SUPPLEMENTARY:

As App N. Masuda was ill stewards permitted rider replacements as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.

Race 1: KB Safety Supplies Maiden Plate – 900m
1st – Misery 2nd – Shoutin’ 3rd – You Little Thief 4th – Loveyah Jessie

FROSTY KNICKERS – Blundered on jumping away. Hung out rounding the home turn and continued to do so in the home straight proving difficult to ride. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer S. Morrisey will be advised that a warning would be placed on the filly’s racing manners.
MISERY – Began awkwardly.

MOUNTAIN FIRE – Hung in under pressure in the home straight. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have a slower than normal recovery rate.

HIDDEN MAFIA – Raced wide without cover throughout.

DUPAIR – App M. Murphy reported that the filly laid in throughout and proved difficult to ride. When questioned as to the performance stable representative M. Eggleston was of the opinion that the filly failed to back up from its last start at Ballina on Tuesday 5 April 2016. Mr Eggleston also noted that the filly may not have appreciated racing with the addition of winkers today.


Race 2: Ezy See Workwear QTIS 2YO Maiden Plate – 1200m
1st – Spring Tycoon 2nd – Sweet Caviar 3rd – Quick And Easy 4th – Every Single One

Trainer S. Kendrick was fined $200.00 for the late declaration of N. Thomas as rider of SPRING TYCOON.

The start was delayed when the off side stirrup leather buckle on ISN’T SHE ELEGANT broke, resulting in it having to be replaced.

CLEARFIELD – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout.

SPRING TYCOON – Began awkwardly. Caught wide in the early stages and was ridden forward to the lead.

EVERY SINGLE ONE – Bumped on jumping away. Raced wide in the early stages and passing the 600m was awkwardly placed at the heels of ISN’T SHE ELEGANT.

MY CRIMSON LAD – Bumped on jumping away. Raced wide throughout.

SHADOW BOLT – Bumped on jumping away resulting in jockey A. Spinks losing the use of his off side iron for a short distance. Near the 1100m had to be steadied when tightened for room by DEE CEE DELIGHTS, which was taken in by another runner.

DEE CEE DELIGHTS – Began awkwardly and bumped SHADOW BOLT. Leaving the 1100m was hampered by DOUBLE JAY GOLD, which shifted in.

ISN’T SHE ELEGANT – Hung in in the home straight.


Race 3: McFadyen Group Maiden H’Cap – 1200m
1st – Lyricist 2nd – Elite Force 3rd – Awesome More 4th – Leap Of Legend

Jockey manager D. Wheeler was fined $100.00 for jockey L. Rolls being dually engaged on HOPE ISLAND and BRING ME THE VOICE. Subsequently A. Dykes replaced L. Rolls as the rider on HOPE ISLAND.

The start of the race was delayed when MANABAR and LYRICIST were fractious in the barriers.

MOONLIGHT RAIN – Stood flatfooted as the start was effected and lost ground. Stable representative P. Cuddihy was advised that the gelding will be required to trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to racing again.

LEAP OF LEGEND – Began awkwardly. Hung in under pressure in the home straight.

AWESOME MORE – Began awkwardly. Leaving the 300m was disappointed for a run and was obliged to shift in to secure clear running.

LYRICIST – Began awkwardly and bumped ELITE FORCE.

ELITE FORCE – Bumped on jumping away.

BRING ME THE VOICE – Hampered shortly after the start.

REIGNING THUNDER – Upon straightening had to be steadied when placed in restricted room between LEAP OF LEGEND and HOPE ISLAND, which shifted out marginally. Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.

D. Chipman (BROOKAJOE) was fined $100.00 for excessive use of the whip prior 100m.

Race 4: Train Assess Australia Class 3 Plate – 1800m
1st – Marlene Adele 2nd – Dustman 3rd – Secret Tryst 4th – Hidden Bells

SECRET TRYST – Slow to begin.

LOST THIEF – Overraced in the early and middle stages. Near the 150m had to be steadied when awkwardly placed at the heels of MARLENE ADELE.

EXEMPTION – Jockey L. Rolls reported that the gelding felt short in its action in the home straight and as a result he stopped riding it out over the final 200m. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be displaying an abnormal respiratory noise and also had a small amount of blood in the off side nostril. The results of an endoscopic examination must be provided and the gelding must gallop a 1000m to the satisfaction of stewards prior to racing again.

J. Morris (HIDDEN BELLS) was fined $200.00 for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m.

Race 5: The Mantra Group Class 2 H’Cap – 1400m
1st – Wiggle Wiggle 2nd – Slippery Saga 3rd – Diddy Win Diddy 4th – Waterfront

BAY RAIDER – Blundered at the start. Overraced in the early stages.

SLIPPERY SAGA – Began awkwardly.

WATERFRONT – Hung out rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight.
App M. Murphy (SPECIAL KARMA) was fined $400.00 for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m.

Race 6: Mulherin Rigging And Cranes QTIS 3YO H’Cap – 1800m
1st – Snapper 2nd – Mono Lad 3rd – Show Command 4th – Rosador

SHOW COMMAND – Slow to begin.

ROSADOR – Bumped leaving the 400m.

COOMERA – Bumped leaving the 400m.

Race 7: KB Safety Supplies Class 4 H’Cap – 1100m
1st – Always Sacred 2nd – Groovy Gal 3rd – Pantheress 4th – Hidden Rose

Trainer B. Guy was fined $100.00 for a late gear change to remove the brow band from CHARLIE CAT.

JUST AS LOYAL – Began awkwardly and lost ground.

MR LEBROCK – Slow to begin.

CHOC MOUNTAIN – Bumped shortly after the start.

HIDDEN ROSE – Bumped shortly after the start. Near the 50m attempted to savage GROOVY GAL causing jockey A. Spinks to momentarily steady his mount. A warning was placed on the racing manners of HIDDEN ROSE.

ROUBAIX – Bumped shortly after the start. Raced wide throughout.

GROOVY GAL – Held up rounding the home turn.

CHARLIE CAT – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout. Jockey D. Griffin reported that the gelding hung out for the majority of the event.

Race 8: KB Safety Supplies Class 1 H’Cap – 1200m
1st – I Am The Sculptor 2nd – Saipan 3rd – Nilette 4th – Water Boy

SAIPAN – Approaching the 800m improved onto heels and shifted out. Inconvenienced leaving the 300m.

NASCOSTO – Passing the 800m was taken wider and raced wide from that point onwards.

NILETTE – Raced 3 wide without cover in the early stages.

IRONFIRE – A post race veterinary examination of the gelding, which was eased out of the event rounding the home turn, revealed it to have bled from both nostrils. As this was the second occasion the gelding will now incur a lifetime ban from racing.
