RACE 1: Spectrum Transport Systems (Qld) C,G&E Maiden H’cap
1st: Park Chinois    2nd: Bound to Me    3rd: Chicago Nights    4th:  Camillo
 
JUMP ON BOARD – Slow to begin.  Near the 900m shifted in and bumped MURRAY RIVER.
 
SILVER BEACH – Bumped heavily at the start by JUMP ON BOARD.
 
MURRAY RIVER – Jumped away awkwardly and lost ground.  Bumped near the 900m.
 
CHICAGO NIGHTS – Soon after the start inconvenienced when tightened for room.
 
REDEMUS – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.
 
VOUCH FOR ME – Over-raced during the early stages. When questioned, Jockey L Rolls could offer no explanation for today’s disappointing performance.  A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities at the time of examination.
 
CAMILLO – Over-raced during the early stages.
 
BROOKAJOE – Over the final stages steadied from the heels of CAMILLO which shifted out under pressure.
 
RACE 2: Agri Food Ingredients F&M Maiden H’cap – 1200m
1st: Lady Vixen    2nd: Liquid Rain    3rd: Denlago    4th:  Champagne Charlee
 
As Jockey R McMahon failed to arrive on course by the prescribed time, he was replaced on MY GIRL ELLA by App. M Murphy.  Stewards subsequently accepted Jockey McMahon’s explanation for his late arrival.
 
GOOD MANEUVER – The mare which was fractious leaving the mounting yard and dislodged Jockey K Matheson, underwent a veterinary examination upon arrival at the gates and was passed to race.
 
SAY NEIGH - Jumped very awkwardly and lost ground.  Trainer H Page advised stewards that the filly which performed poorly, would now be retired from racing.
 
LIQUID RAIN - Jumped away awkwardly, shifted out and bumped CALISTO.  Raced 3 wide throughout.
 
LUCY LE ROC - Jumped away awkwardly and Jockey B Grylls became unbalanced.  Checked approaching 1000m. Approaching and passing the 100m, checked when disappointed for a run between MISS PARKIN which was weakening and HEATHER’S GRACE which shifted in slightly when under pressure.
 
CALISTO – Bumped shortly after the start.  It was reported that the filly lost its off fore plate in running.
 
CHAMPAGNE CHARLEE – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.
 
WHAT DO YA THINK – Raced 3 wide throughout.
 
DENLAGO – Raced 3 wide throughout.
 
CASINO EVIL – Over the final stages App. G Mitchell was unable to test her mount as it was awkwardly placed at the heels of the tiring GOOD MANEUVER.
 
Jockey V Johnston (LADY VIXEN) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) for permitting her mount to shift in approaching the 1000m when not fully clear of LUCY LE ROC which had to check and as a consequence caused tightening to ANGELA’S BEAUTY.  Jockey Johnston was suspended from riding in races for a period of 8 days to commence midnight 22/04/17 and to expire midnight 30/04/17.
 
App. C Bayliss (CHAMPAGNE CHARLEE) pleaded guilty to a charge under AR137(b) in that he failed to ride his mount out to the end of the race.  When assessing penalty stewards could not be satisfied that his actions had a material effect on the placings in the race and he was subsequently fined $200.
 
Jockey S Galloway (DENLAGO) was issued with a reprimand for failing to ride his mount out to the end of the race.
 
 
RACE 3: Food Traders Australia (FTA) Class 1 H’cap – 1800m
1st: Kermandie Star    2nd: Empress Zhao    3rd: Royal Script    4th:  Champagne Kisses
 
PREMIERE PLACE - Approaching the 1200m steadied from the heels of DARKENING.  When the pace slowed approaching the 1000m when over-racing, had to shift wider and raced 3 wide without cover from that point.
 
ENDLESS HOPE – When questioned, Jockey D Griffin stated that the filly’s performance was disappointing and he could offer no tangible explanation.
 
RACE 4: Noble Park Distribution (NPD) Class 1 – 900m
1st: Miss Maneuver    2nd: Alatora    3rd: Famous Grouse    4th:  It’s Wanted
 
IT’S WANTED - Hampered at the start when bumped by another runner.
 
