Stewart and C. Schmidt were indisposed due to illness stewards permitted rider replacements as per the Stewards Race Day Summary. SUPPLEMENTARY From Toowoomba Meeting 8/4/2017 – Race 9 Trainer D. Vandyke reported that SHANFRANSICO was subsequently found to be suffering from a respiratory virus and has since recovered.From Sunshine Coast Meeting 14/5/2017 – Race 1 Trainer A. Willick reported that LASER SIGHT was found to be sore in the off fore fetlock following its disappointing performance. RACE 1: Sky Racing Maiden H’Cap – 2200m DRAGON RACER – Trainer A. Plumb advised the intention would be to settle the horse in a more forward position today if circumstances permit. After being slow to begin the horse settled at the rear of the field. SURFERS DOLPHINS – Unable to improve when held up for some distance passing the 600m. OPTION TRADER – Disappointed for a run leaving the 300m and was held up until the 150m. Jockey P. Hammersley reported at scale that the gelding hung in throughout which prevented him from riding it out over the concluding stages. Trainer B. Smith was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding’s racing manners. Mr Smith indicated that the gelding would be retired from his stable. BRIGADIER SAM – Trainer B. Smith reported that the gelding was sore in the near fore leg following the race. A veterinary clearance will be required prior to the gelding racing again. RACE 2: Trackside Tapas Maiden Plate – 1200m BROOKE EXPRESS – Slow to begin. MOUNT PANORAMA – Slow to begin. BAY MOSS – Began awkwardly. WITNESS – Raced wide without cover throughout. SUILVEN – Raced wide throughout. TANIWHA – Raced wide throughout. Following the running of this event the track was upgraded to a Soft 5. RACE 3: Gallery Restaurant Maiden Plate – 1200m NASHVILLE SKYLINE – Lost ground at the start after being bumped by EXCEED ALL ODDS, which in turn was taken out making contact with SNEAKY GLANCE. Unable to improve between the 700m and 500m. When questioned as to the performance jockey L. Cassidy reported that after being hampered at the start he was obliged to race further back in the field than anticipated. Jockey Cassidy added that after securing clear running rounding the home turn the filly finished the race off fairly and in his opinion would be better suited when racing over further distances. EXCEED ALL ODDS – Bumped at the start. SNEAKY GLANCE – Bumped at the start. Raced wide for the majority. CAPTAIN THE WORLD – Overraced in the early and middle stages. TURQUOISE – Near the 900m had to be steadied from the heels of NO MORE HEIGHTS and lost ground. Near the 700m had to be steadied when awkwardly placed at the heels of NO MORE HEIGHTS. Upon straightening had to be steadied from the heels of ARGENT ETOILE. When questioned as to the disappointing performance jockey J. Byrne stated that after suffering interference near the 900m the filly failed to race tractably at any stage thereafter. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. G. Colless the rider of NO MORE HEIGHTS was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR137(a) in that he allowed his mount to shift in near the 900m when insufficiently clear of TURQUOISE, which had to be steadied and lost ground. Jockey Colless’ licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of nine (9) days to commence midnight 24 May 2017 and expire midnight 2 June 2017. ON OR ABOUT – Obliged to race in restricted room near the 700m. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities and a swab sample was taken. VICTORY DANCE – Held up approaching the home turn before hanging out rounding the home turn. REDEMUS – Held up rounding the home turn. NO MORE HEIGHTS – Shifted out under pressure in the home straight. ARGENT ETOILE – Leaving the 300m had to be steadied from the heels of VICTORY DANCE, which shifted out. Raced wide throughout. RACE 4: Langs Building Supplies QTIS 2YO H’Cap – 900m As R. Plumb was overweight stewards permitted M. McGuren to be substituted as the rider of SNAPCHAT GIRL. Jockey Plumb was subsequently fined $200. CRUSHER – Underwent a veterinary examination behind the barriers at the request of its rider and subsequently cleared to start. Began awkwardly. A post race veterinary examination revealed the filly had sustained an abrasion to the near hind hock. BEST PROPSECT – Hampered at the start. MI INSTINCT – Hampered at the start. SNAPCHAT GIRL – Bumped at the start. Hung out rounding home turn. Near the 100m had to be steadied when tightened for room between SHE’S UP BEAT and GWAPO. Both jockeys R. Fradd (GWAPO) and M. Hellyer (SHE’S UP BEAT) were advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances after allowing their respective mounts to shift ground. RIO ROSIE – Shortly after the start had to be steadied when tightened for room and lost ground. FORTUNE STAR – Laid in for the majority of the event. WONDER BOOM –App M. McGillivray reported at scale that the colt laid in rounding the home turn.RACE 5: Architectural Window Systems BenchMark 65 H’Cap – 900m Trainer S. Kendrick was fined $200 for the late declaration of App T. Brooker as the rider of GRACEVILLE. GO BETTER – Began awkwardly. Hung out rounding the home turn. SIR DONALD – Began awkwardly. HONEY KO – Began awkwardly. Race 4 wide without cover throughout. GRACEVILLE – Slow to begin. TRUCULENT – Upon straightening was bumped by SIR DONALD and a short distance later was inconvenienced by that runner when it shifted out marginally. Raced 3 wide without cover throughout. STARANTE – Raced wide throughout. RACE 6: Hyne Timber-T2 Blue Framing Class 2 H’Cap – 1200m The start was delayed when a number of horses were placed in the incorrect barriers and subsequently had to be repositioned. SOFT TOP – Began awkwardly. MATHIESON LANE – Slow to begin. ENDLESS DAYS – Slow to begin. Upon straightening had to be steadied from the heels of AZARENKA. COMIC STORY – Hung in for the majority which prevented its rider from riding the gelding out in the home straight. