Jockey Matthew Palmer reported that he was instructed to position TISPURA TONITE wherever comfortable from the inside barrier and as such the horse travelled well when finding the lead however the gelding failed to see out today’s distance of 1800m.
Jockey L Rolls (GREENWOOD ECHO) was fined the sum of $200 for using the whip in a forehand manner on more than 5 occasions prior to the 100m.

Jockey S Drake the rider of LEMESEE was reprimanded for her late arrival on course.
ALL THINGS IN TIME (J Morris) and WAY OUT (K Wharton) were slow to begin.

Near the 1100m FOUR JAYS (D Hayse) had to be eased when awkwardly placed at the heels of LEMESEE which was taken in by TITANOMAGNETITE. Jockey Pattillo the rider of TITANOMAGNETITE was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances in future.
Near the 900m ALL THINGS IN TIME had to be steadied when tightened for room by FORWARD SPEED which shifted in and away from WAY OUT which was over-racing.
LEMESEE and PALACE WHISPERS raced wide throughout the event.
FOUR JAYS was forced to race in restricted room between SHE’S AMAZING (C Whiteley) and LEMESEE which shifted in during the middle stages of the event. Jockey S Drake was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances in future.
FOUR JAYS, SHE’S AMAZING and FORWARD SPEED were held up rounding the home turn.
DECILLION (C McIver) was disappointed for a run to the inside of TIANA (JK Johnson) leaving the 300m and as a consequence was held up for the majority of the home straight and went to the line without being fully tested.
Jockey C Whiteley reported that SHE’S AMAZING which was having its first start became unbalanced rounding the home turn and lost ground. He added that when able to obtain clear running over the concluding stages of the event SHE’S AMAZING finished the race off well and will take benefit from today’s run.
Jockey A Pattillo the rider of TITANOMAGNETITE reported to Stewards that he was instructed to take up a position with cover if possible however he was obliged to race wide in the early stages of the event and subsequently allowed the colt to stride forward to take up a position in the lead.
When questioned as to the performance of TROPICAL HEATWAVE, App. K Matheson reported that the colt failed to respond to his riding when placed under pressure in the home straight and proved disappointing. App. Matheson added that TROPICAL HEATWAVE may have been galloped on rounding the home turn and shifted in abruptly approaching the 200m. A post-race veterinary examination confirmed that the colt had a substantial laceration to the off hind leg consistent with being galloped on.
Race 3: Burleigh Bears Leagues Maiden Plate – 1200m
1st – Telmemore 2nd – Credit Only 3rd – Cheeky Order 4th – Enclosure
At the start CHANTOLI (K Wharton) shifted in and bumped ENCLOSURE (Michael Palmer) which was taken in on to SIMBAROSA (M Speers).
ROMAN CONFLICT (J Morris) began awkwardly.
CHANTOLI over-raced during the early stages of the event.
KEZZ’S BOY (S Drake) and THE IPPY JET (A Pattillo) raced wide throughout the event.
Near the 900m CREDIT ONLY (G Goold) improved on to the heels of KEZZ’S BOY and had to be steadied.
CREDIT ONLY over-raced in the early and middle stages of the event.
Over the concluding stages ROMAN CONFLICT shifted in under pressure taking SIMBAROSA in on to ENCLOSURE. As a consequence Jockey Speers was forced to stop riding SIMBAROSA.
When questioned as to the performance of THE IPPY JET, Jockey A Pattillo stated that he was instructed to take up a forward position with cover if possible. Jockey Pattillo added that after being marginally slow to begin he was obliged to race wide in the early stages of the event and leaving the 1000m attempted to stride forward to take up a position closer to the rail however THE IPPY JET was unable to muster sufficient speed at that point of the race and as a consequence was obliged to race wide throughout. Jockey Pattillo further stated that he did not give consideration to restraining the gelding in the early stages to take up a position close to the fence at the rear of the field as he had been specifically instructed to push forward in the early stages. In light of these circumstances Jockey Pattillo was not overly disappointed with the gelding’s performance. Trainer H Page confirmed the instructions issued.
App. M McKenzie rider of TELMEMORE was fined the sum of $100 for excessive use of his whip prior to 100m in a forehand manner.
Race 4: Web Ninja Benchmark 85 H’cap – 1200m
1st – Lucky Songs 2nd – Patties Mate 3rd – Daneomite 4th – Massuri
MEMORABLE MOMENT (T Treichel) which was fractious in the barriers was hampered on jumping between JAM FANCY (A Pattillo) and DANEOMITE (L Rolls) which began awkwardly and shifted out.
LUCKY SONGS (J Morris) and MASSURI (B Appo) were slow to begin.
JAM FANCY and REQUESTED (D Hayse) were obliged to race wide in the early stages of the event.
When questioned as to the tactics adopted on MEMORABLE MOMENT, Jockey T Treichel stated that he was instructed to have the gelding positioned mid-field with cover however after suffering interference at the start it was unable to muster the necessary speed in the early stages and as a result settled towards the rear of the field. He added that he did not elect to shift wider on the home turn as he did not believe that MEMORABLE MOMENT was travelling well enough at that point of the race. He further added that upon straightening he became held up on the heels of REQUESTED which was weakening and as a result elected to shift in to obtain clear running and whilst he felt the gelding was able to finish the race off fairly he was of the view that it peaked on its run over the concluding stages. Jockey Treichel was also of the view that MEMORABLE MOMENT did not feel entirely comfortable in its action when placed under pressure in the home straight. Trainer T Crane confirmed the instructions and advised Stewards that he was disappointed with the tactics adopted after the gelding was unable to comply with his instructions. Stewards noted Jockey Treichel’s explanation for failing to shift wider rounding the home turn however advised Jockey Treichel that they were critical of his lack of vigour over the concluding stages of the event. Whilst critical of Jockey Treichel’s lack of vigour they did not believe he was culpable under the Australian Rules of Racing and as such took no direct action. A post-race veterinary examination of MEMORABLE MOMENT failed to reveal any abnormalities at the time of examination.
When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of JAM FANCY, Jockey A Pattillo was of the view that after having to work hard in the early stages the gelding failed to handle the prevailing track conditions and as a consequence failed to finish the race off as expected. Jockey Pattillo was of the view that JAM FANCY performed better over 1400m. Trainer H Page confirmed that JAM FANCY has performed poorly when placed on track conditions similar to today and will give consideration to the horse being spelled.
When questioned into the seemingly improved performance of LUCKY SONGS, Trainer J Morrisey stated that whilst he had not been entirely disappointed with the mare’s previous runs the fact that LUCKY SONGS relaxed when being settled back in the field was a determining factor in it finishing the race off well today. He further added that the mare does have a tendency to over-race when the pace of the race is not suitable. Stewards noted his explanation.
Race 5: Red Dragon Concreting Class 2 H’cap – 1100m
1st – Rocco In The House 2nd – Shtarker 3rd – Presentation 4th – Pure Whisper
Trainer T Edmonds advised Stewards that he would instruct the jockey to settle SHTARKER (C Whiteley) with cover if possible and as a result may be ridden further back in the field. The gelding was ridden accordingly.

