Race 1: McLauchlan & Partners Maiden H’cap – 1100m
1st – Tofu Mick   2nd – The Management   3rd – Heza Demon   4th – Night Whisper
 
Trainer R Craig advised that TOFU MICK which had been advertised as an entire was gelded prior to today’s race.  Public announcements were made to this effect.
 
As Jockey J Morris was unable to make the weight, he was replaced on REAL ELUSIVE by Jockey S Galloway.  Jockey Morris’ explanation was accepted.
 
The start was delayed when HAVEN WHISPER proved difficult to load.   A warning was placed on the mare’s barrier manners.
 
HAVEN WHISPER – Began very awkwardly and shifted in abruptly.
 
HEZA DEMON - Began awkwardly.  Shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
SAGA DEL MAR – Slow to begin.
 
PRINCIPESSA - Began awkwardly.  Near the 700m taken wider on the track by THE MANAGEMENT and raced 3 wide without cover from that point onwards.
 
NIGHT WHISPER - Bumped on jumping away and lost ground.
 
HUSSONPLAZA - Slow to begin.
 
SPORTS REPORT - Raced wide throughout.  Raced greenly throughout.
 
REAL ELUSIVE – Raced wide throughout.   Near the 700m steadied from the heels of PRINCIPESSA.
 
ROTH’S DANCER - Near the 700m steadied from the heels of HUSSONPLAZA.
 
SONADOR ANGEL - Leaving the 100m steadied when tightened for room between PRINCIPESSA and HEZA DEMON which shifted out.  App. J Woodhouse (HEZA DEMON) was reprimanded and advised to exercise greater care in future. 
 
Race 2: Men of Business Maiden Plate – 1800m
1st – Trust Misty   2nd – Suncansing   3rd – Fairy Dancer   4th – Pillsbury Lane
 
The start was delayed when BERLINETTA refused to be loaded in the barriers.  BERLINETTA was subsequently withdrawn by order of stewards at 1.55pm.  All monies invested on BERLINETTA were ordered to be refunded.  Deductions applicable to bets placed on the winner and place-getters prior to 1.55pm:
 
7 cents in the dollar for the Win #15 – TRUST MISTY
9 cents in the dollar for place of winner #15 – TRUST MISTY
7 cents in the dollar for 2nd place #6 - SUNCANSING
6 cents in the dollar for 3rd place #13 – FAIRY DANCER
 
Trainer M Wilson was advised that BERLINETTA must compete in an official trial prior to its next race start.
 
MR MALU - Hampered at the start.
 
MALDITA - Slow to begin.
 
SHINOBI – Slow to begin.
 
SUNCANSING - Slow to begin.
 
PILLSBURY LANE - Raced wide during the early and middle stages.
 
BLACK LIGHT - Raced wide throughout.
 
FAIRY DANCER – Held up rounding the home turn and during the early stages of the home straight.
 
FLIGHT PRINCE – Near the 400m steadied when placed in restricted room.
 
BARAMBAH BELLE - Jockey L Dittman reported that despite travelling well during the early and middle stages, the mare failed to respond to his riding from a point leaving the 600m and proved disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be slightly lame in the near hind leg.  Trainer M Dunn was advised that a veterinary certificate of fitness would be required prior to mare’s next race start.
 
BIG DEAL - When questioned as to the tactics adopted when electing to press forward of BARAMBAH BELLE and lead instead of remaining in a position outside of BARAMBAH BELLE, Jockey C Dell stated that the gelding had previously suffered from respiratory issues and as a consequence did not perform well when being restrained and for this reason he allowed it to stride forward to the lead.  His explanation was noted. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities at the time of examination.
 
TRUST MISTY – A post-race veterinary examination revealed a laceration to the near hind heel. 
 
Race 3: Von Bibra Motors Class 3 Plate – 2200m
1st – Weekend Winner   2nd – Splendid Stryker   3rd – McGill   4th – Kazan
 
MCGILL - Raced wide during the early stages.
 
