GENERAL

As J. Collett was overweight stewards permitted rider replacements in races 5 and 6 as per the Stewards Race Day Summary. Jockey Collett was fined $200.00.


Race 1: Jaguar F-Type BenchMark 85 H’Cap – 1200m
1st – Royal Occasion 2nd – Apple Thief 3rd – Kraftwerk 4th – Londehero

SONY LEGEND – Leaving the 500m shifted out and bumped LONDEHERO.

LONDEHERO – Bumped leaving the 500m by SONY LEGEND and became unbalanced.

FLYING RIDDLE – Held up rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight. App B. Appo reported at scale that his mount overraced in the middle stages.

KUDERO – Held up rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight and then near the 200m had to be steadied when disappointed for a run to the inside of the weakening FLORIDA FELLOW and as a consequence went to the line without being fully tested.
SIEGFRIED – Had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early stages of the home straight.

TOTAL AUTHORITY – Raced wide without cover throughout.

KRAFTWERK – Raced wide throughout.

APPLE THIEF – Raced wide throughout.

PERFECT PUNCH – Cast a near fore plate in running.


Race 2: City Of Gold Coast BenchMark 80 H’Cap – 1800m
1st – Court’s Star 2nd – Col ‘N’ Lil 3rd – Mr Lebrock 4th – Walhaan

MR LEBROCK – Slow to begin and then slow to muster speed in the early stages despite the efforts of its rider. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.

FLYING CHARGER – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.

COURT’S STAR – Began awkwardly.

COASTAL GEM – Steadied when tightened for room shortly after the start. Held up over the final 100m.

SURFACE TENSION – Raced wide in the early stages before being ridden forward to settle outside the leader.

FOREVER CRAZY – Leaving the 900m had to be steadied when placed in restricted room to the inside of WALHAAN. A post race veterinary examination of the mare revealed no significant abnormalities.

KOBI CREEK – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.

AVALANCHES – Raced wide throughout.

App J. Oliver (COL ‘N’ LIL) was fined $300.00 for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m.

WALHAAN – A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have sustained a laceration to the off hind fetlock after being galloped on.


Race 3: Jaguar XJ Ken Russell Memorial Classic QTIS 2YO Plate (Group 3) – 1200m
1st – Royal Tithe 2nd – Oink 3rd – Impending 4th – Charnley River

INVERARAY – Slow to begin. Near the 850m had to be steadied when tightened for room by SPOT THE DIFF, which shifted in.

EMPHATICALLY – Began awkwardly.

PUNISHING – Began awkwardly.

IMPENDING – Began awkwardly. Passing the 200m was disappointed for a run to the inside of CHARNLEY RIVER and was then obliged to shift out across the heels of 3 runners to secure clear running.

SPRING TYCOON – Had to be checked when tightened for room near the 200m. Jockey B. Shinn (EMPHATICALLY) was reprimanded for shifting out when insufficiently clear.

EMTEVEE QUEEN – Raced 3 wide without cover for the majority.

SPOT THE DIFF – Jockey B. Spriggs reported at scale that in his opinion his mount had come to the end of its preparation.

PURRARI – When questioned as to the tactics adopted jockey T. Clark stated that the filly raced in a similar manner at its previous start at Canterbury when it showed good early speed. Jockey Clark added that leaving the 900m he attempted to restrain the filly however, it was inclined to overrace and in his opinion it failed to run out a strong 1200m as a result of its racing manners.


Race 4: All-New Jaguar XE Gold Coast Bracelet QTIS 3YO Fillies Plate (Listed) – 1800m
1st – Imposing Lass 2nd – Self Esteem 3rd – Kebede 4th – Falkenberg

RED CHANDELIER – Kicked by another runner behind the barriers, underwent a veterinary examination and was cleared to start.

CAPETOWN HUSSEY – Had to be steadied when tightened for room shortly after the start.

SEBRING SALLY – Hampered shortly after the start. Overraced in the early stages. Raced wide throughout.

FALKENBERG – Held up rounding the home turn. Jockey D. Browne reported that his intention was to obtain a position closer to the speed however, the filly failed to muster the necessary speed in the early stages despite his efforts. Jockey D. Browne was fined $200.00 for failing to ride his mount out to the end of the race. In determining penalty stewards could not be comfortably satisfied that jockey Browne’s actions had cost the filly third place.

CIRCULAR – Held up rounding the home turn.

LADY ATHENA – Held up in the early stages of the home straight. Passing the 100m was obliged to shift in and away from the heels of another runner.

PRETTY LUCKY – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.

QUEEN OF WANDS – Raced wide throughout.


Race 5: Better Than Rready Silk Stocking (Listed) – 1200m
1st – Eloping 2nd – Miss Cover Girl 3rd – Zestful 4th – Adorabubble

Stewards accepted the explanation tendered by trainer S. Jones for the late declaration of B. Spriggs as the rider of CROOKED STICK.

CROOKED STICK – Fractious in the barriers. Raced wide throughout.