RICHMOND GROVE (T Treichel) hung out in the early stages of the event.
FLYING RIDDLE (C McIver) and RICHMOND GROVE raced wide throughout the event.
MIGHTY MOUNTAIN (G Goold) was inclined to hang out rounding the home turn and bumped ROCCO IN THE HOUSE (E Kehoe).
ROCCO IN THE HOUSE was held up for clear running rounding the home turn.
PURE WHISPER was held up rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the straight until near the 200m when able to obtain a run to the inside of MIGHTY MOUNTAIN.
Near the 200m MIGHTY MOUNTAIN shifted out under pressure and in doing so made heavy contact with DARLIN’ JULES (K Matheson) which was taken out on to OTANGO (B Appo) which became unbalanced as a consequence. When being corrected MIGHTY MOUNTAIN shifted back in and crowded PURE WHISPER. Stewards were of the view that the racing manners of MIGHTY MOUNTAIN contributed to the incident and as such took no further action.
ROCCO IN THE HOUSE blundered of its own accord over the concluding stages of the event.
Race 6: Web Ninja Class 1 H’cap – 1400m
1st – Midnight Fury 2nd – Mains Power 3rd – Play Luck 4th – Linville
Trainer B Guy advised that PLAY LUCK (JK Johnson) which was ridden towards the rear of the field at its last start would be ridden in a forward position today if circumstances permit – PLAY LUCK raced 3 wide without cover.
SEEYAMONDAY (J Morris) was slow to begin.
FRIDAY EXAMPLE (G Killen) raced wide throughout.
App. JK Johnson (PLAY LUCK) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) for permitting her mount to shift in approaching the 1100m when insufficiently clear of FRIDAY EXAMPLE resulting in FRIDAY EXAMPLE being taken in on to OUR EDGE. Both FRIDAY EXAMPLE and OUR EDGE had to be checked as a consequence. MIDNIGHT FURY (M Hellyer) which was following improved onto the heels of OUR EDGE (L Rolls) in this incident and shifted out abruptly. App. Johnson was suspended from riding in races for a period of 7 meetings to commence midnight Saturday 25/05/13 and to expire midnight Friday 07/06/2013.
LINVILLE (C Whiteley) which commenced to over-race passing the 900m shifted in and bumped TREES A CROWD (Michael Palmer) on a number of occasions.
OUR EDGE and TREES A CROWD had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early stages of the home straight.
Stewards will interview App. M McKenzie the rider of CLASSIC KITTEN regarding his whip use at a later date.
Race 7: McFadyen Group Class 4 H’cap – 1400m
1st – Proto 2nd – Flying Home 3rd – Hush Power 4th – Peppered Black
Stewards considered an objection lodged by Jockey L Rolls the rider of HUSH POWER which finished 3rd against FLYING HOME (M Hellyer) being declared the 2nd placegetter on the grounds of alleged interference over the concluding stages. On the evidence it was established that whilst FLYING HOME did lay in, in the home straight, Stewards were not of the view that the interference suffered by HUSH POWER warranted a reversal of the placings. Stewards were also mindful that PROTO (A Pattillo) shifted out over the concluding stages and hampered HUSH POWER and therefore subsequently dismissed the protest and declared correct weight on the numbers semaphored.
SLICK LAGO (G Goold) had to be eased at the start when tightened for room between PEPPERED BLACK (M McGuren) and BIG CHANCE (C Whiteley) both of which shifted ground.
ALKIORI (T Treichel) and VICE OR VIRTUE (B Appo) bumped on jumping.
ETRAIN (J Morris) was slow to begin and was then hampered by HUSH POWER (L Rolls) which began awkwardly and shifted out.
FLYING HOME began awkwardly and lost ground.
PROTO (A Pattillo) and FLYING HOME raced wide for the majority of the event.
SOLAR HEART (D Hayse) was held up in the early stages of the home straight.
