SUPPLEMENTARY
Trainer R Balcombe was fined the sum of $100 for failing to present a horse treatment record during a stable inspection.
Race 1: The Optima Wealth Solutions 2YO Maiden Plate – 900m
1st – Tiarazou 2nd – In The Sky Rocket 3rd – Forward Speed 4th – Shukhia
SHUKHIA (C Whiteley), OUT OF THE BLUE (P Holmes) and FORWARD SPEED (M Palmer) began awkwardly.
Leaving the 700m IN THE SKY ROCKET (D Robinson) commenced to hang in and when being corrected shifted out inconveniencing FORWARD SPEED which had to be steadied.
OUT OF THE BLUE was tightened for room near the 600m when racing between FORWARD SPEED and SHUKHIA which raced greenly and shifted out. As a result of this incident OUT OF THE BLUE shifted out making contact with FORWARD SPEED which became unbalanced and shifted wider on the track.
Leaving the 500m HOT AUNTY (R Ride) improved on to the heels of TIARAZOU (A Pattillo) and had to be steadied.
When questioned regarding the performance of IN THE SKY ROCKET, Jockey D Robinson reported that the colt hung in for a major portion of the race and in particular in the home straight hung in behind the heels of TIARAZOU and proved difficult to ride out for the remainder of the race. A post-race veterinary examination of IN THE SKY ROCKET revealed soreness in the near side shin. Trainer R Maund advised Stewards that he would be recommending to the owners that IN THE SKY ROCKET be gelded and given a short let-up. In view of this Stewards advised Mr Maund that he must provide a veterinary clearance before the horse would be permitted to race again.
Race 2: The Optima Lending Solutions H’cap – 1100m
1st – Lady Montel 2nd – Power of Ed 3rd – Triskele 4th – Catch the Light
POWER OF ED (R Jamieson) was slow to begin.
GREYZEEL (M Palmer) began awkwardly.
Near the 900m when the pace slackened, TRISKELE (A Pattillo) which was over-racing was tightened for room between TOUCH IT (K Pope) and GREYZEEL which was also over-racing and shifted out. POWER OF ED which was following had to be steadied and shifted out around the heels of the runners in this incident.
GREYZEEL improved on to the heels of TOUCH IT near the 600m and had to be steadied.
POWER OF ED had a tendency to lay in under pressure in the home straight.
Race 3: The Charlie Gibson Class 4 H’cap – 1300m
1st – Beeby Gem 2nd – Feltham 3rd – Slipstreams 4th – Novaspur
GO KINGPIN (A Pattillo) and NOVASPUR (K Pope) made heavy contact on jumping away as a result of both horses shifting ground. In this incident GO KINGPIN lost ground.
CROSS THE STAR (R Ride) raced wide in the early and middle stages of the event.
When questioned regarding the seemingly disappointing performance of GO KINGPIN, Jockey A Pattillo stated that after receiving interference at the start the horse settled back in the field and failed to respond to his riding when placed under pressure and in his view was disappointing. Trainer L Kelly advised that he may have erred in not trialling the gelding leading up to today’s event and was of the view that GO KINGPIN would take benefit out of today’s outing. A veterinary examination of GO KINGPIN revealed no apparent abnormalities at the time of examination. Trainer L Kelly was fined the sum of $200 for the removal of GO KINGPIN from the course prior to the prescribed time.
Jockey K Pope the rider of NOVASPUR was fined the sum of $100 for failing to weigh in as the 4th placegetter.
Race 4: The Optima Homes Maiden Plate – 1800m
1st – Sand Biscuit 2nd – Baltoro 3rd – Desert Ruler 4th – Prize
GRACE WITH FIRE (V Venkaya) began awkwardly.
Near the 1400m BALTORO (M Palmer) which was over-racing threw its head in the air when being steadied.
STORM MARAUDER (B Appo) compounded badly in the home straight and finished a distant last. Trainer G Cornish indicated that he would recommend to connections that the gelding now be retired from racing. Stewards advised that STORM MARAUDER would be ineligible to compete at TAB meetings should it continue racing, until the gelding can establish a competitive form in the country area.
