As a consequence of the slow tempo being set by SCOUTABOUT, he was concerned that he would be caught 3 wide and therefore elected to stride forward to settle outside PALEFACE ALI. When questioned as to the change in tactics, Trainer B Guy stated that the gelding had been notoriously slow to begin at its recent starts and with the removal of the blinkers today it began better than expected.
