing partition when parading on to the track. After examination ESCUDOS was passed fit to start.

ESCUDOS which was fractious in the barriers was slow to begin.

FLYBEFREE (JP Stanley) began awkwardly.

Turning out of the straight at the 1600m ESCUDOS shifted out and made contact with LUCKY TOSS (App. M Wood).

Race 6: Wanless 13 Waste Class 1 Plate – 1800m
1st – Matter of Priority 2nd – Primary Colour 3rd – Rockwest 4th – Santo De Lago

MATTER OF PRIORITY (D Green) began awkwardly and shifted out at the start resulting in the horse losing valuable ground.

DELEZIO (App. M Hellyer) blundered on jumping away.

UNSURPASSED (App. E Kehoe) made the turn into the back straight at the 1400m awkwardly and shifted out taking SANTO DE LAGO (JP Stanley) wider on the track. UNSURPASSED then over-raced until leaving the 800m.

A post-race veterinary examination of PABLO (App. M Wood) found the horse to be suffering from arterial fibrillation.

Race 7: Wanless Environmental Class 5 H’cap – 1200m
1st – Fuhrnatic 2nd – Bloomin Thunder 3rd – Reorientate 4th – Adamon

OIGLES (D Griffin) and EDITAVE (App. A Butler) made contact on jumping away.

Near the 800m BRADFIELD (A Pattillo) was tightened for room when racing to the inside of NAVIGATION (K Forrester) which shifted in. Jockey K Forrester rider of NAVIGATION was advised to exercise more care in future in similar situations.

NAVIGATION and AFLEET BOY (D Green) were inclined to lay in under pressure in the straight.

EDITAVE and ADAMON (App. M Wood) were held up for clear running and unable to improve over the final 200m.

J Bowditch rider of FUHRNATIC dismounted from the mare on return to scale after he became concerned with the horse’s action after pulling up. However, after examination by the veterinary surgeon no abnormalities were detected.

When questioned regarding the performance of OIGLES, Jockey D Griffin confirmed his disappointment with the horse’s performance. He stated that OIGLES was inclined to over-race in the early and middle stages which may have been a contributing factor for the horse yielding badly over the final 200m. A veterinary examination of OIGLES failed to reveal any abnormalities at the time of examination.

Race 8: Wanless Industrial Liquid Solutions Class 1 H’cap – 1300m
1st – English Star 2nd – Top Messiah 3rd – Sonic Hill 4th – Semisyn

JUST HAVE A GO (App. M wood) was inspected by the veterinary surgeon at the barriers after the horse hit its head in the stabling area prior to the event. After examination JUST HAVE A GO was passed fit to start.

JUST HAVE A GO and OUT OF REACH (App. M Hellyer) began awkwardly.

CHICKEN DINNER (M Radecker) was slow to begin.

SEMISYN (JP Stanley) and A BREACH OF SNOW (J Bowditch) brushed on jumping away.

ENGLISH STAR (L Cheshire) and TOP MESSIAH (D Griffin) made contact shortly after the start.

The saddle of App. M Wood (JUST HAVE A GO) slipped forward leaving the 800m.

Approaching the 200m JUST HAVE A GO shifted in under pressure after the saddle on that runner moved to the off side placing J Wood at a disadvantage. As a result A BREACH OF SNOW was contacted and became unbalanced and shifted in contacting BUSTOPHER JONES (App. J Kropp).

Jockey L Cheshire rider of ENGLISH STAR was fined the sum of $100 for striking the horse with the whip after passing the winning post.
