App Holt added that when attempting to comply with these instructions he was unable to obtain cover and was obliged to race wide for the majority of the race. App Holt noted that HOLD FOR RANSOM raced greenly when racing without cover and proved difficult to ride in the home straight. Trainer N. McCall noted that HOLD FOR RANSOM was only having its first race start and at its previous 2 starts had raced tractably when racing with cover.