TINA MELINA – Fractious in the barriers and began awkwardly. Approaching the 250m was inconvenienced by TRAVESTON GIRL, which shifted in.

BRING ME THE MAID – Slow to begin. Jockey B. Shinn reported at scale that his mount was reluctant to race throughout the event.

JESSY BELLE – Bumped at the start. Held up rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight.

ROSENET – Near the 900m had to be steadied from heels.

SARISARA – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.

TRAVESTON GIRL – Raced wide throughout.


Race 6: Bruce Lynton Jaguar Prime Minister’s Cup (Listed) – 1400m
1st – Coolring 2nd – Snippets Land 3rd – Jumbo Prince 4th – Worthy Cause

As jockey B. Pengelly was overweight stewards permitted M. Cahill to be substituted as the rider of PILLAR OF CREATION. B. Pengelly was fined $200.00.

COOLRING – The stable advised their intention was to lead on the gelding today. The horse was ridden accordingly.

CHOICE BRO – Passing the 500m had to be steadied when placed in restricted room to the inside of HI SON.

HI SON – Held up rounding home turn.

PILLAR OF CREATION – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.

DOUBLE IMPACT – Raced wide throughout.

LE VAL - Raced wide throughout.

AKAVOROUN - Raced wide throughout.

MAHICAN - Raced wide throughout. When questioned as to the tactics adopted jockey Wiggins stated that he was instructed to ride the gelding in a midfield position with cover, as it had previously performed best when ridden in this manner. Jockey Wiggins added that from the awkward barrier he was concerned that he was going to be caught 3 wide early so elected to restrain to obtain cover, which resulted in him racing further back than anticipated. Trainer T. Bailey confirmed the instructions and added that similar instructions had been issued at the gelding’s previous runs.

Following the running of this event the track was upgraded to a Good 3.


Race 7: All-New Jaguar F-Pace A.D. Hollindale Stakes (Group 2) – 1800m
1st – Leebaz 2nd – Hauraki 3rd – Volkstok’n’barrell 4th – Old North

PUCCINI – Overraced in the early stages.

KOOL KOMPANY – Overraced in the early and middle stages.

SPIRITJIM – Rounding the first turn near the 1400m was inclined to overrace and hung out.

HONEY TOAST – Taken wider on the track by SPIRITJIM passing the 1400m and was then ridden forward to settle outside the leader.

OLD NORTH – Held up rounding the home turn.

IT’S SOMEWHAT – Passing the 200m had to be steadied when disappointed for a run to the inside of VOLKSTOK’N’ BARRELL. Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.

VOLKSTOK’N’BARRELL – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

EXCESS KNOWLEDGE – When questioned as to the disappointing performance jockey T. Harrison stated that she was instructed to ride the horse more forward today and added that her mount travelled particularly well after obtaining cover near the 1200m however, she was disappointed in its efforts in finishing the race off. Jockey Harrison noted that the horse had cast a near hind plate. A post race veterinary examination revealed the horse to be lame in the near fore leg. Veterinary clearance required prior to next start.


Race 8: All-New Jaguar XF Gold Coast Guineas QTIS 3YO Plate (Group 3) - - 1200m
1st – Takedown 2nd – Sold For Song 3rd – Always Sacred 4th – Craiglea Wandoo

SANTA ANA LANE – The start was delayed when the gelding became fractious in the barriers, underwent a veterinary examination and was cleared to race. When questioned as to the performance jockey D. Browne stated that his intention was to obtain a position closer to the speed today however, after being fractions in the barriers the gelding was slow to muster speed despite his efforts, which resulted in the gelding settling further back in the field than anticipated. Jockey Browne added that the gelding was momentarily held up upon straightening before shifting out after which it commenced to improve into the race. However, the gelding was held up for clear running over the final 100m and as a consequence went to the line without being fully tested. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. A warning will be placed on the gelding’s barrier manners.

SOLD FOR SONG – Slow to begin.

THE VIRGINIAN – Began awkwardly. Inconvenienced near the 1100m and as a consequence raced 4 wide throughout.

BIG TREE – Inconvenienced near the 1100m and a short distance later had to be steadied when awkwardly placed at the heels of ALWAYS SACRED. Raced wide throughout.

PERFECT DARE – Inconvenienced near the 1100m and as a consequence raced 4 wide without cover throughout.

IN HIS STRIDE – Near the 900m had to be steadied when placed in restricted room. Leaving the 400m had to be steadied from heels.

BRIGADOON RISE – Held up for clear running between the 400m and 200m.

UNO BEST – Leaving the 200m was hampered by BRIGADOON RISE, which shifted out to improve.

ALWAYS SACRED – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.

HESITATION – Raced wide throughout.

PRIVLAKA – Jockey G. Colless reported that his intention was to settle in a midfield position however, after beginning well from the inside barrier the gelding found itself in a handy position. Jockey Colless was of the opinion that the gelding is better suited when ridden further back in the field.
