RACE 1: Seppelt QTIS 2yo H’cap – 1300m 1st: Pure Luck 2nd: Misprint 3rd: Zukaz 4th: Leroy Rocks Due to a report from Trainer J Zielke that he was delayed due to a traffic accident and he would be late arriving on course for race 1, Stewards after consultation with Sky Channel, amended the start time for Race 1 to 12:06pm. GOLDEN COMMAND and MISPRINT underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and were cleared to start. Prior to the announcement of correct weight, Trainer of the 2nd placegetter MISPRINT, wished to view the photo-finish image and after doing so was satisfied with the judge’s decision. ZUKAZ - Began awkwardly and shifted out. GOLDEN COMMAND - Began awkwardly. Post-race the trainer advised after speaking to the owners that it may be the intention to have the colt gelded prior to racing again. SWISS LOVE - Began awkwardly and shifted out abruptly losing ground. Passing the 600m forced wider on the track by GOLDEN COMMAND which was endeavouring to improve and then wanted to hang out rounding the home turn. PURE LUCK – Brushed on a number of occasions in the home straight by LEROY ROCKS which was hanging out. LEROY ROCKS - Jockey B Grylls reported at scale that her mount had a tendency to lay out during the event. RACE 2: Wolf Blass Open H’cap – 1800m 1st: Blackjack Bella 2nd: Court’s Star 3rd: Bernie of Babylon 4th: Magnatune SAGA MISS - Reared as the start was effected and lost ground. RACE 3: Yellowglen Maiden H’cap – 900m 1st: Killerman’s Run 2nd: Alastriona 3rd: Angel’s Scent 4th: Nicc’s Poet As Jockey S Galloway was indisposed due to personal reasons, Stewards permitted App. M McGillivray to replace him on RIPPER REEBA. KILLERMAN’S RUN which broke through the barriers prior to the start, was restrained and examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to start. Prior to correct weight Jockey R Plumb the rider of DRAGONS ESPRIT wished to view the head-on to determine if his horse which lunged at the barriers had effected the start. After viewing the films, stewards were satisfied that the start was effected by the starter and no advantage or disadvantage was apportioned to DRAGONS ESPRIT. DRAGONS ESPRIT - Began awkwardly and shifted in bumping another runner. FADING MIST - Severely hampered on jumping away by DRAGONS ESPRIT which shifted in. Jockey C Whitely reported at scale that the filly raced very greenly throughout. POET LAD - Slow to begin. ANGEL’S SCENT - After jumping, raced ungenerously and attempted to buck on a number of occasions and lost ground. Trainer L Kelly was advised that a warning would be placed against the filly regarding its racing manners. ONENESS - Stewards questioned Jockey L Rolls regarding his riding of the gelding. Jockey Rolls stated that after being hampered at the start by RIPPER REEBA, he settled further back than anticipated. Passing the 700m he was bumped by WAR DRUM on a number of occasions and was held up on the back of runners that weren’t taking him into the race. He further added that approaching the home turn he had to be steadied away from the heels of ARGO’S REVENGE and when rounding the home turn he contemplated improving to the outside of WAR DRUM’S heels however, he was mindful of ARGO’S REVENGE which was racing to his outside, racing greenly and being inclined to roll about. He therefore elected to shift back to the inside of WAR DRUM where he was able to obtain clear running and in his opinion the gelding found the line fairly. Stewards noted Jockey Rolls’ comments. ARGENT ETOILE – Raced wide throughout. ALASTRIONA - Passing the 200m shifted in under pressure making contact with DRAGONS ESPRIT. NICC’S POET - Inclined to lay out under pressure over the concluding stages. App. G Mitchell reported at scale that the saddle shifted passing the 700m placing her at some disadvantage. KILLERMAN’S RUN - When questioned regarding the performance, Trainer G Stockdale expressed his view that at its first run for him some 5 months ago, 1200m may have been a little bit too far for the gelding on that occasion. He also stated that the gelding is an excitable horse and has trialled and worked well prior to today’s event which in his opinion was