When questioned regarding the performance of RED ASSASSIN, Jockey C Whiteley stated that in his opinion the gelding was reluctant to race inside other horses and never travelled comfortably throughout the race. Trainer G Marshall was at a loss to explain the performance today and gave an undertaking to advise Stewards should anything come to his attention in the near future that may have had a bearing on today’s performance. A post-race veterinary examination of RED ASSASSIN failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities at the time of examination.
Race 5: Lund Hire Maiden H’cap – 1100m
1st – Eye Winsome 2nd – Drop Shot 3rd – Bull Shark 4th – Choruses
Connections advised that EYE WINSOME (A Pattillo) would be ridden back in the field today if circumstances permit. After being restrained at the start the gelding was ridden accordingly.

The start of this race was delayed when KING BOB (D Missen) proved difficult to load and then became very fractious in the barriers. The gelding was subsequently removed from the barriers and after a veterinary examination was passed to start. Trainer J Petersen was advised that KING BOB must obtain a further Barrier Certificate before being permitted to race again.
TRAINLINE (R Jamieson) which began awkwardly and threw its head in the air shortly after the start, lost ground.
DROP SHOT (M McKenzie) raced wide for the majority of the event.
Near the 400m BI WINNING (M Gray) shifted out to obtain clear running and in doing so made contact with DROP SHOT forcing that runner wider on the track.
BULL SHARK (B Hodder) was held up for clear running rounding the home turn and shifted out abruptly to obtain clear running near the 300m.
Race 6: The Mortgage choice Arundel Class 2 H’cap – 1100m
1st – Moroccan Dancer 2nd – Barrassie Brother 3rd – Blaisingjad 4th – Eskervinth
BRIGADOON EXPRESS (R Jamieson) was slow to begin.
Shortly after the start BUNDY (A Mundy) was tightened for room between VIENNE (P Holmes) and BARRASSIE BROTHER (C Whiteley) both of which shifted ground.
Leaving the 900m BUNDY commenced to hang out and in doing so forced RITZY’S BOY (K Wharton) very wide on the track. RITZY’S BOY then raced wide for the remainder of the event. Trainer J Holcombe was advised that BUNDY must trial to the satisfaction of Stewards before racing again.
Leaving the 400m BUNDY was momentarily tightened for room between RITZY’S BOY and BARRASSIE BROTHER which was held up for clear running and shifted out.
Race 7: The Optima Corporation Class 3 Plate – 1800m
1st – Kistamon 2nd – Faith No More 3rd – Tumblebug 4th – Playsova
CHIDE (A Pattillo) raced wide during the early stages of the event.
TUMBLEBUG (N Perrett) was held up for clear running rounding the home turn and for a short distance on entering the straight.
Race 8: The Silkwood Homes Class 1 H’cap – 1400m
1st – Powerful Jet 2nd – Believe in Heart 3rd – Valiant Heart 4th – La Bella Mermaid
The start was delayed when LOTZA MATEZ (B Hodder) proved difficult to load. Trainer K Hickmott was advised that he must obtain a further Barrier Certificate for LOTZA MATEZ before the gelding is permitted to start again.
LOTZA MATEZ (B Hodder) and HILL AND GRACE (M McKenzie) were slow to begin.
BELIEVE IN HEART (P Holmes) shifted out at the start making contact with VALIANT HEART (R Jamieson).
WARSHIP (S Drake) raced wide for the majority of the event.
A post-race veterinary examination of PEARLARDI (D Robinson) which finished some distance from the main body of the field failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities at the time of examination. Trainer E Creighton advised Stewards that it was difficult for him to place the mare as in his opinion it needs longer distances to be competitive. In view of the mare’s performance today, Mr Creighton was advised that PEARLARDI would be ineligible to compete at metropolitan and provincial TAB meetings until it can establish a competitive form in the country area.
LA BELLA MERMAID (A Butler) lost both hind plates in running.
