SUPPLEMENTARY:
From Doomben Race Meeting 13/9/2014 – Race 8

Trainer B. Guy was fined $100.00 for presenting DIENEKES to race with race plates instead of the advertised shock shod shoes.

Race 1: Bon Voyage The Show, Now Showing At Jupiters Theatre F&M SW Maiden Plate – 1200m
1st – Que Cee 2nd – Ella Enty 3rd – Fortunate Four 4th – Swift And Sassy

SWIFT AND SASSY – Slow to begin.

GALLIVANTING – Slow to begin. Commenced to hang out leaving the 500m and continued to hang out under pressure in the home straight placing jockey T. Harrison at a disadvantage in riding the mare out with her usual vigour.

SHARPE RATIO – Slow to beigin. Inconvenienced near the 500m.

FORTUNATE FOUR – Slow to muster speed. Held up in the early stages of the home straight. Subject to any further submissions trainer M. Dunn was fined $100.00 for presenting the horse to race with the incorrect gear. Public announcements were made to the affect.

STELLENBOSCH LOVE – Overraced during middle stages and near the 700m had to be checked from heels.

ELLA ENTY – Raced wide throughout.

REGNBUE – Raced wide throughout. Rider questioned as to the disappointing performance. J. Taylor stated that after being marginally slow to begin he rode the mare forward in an effort to obtain a handy position. Jockey Taylor added that he was unable to obtain cover and was forced to race 3 wide for the majority. Jockey Taylor further added the mare was under pressure leaving the 500m and proved very disappointing. Jockey Taylor was of the opinion that the mare may be better suited when allowed to race further back in the field. A post race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have a poor post race recovery and was sore behind. Trainer A. Willick will be advised that a veterinary certificate of fitness must be produced prior to REGNBUE again racing. A swab sample was taken.

J. Morris (SWIFT AND SASSY) fined $100.00 for using his whip in a forehand manner on more than 5 occasions prior to the 100m.

Following the running of this race the track was upgraded to a Slow 6.

Race 2: Ronald McDonald House Charity Colts, Geldings & Entires SW Maiden Plate – 1200m
1st – Great Patience 2nd – I’m Alone 3rd – Benico’s Prince 4th – Treasures Secret

The start was delayed when I’M ALONE proved difficult to load.

BENICO’S PRINCE – Fractious in the barriers and began awkwardly.

TREASURES SECRET – Slow to begin.

WE’RE READY – Slow to begin.

SPIRITOF TRAVESTON – Slow to begin.

CAPTAIN ROUGE – Commenced to overrace leaving the 900m when attempting to be restrained in an effort to obtain cover.

TONNA POWER – When questioned as to the performance jockey B. El-Issa stated that the gelding was inclined to race greenly throughout and then hung in during the early stages of the home straight, when placed under pressure, preventing him from riding the gelding with his usual vigour. Jockey El-Issa added that leaving the 200m the gelding commenced to finish the race off well but was disappointed for clear running between the weakening OUT LATE and LACADA RAIN and over the concluding stages was obliged to steady from the heels of LACADA RAIN. Stewards noted the explanation. A post race veterinary examination of TONNA POWER failed to reveal any abnormalities.

THE BURGLAR – When questioned as to the tactics adopted in the early and middle stages which resulted in a fast tempo being set, jockey T. Harrison stated the colt had shown good early speed at its previous start and as a result she was instructed to obtain the lead if possible. Jockey Harrison added that passing the 900m she felt that she was going to cross forward of CAPTAIN ROUGE easily however, when that gelding commenced to overrace she was obliged to race 3 wide at that point. Jockey Harrison added that as a consequence she continued to ride the colt forward in an effort to obtain a position closer to the fence near the 700m. Jockey Harrison further added that as a result the colt weakened over the final 200m. The explanation was noted.