over a more suitable distance today and he expected the horse to perform competitively. Stewards noted his explanation. RACE 4: Wynns Ratings Band 0 – 60 H’cap – 900m 1st: Deepest 2nd: Don’t Play Around 3rd: Apollo Hope 4th: Whispering Wings A pre-race veterinary examination of YOU LITTLE THIEF passed the gelding to start. DEEPEST - After passing the 800m, steadied away from the heels of MISS ZINZIN (G Mitchell) which shifted in. App. G Mitchell was asked to exercise more care when shifting ground in future. Passing the 500m had to be steadied away from heels and was then held up for clear running until straightening. DON’T PLAY AROUND - Inclined to lay out under pressure over the concluding stages. YOU LITTLE THIEF - Inclined to lay in under pressure over the concluding stages. After the running of Race 4, the track was upgraded to a Good 3. RACE 5: Matua Maiden Plate – 1400m 1st: Prince of Tie 2nd: Mudgee Road 3rd: Ned’s Round 4th: Robbers Cobber As Jockey J Morris was indisposed due to illness, Stewards permitted Jockey M Hellyer to replace him on MUDGEE ROAD. RACE 6: Squeling Pig Class 1 H’cap – 1200m 1st: Sharpamal 2nd: Five Stud Poker 3rd: Roses of Joy 4th: Meghapushpa FALKIRK DRIVE which was fractious in the mounting yard was examined at the barriers by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to start. Correct weight was delayed to allow Jockey B Stewart the rider of the 5th placegetter (ARROGANT BOY) to look at the film with a view to lodging an objection against the 4th placegetter. After looking at the film he declined to proceed and correct weight was semaphored. FALKIRK DRIVE - Slow to begin and then blundered shortly after the start. Passing the 800m commenced to over-race and got its head up on a number of occasions. Held up rounding the home turn. Disappointed for a run approaching the 250m and was then held up to a point passing the 100m when unable to obtain clear running. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be showing soreness at flexion of the near fore fetlock and near fore knee. Trainer S Morrisey was advised that the gelding would require a veterinary certificate of fitness prior to its next race start. LOVE BATTLE – Severely hampered shortly after the start. ROSES OF JOY – Severely hampered shortly after the start. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn. At a subsequent inquiry, stewards were of the view that LOVE BATTLES shifted in marginally tightening runners to its inside and after FIVE STUD POKER which was racing to its outside had followed him over and taken up a tight position to its outside, App. J Graham was unable to relieve the pressure and therefore bumped heavily with the runners to his inside. Stewards could not apportion blame to any one rider, however, advised App. J Graham and Jockey J Mallyon to exercise greater care when shifting ground in future. ARROGANT BOY - Shortly after the start heavily bumped and became unbalanced and lost ground. EFFECTIVE ASSASSIN - Raced 3 wide throughout. HOORIYA - At the 1600m bumped by another runner. AHMAH STAR - At the 1600m steadied away from heels and shifted 3 wide. Allowed to stride forward to obtain clear running but unable to get in and remained 3 wide for the remainder of the event. HOT MONEY - Shifted out under pressure over the final 100m. MR MALU – When questioned regarding the tactics adopted, Jockey H Poland advised that it was her intention to have the horse settle in a mid-field position if possible, but after beginning well from the wide barrier and the lack of speed in the early stages, she allowed the gelding to strive forward to obtain a position outside the lead passing the 1500m. SIOSTRA – When questioned regarding the tactics adopted, Jockey J Mallyon advised that his instructions were to ride the filly back today from the wider barrier as Trainer Mr M Wilson stated that the filly has been racing on the speed and not finishing its races off. Jockey Mallyon further stated that after being ridden back in the field he elected to wait for runs as they presented themselves to ensure that the filly finished the race off. Trainer M Wilson will be interviewed regarding the tactics adopted.