MARLAHN – App. S Lacy was questioned regarding the tactics adopted when electing to press forward of EXITEMENT LEVELS in the early stages to obtain the lead.   App. Lacy stated that she was instructed to lead at all costs.  Trainer G Schwenke confirmed these instructions.
 
EXCITEMENT LEVELS – Over-raced during the early stages.
 
App. M Murphy (MONT DE LOIR) was fined $100 for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m.  
 
Jockey L Dittman (SPLENDID STRYKER) was fined $100 for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m.  
 
Race 4: Kevin & Sue Berger Ratings Band 0-65 H’cap – 900m
1st – Deepest   2nd – Hidden Love   3rd – Destiva   4th – Positive Quest
 
HARADA TAT TAT - Reared as the start was effected and lost ground.
 
SPIRITED SAINT - Slow to muster speed.
 
VIA CON DIOS - Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.
 
BLU THE LOT - Raced wide throughout.
 
HIDE THE MOON - Bumped Heavily by POSITIVE QUEST upon straightening.
 
POSITIVE QUEST - Upon straightening disappointed for a run to the inside of DESTIVA and then made heavy contact with HIDE THE MOON.  As a consequence was held up until approaching the 200m at which point it was obliged to shift out to secure clear running.  It was reported following the race that the mare sustained a puncture wound to the near fore leg.
 
After the running of this event, the track was upgraded to a ‘good 3’.
 
Race 5: Perry Cross Spinal Research Foundation C,G&E Ratings Band 0-65 H’cap – 1200m
1st – Be the Magic   2nd – Tin’s Pocket   3rd – Sippin’bundy   4th – Temple Tilt
 
RUFFO - Slow to begin.  Over-raced during the early stages.
 
TEMPLE TILT - Slow to begin. Passing the 700m steadied from heels.  Held up rounding the home turn.
 
HOW CAN I HELP - Over-raced during the early stages.  Leaving the 700m steadied from heels.  Approaching the 400m steadied from heels.
 
SIPPIN’BUNDY - Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.
 
NOVEMBER GREY - Raced wide throughout.
 
OUR CLARKY - Near the 250m steadied when placed in restricted room to the inside of BE THE MAGIC which was taken in by TIN’S POCKET.
 
BE THE MAGIC - Hampered by TIN’S POCKET near the 250m and approaching the 100m was again inconvenienced by TIN’S POCKET which shifted out under pressure.
 
TIN’S POCKET - Shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
Race 6: McLauchlan Wealth F&M Ratings Band 0-65 H’cap – 1200m
1st – Amata   2nd – Je Suis Prest   3rd – Media Maid   4th – Choice Princess
 
As Jockey B Newport was unable to fulfil his riding engagement due to personal reasons, he was replaced on EKOFANIDEA by Jockey V Johnston.
 
CHOICE PRINCESS - Steadied when tightened for room at the start.
 
MINKUS - Began awkwardly.  Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.
 
KOLONGA - Over-raced during the early stages and leaving the 900m steadied from the heels of AMATA.  Approaching the 400m shifted out to improve and bumped PANCH KAYLAN.
 
PANCH KAYLAN - Bumped by KOLONGA near the 400m.
 
Race 7: McLauchlan Investments Class 2 H’cap – 1400m
1st – Gambled   2nd – Blooming Tycoon   3rd – Halls Creek   4th – Star Fest
 
HALLS CREEK - Slow to begin.  Over-raced during the early stages.
 
RED HOT ELEMENT - Began awkwardly.  Over-raced during the early stages.
 
HYPERACTIVE - Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.  Rounding the home turn inconvenienced by HALLS CREEK which shifted out.
 
WEHRMAN - Raced wide throughout.
 
STAR FEST – Rounding the home turn inconvenienced by HYPERACTIVE which was taken out by HALLS CREEK.