OUT LATE – Questioned as to tactics adopted in the early and middle stages which resulted in him racing 3 wide outside the leaders. Jockey C. Munce stated that leaving the 1000m he allowed THE BURGLAR to cross forward of him however, when CAPTAIN ROUGE commenced to overrace to his inside he anticipated THE BURGLAR crossing forward to the fence and as such he elected to stride forward to sit outside of that runner. Jockey Munce added that when THE BURGLAR was unable to cross I’M ALONE leaving the 900m he was obliged to race 3 wide. Jockey Munce further added that leaving the 700m the gelding was unable to be restrained, to take a trailing position, despite his efforts and as such continued to race wide outside of THE BURGLAR until that runner was able to cross to the lead leaving the 500m. The explanation was noted.

Race 3: Bartercard Fillies & Mares Class 2 H’Cap – 1200m
1st – Northern Zoom 2nd – Stradam 3rd – Balgownie 4th – La Ranita

Trainer J. Thomas was reprimanded for the late scratching of CHANTILLY MISS by the prescribed time. In determining penalty stewards were mindful of the mitigating circumstances.

The start was delayed to hold for an interstate event.

SHIBETSU – Fractious in the barriers and reared as the start was effected losing ground.

LA RANITA – Taken wider leaving the 800m and raced wide from that point onwards

BALGOWNIE – When overracing in the middle stages had to be steadied for some distance when awkwardly placed at the heels of another runner. Held up in the early stages of the home straight. Jockey R. McMahon reported that when a run appeared between STRADAM and LEAPS AND BOUNDS approaching the 200m the mare failed to quicken as expected as it was inclined to race ungenerously with a high head carriage which jockey McMahon noted was a trait of the mare in previous starts.

HARDLEY – When questioned as to the tactics adopted on the mare which raced at the back of the field in contrast to its most recent start jockey C. Munce stated he was instructed not to lead and to obtain a midfield position with cover if possible. Jockey Munce added that after beginning awkwardly from a wide barrier he was obliged to restrain the mare to the rear of the field to take up a position closer to the fence. Trainer P. Balzen confirmed the instructions which were issued on the basis that the mare had not been finishing off its races recently when ridden in a forward position. Mr Balzen was reminded of his obligations to advise stewards of any intended change of tactics.

Race 4: Highgrove Bathrooms Colts, Geldings & Entires Class 2 H’Cap – 1200m
1st – All Host 2nd – Storm Fighter 3rd – Jack’s Jet 4th – Great Inagua

STORM FIGHTER – Overraced in the early and middle stages.

WILL’S CHOICE - Had to be steadied from heels passing the 800m.

JACK’S JET – Overraced in the middle stages. Held up approaching the home turn.

FUN – Raced wide throughout.

C. Munce was stood down after being examined by the Club’s Doctor following this event and replaced as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.

Following the running of this race the track was upgraded to a Dead 5.

Race 5: Marcus Wilson Racing Ratings Band 0-65 H’Cap – 2200m
1st – Kazan 2nd – Black Ninja 3rd – Ima Gonski 4th – Beau Boy

BEAU BOY – Upon arrival at the barriers App R. Ride requested the veterinary surgeon to examine the gelding, which was subsequently cleared to start.

RUSSIAN LACE – Hampered when tightened for room shortly after the start. Shifted wider leaving the 1400m and raced wide from that point onwards.

BLACK NINJA – Overraced for the majority of the event and refused to settle.

WONDERFUL DIAMONDS – Jockey J. Taylor reported it was not his intention to lead today however, after beginning well from the wide barrier he allowed the gelding to stride forward to obtain a position closer to the fence in the lead.

Race 6: Diesel Leaders SEQ Class 4 H’Cap – 1400m
1st – Speedy Sam 2nd – Endless Puzzle 3rd – Rogertheredneck 4th – Etrangere

GUNDY GAL – Slow to begin.

Race 7: Beaurepaires Ashmore Class 1 H’Cap – 1400m