MISS MANEUVER - Hampered at the start.
 
NOT A BAD JOKER - Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
NO EQUAL – Bled during the event.  As this was the second occasion on which the gelding had bled, it will incur a lifetime ban from racing.
 
RACE 5: St Dalfour QTIS 3YO H’cap – 1400m
1st: Quick and Easy    2nd: Aussie Tycoon    3rd: Sidetrip    4th:  Collar’s Up
 
SIDERO STAR - Slow to begin.
 
SIDETRIP - When the pace steadied near the 1000m, began to over-race and had to check to avoid the heels of COLLAR’S UP.  Passing the 900m when over-racing, shifted to a 3 wide position.
 
SISTER PATTI – Tightened for room soon after the start when COLLAR’S UP shifted in.  App. M Murphy (COLLAR’S UP) was issued with a reprimand and advised to show far greater care when shifting ground in similar circumstances. Near the 900m forced wider by another runner. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities at the time of examination.  Trainer L Ross advised that the filly would now be sent for a spell.
 
HIDDEN BUDGET – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be suffering from cardiac arrhythmia.  Trainer K Schweida would be advised that she must produce the results of an ECG and the filly must perform in a 1000m gallop.
 
RACE 6: Pluspak F&M Class 2 H’cap – 1400m
1st: Prolific Belle    2nd: Rainbow Lace    3rd: Je Suis Prest    4th:  Shuda Known Better
 
MOROVA MISS – Near the 800m when over-racing became awkward at the heels of JE SUIS PREST.
 
PROLIFIC BELLE – Near the 600m forced wider on the track.
 
SOLICITATION – Near the 600m clipped heels and blundered losing considerable ground.
 
Jockey Ric McMahon (MOROVA MISS) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) for permitting his mount to shift out near the 600m which resulted in PROLIFIC BELLE being forced wider and SOLICITATION clipping the heels of PROLIFIC BELLE and blundering, losing considerable ground.  Jockey McMahon was suspended from riding in races for a period of 12 days to commence midnight 25/04/17 and to expire midnight 07/05/17.
 
An inquiry was adjourned into the reason for App. C Bayliss (PEGAPUS) having to be checked near the 800m.
 
RACE 7: Spectrum Transport Systems (Qld) Class 3 H’cap – 1200m
1st: Lolly Shoppe    2nd: Panch Kalyan    3rd: Devastating Rhythm    4th:  Comic Story
 
Trainer L Garrett advised that GOOD JUDGE would be ridden midfield with cover - ridden accordingly.
 
LIBERTY ISLAND – Slow to begin.
 
BAGUS – When questioned Jockey B Grylls could offer no tangible explanation for the disappointing performance. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities at the time of examination.
 
PANCH KALYAN – Stewards questioned App. M MacGillivray regarding the tactics he adopted on PANCH KALYAN approaching and rounding the home turn and whether he had considered shifting to the outside of LIBERTY ISLAND to ensure he had an unimpeded run to the finish.  App. MacGillivray stated that approaching the home turn PANCH KALYAN was travelling very well and he was prevented from shifting to the outside of LIBERTY ISLAND as his mount had improved to the inside of that runner and he was attempting a narrow run between GENERATE and LIBERTY ISLAND.  He added that he had to check near the 250m when disappointed for a run between those two runners when LIBERTY ISLAND shifted in slightly.  App. MacGillivray further added that when he was able to shift to the outside over the final 200m the mare finished the race off strongly.  Stewards noted his explanation.
 
RACE 8: PM’s Cup 6th May C,G&E Class 2 H’cap – 1400m

TAMMANY HALL - Held up and unable to secure clear running approaching and rounding the home turn when awkwardly placed at the heels of the tiring MR METICULOUS.
 
WACK’EM – App. C Bayliss could offer no explanation for today’s disappointing performance.  A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities at the time of examination.  Stewards will interview Trainer S Morrisey regarding today’s performance.