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Connections were advised that due to today’s performance the gelding will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official trial. CRAZY POPS – Jockey L. Tarrant reported at scale that the gelding felt sore behind. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer S. Lawlor expressed her disappointment in the performance and could only add that the gelding may not have been suited when being pressured for the lead throughout the race. Ms Lawlor undertook to report any abnormalities that may come to light in the days subsequent to the event. EXCEEDINGLY CANNY – When questioned regarding the poor performance App B. Ainsworth reported that the mare travelled reasonably well until the 600m and from that point on commenced to hang out and proved disappointing in the run to the line. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer L. Richardson expressed his disappointment in the mare’s performance today and was unable to offer any explanation. Mr Richardson advised should anything come to light in the coming days he will inform the stewards. RACE 7: Hume Doors And Timber Class 2 H’Cap – 1200m SALMANAZAR – Near the 500m had to be steadied when awkwardly placed at the heels of FALKIRK DRIVE. MA RAISON – Upon straightening was bumped heavily by SACROMONTE. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. SACROMONTE – Upon straightening shifted out and made contact with MA RAISON. RAKITNO – Leaving the 300m was disappointed for a run. FALKIRK DRIVE – Bumped near the 250m. Raced wide throughout. Jockey R. Fradd reported the gelding was awkward in its action over the concluding stages and may have struck itself behind during the event. ROCK ON DESTINY – Bumped near the 250m. JACKPOT – Jockey D. Brown dropped his whip leaving the 200m. FABVIER – Raced wide without cover throughout. Jockey M. Cahill (MISS CHATTERING) was fined $200 for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m. RACE 8: Mitek Australia Class 1 H’Cap – 1800m SUNRISE GLORY - Examined by the veterinary surgeon upon arriving on course after it was reported a small amount of blood was present in one nostril and was subsequently cleared to start. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding had sustained a laceration to the near side cannon. LITTLE BITA LOVE – Trainer T. Edmonds advised the mare would be ridden off the speed today if circumstances permit. After beginning well overraced in the lead before being crossed by SIOSTRA near the 1200m. SHINE TAK STAR – Hampered shortly after the start. Raced wide without cover for the majority of the event. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding had sustained a laceration to both hind legs consistent with being galloped on. THE BARRACUDA – Hampered shortly after the start. Raced wide in the early stages. Held up rounding the home turn. WICKED QUEEN – Held up rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight. SHARP SPEEDO – Had to be steadied for some distance rounding the home turn when placed in restricted room between runners.ROYAL RECEIVER – Held up rounding the home turn and shifted out making heavy contact with SHARP SPEEDO. FASHION SAGA – A post race veterinary examination revealed the mare had bled from the off side nostril during the event. Trainer D. Graham was advised the gelding must satisfactorily gallop 1000m before being permitted to race again. SIOSTRA – Jockey T. Harrison reported at scale that with the addition of blinkers today the filly was caught wide in the early stages and as a consequence she rode forward to obtain the lead near the 1200m. Jockey L. Tarrant (ABERLADY) was reprimanded for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m. Jockey R. Stewart (MIABLA) was fined $200 for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m. RACE 9: Langs Building Supplies Class 3 H’Cap – 1400m LIBERTY ISLAND – Began awkwardly. TRUMP IT – Began awkwardly and a short distance later was hampered by another runner. RAMATUELLE – Bumped at the start. BINARY – Bumped at the start. Raced wide throughout. MISHANI PHOENIX – Overraced in the early stages. SAY YOU LOVE ME – Overraced in the early stages. LAREBIL – Overraced in the early stages before shifting out near the 1000m after which it raced wide without cover. HOTEL COSTE – Leaving the 1000m was inconvenienced by LAREBIL. Raced wide throughout. BLOOMING TYCOON – Over the concluding stages had to be steadied when placed in restricted room. Raced wide without cover throughout. EMVEPEE – Held up over the concluding stages. THE LAST KISS – Near the 100m had to be steadied when placed in restricted room.
