Guthmann-Chester stated that he was instructed to pressure the gelding out of the barriers in an effort to take up a forward position, as it had suffered interference in the early stages at its previous 2 starts, which had resulted in it racing further back than anticipated on those occasions. App Guthmann-Chester added that passing the 1200m he was obliged to continue riding the gelding in an effort to clear HARADIFY, which resulted in him racing a ½ length forward of CASTANITA. After which he allowed the gelding to continue to stride forward to secure the outright lead where the gelding was inclined to overrace during the middle stages despite his efforts. Stewards advised App Guthmann-Chester that he should have made a greater effort to maintain the position outside of CASTANITA instead of allowing the gelding to stride forward to the lead.
