Race 1: Groenz Maiden Plate – 1800m
1st – Regal Lad 2nd – McGill 3rd – Jam with the Duke 4th – Majestic Shadow

GODWOOD - Slow to begin. Trainer G Cornish reported that the gelding returned to the enclosure with its tongue over the bit.

MCGILL – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

BLACK LIGHT – Rounding the first turn near the 1500m, hung out and steadied from the heels of MAJESTIC SHADOW.

JAM WITH THE DUKE – Approaching the 1400m improved onto heels and was steadied.

BAY DREAMER – When questioned, App. T Brooker stated that she had been instructed to improve into the race passing the 600m and then shift wider to obtain clear running in the home straight. App. Brooker added that for this reason she elected to shift to the outside of NIGHTLY AIM upon straightening. App. Brooker further added that once obtaining that position she had difficulty riding the gelding out over the final 300m as it was inclined to lay in at the same time that NIGHTLY AIM was shifting out under pressure. Her explanation was noted.

App. M Murphy (MAJESTIC SHADOW) was fined the sum of $200 for failing to ride his mount out to the end of the race.

Race 2: Mars Foodservices Australia QTIS 3YO Maiden Plate – 1100m
1st – Dylan’s Luck 2nd – Backslapper 3rd – Flo Jo Snip 4th – Power of Bas

KING RED was withdrawn by order of stewards at 1.07pm after the gelding dislodged Jockey Thomas during the preliminary and galloped a considerable distance. All monies invested on KING RED were ordered to be refunded. Deductions applicable to bets placed on the winner and place-getters prior to 1.07pm:

EMVEPEE - Hampered when tightened for room shortly after the start. Jockey S Galloway reported that the colt did not appreciate today’s track conditions.

IT’S NOT CRYSTAL – Near the 900m shifted in and bumped FLO JO SNIP. Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.

FLO JO SNIP - Bumped near the 900m.

POWER OF BAS - Near the 900m inclined to lay in and bumped the hindquarters of IT’S NOT CRYSTAL. Raced wide throughout.

BACKSLAPPER - Jockey reported that the gelding hung in for the majority of the event.

App. M Cox (IT’S NOT CRYSTAL) was reprimanded for using her whip in consecutive strides prior to the 100m.

Race 3: Priestleys Gourmet Delights Class 2 H’cap – 2200m
1st – Betterthanyouthink 2nd – More than a Rose 3rd – Hoagy 4th – Bigmordrive

ROCKIANA - Bumped near the 1600m on a number of occasions. Raced wide during the early stages.

BIGMORDRIVE – Bumped near the 1600m on a number of occasions.

JILL’S JOURNEY - Raced wide during the early and middle stages.

BETTERTHANYOUTHINK – Near the 150m shifted out and bumped MORE THAN A ROSE.

MORE THAN A ROSE – Bumped near the 150m.

Race 4: Edgell Classic Class 3 Plate – 900m
1st – Go Better 2nd – Graceville 3rd – Fell from Heaven 4th – Holder Sunset

FELL FROM HEAVEN – Shortly after the start hampered when tightened for room, lost ground.

GO BETTER – Bumped shortly after the start. Laid out rounding the home turn.

HONEY KO - Bumped shortly after the start.

GRACEVILLE - Raced wide throughout.

RAISE YOUR SPIRITS - Passing the 500m shifted in and made contact with the running rail.

Race 5: Unilever Food Solutions Maiden H’cap – 1300m
1st – Rum ‘N’ Song 2nd – Heroic Rock 3rd – Holy Harry 4th – Primus Invictus

The start was delayed when YOUWONIT was fractious in the barriers. Following this incident Jockey J Taylor was unable to fulfil his engagement and the filly was subsequently withdrawn by order of stewards at 2.58pm. All monies invested on YOUWONIT were ordered to be refunded. Deductions applicable to bets placed on the winner and place-getters prior to 2.58pm:

BROTHER ARNOLD - Slow to begin. Near the 250m accidentally struck over the nose by another rider’s whip and as a result shifted out abruptly.

GUYFORX - Began awkwardly. Approaching the 1000m improved onto heels and was steadied.

RED HOMBRE - Began awkwardly shifted in and bumped RIDENT HOME. Raced wide throughout.

RIDENT HOME - Bumped shortly after the start. Raced wide throughout.

HEROIC ROCK - Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.

RUM ‘N’ SONG – Hung out under pressure in the home straight.

SONADOR CELLAR – Inclined to lay in in the home straight and leaving the 100m steadied when awkwardly placed at the heels of PRIMUS INVICTUS.

Race 6: Ingham Food Services BenchMark 62 H’cap – 1200m
1st – Anne Bonny 2nd – Jack Lancaster 3rd – Gherardini 4th – Best Dance Yet

JACK LANCASTER - Slow to begin. Held up during the early stages of the home straight.

STREET FEVER - Momentarily held up upon straightening.

RIDEONABIGJETPLANE - Began awkwardly. Jockey J Morris reported that in his opinion the gelding had come to the end of its current preparation and advised that it was the stable’s intention that it would now be sent for a spell.
