Cuneen failed to arrive on course on time stewards permitted L. Dittman to be substituted as the rider of DRAGONS ESPRIT. Stewards accepted jockey Cuneen’s explanation. Stewards considered an objection lodged by L. Cassidy the rider of GLYCINE MAX which finished fourth against WHOOSH (L. Rolls) being declared third on the grounds of alleged interference passing the 300m. After taking evidence from jockeys L. Cassidy and L. Rolls, trainer M. Eggleston and trainer A. Usher’s representative stewards were satisfied that GLYCINE MAX had established clear running to the inside of WHOOSH and when leaving the 300m was forced inwards after being bumped by WHOOSH, this resulted in GLYCINE MAX having to be checked from the heels of DRAGONS ESPRIT, which was weakening. Stewards were also satisfied that the interference suffered was sufficient to warrant a reversal of the ½ length margin and as such upheld the objection and declared correct weight on the numbers:- 1st CONQUERS ALL2nd ON A HIGH3rd GLYCINE MAX4th WHOOSHAt a subsequent inquiry stewards were satisfied that after initially shifting in jockey L. Rolls attempted to straighten his mount out and took no further action. OUR MOMENTO – Hung out from leaving the 600m until entering the home straight. COUNT CUMANI – Raced wide without cover throughout. GLYCINE MAX – Cast a near hind plate in running. Race 2: Village Roadshow Theme Parks QTIS 2YO Fillies Maiden Plate – 1200m KANUI – Jumped away awkwardly and lost ground. Held up rounding the home turn. TENOR LASS – Slow to begin. Had difficulty securing clear running in the home straight until the 200m. FUSSPOT – Slow to begin. SNAPCHAT GIRL – After passing the 1100m when obliged to race in restricted room had to be checked away from the heels of DEEP LEAD, which was taken out by REEF KNOT, which shifted out slightly. REEF KNOT – Shifted out slightly passing the 1100m inconveniencing other runners. Jockey A. Allen reported at scale that his mount hung out throughout and when hanging near the 900m shifted out inconveniencing other runners. GOLDEN SHEAF – Raced greenly and was buffeted between runners after passing the 1100m. Steadied when racing in restricted room near the 900m. Raced wide without cover throughout. A post race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be making an abnormal respiratory noise. Trainer D. Vandyke was advised that a veterinary certificate of fitness together with the results of an endoscopic examination must be provided prior to the filly racing again. KEEP YOUR ROSES – Steadied approaching the 1000m when racing in restricted room. Raced wide throughout. NICCENDI - Steadied approaching the 1000m when racing in restricted room. GO DAISY – Inconvenienced near the 900m. SUZY’S ROSE – Raced wide without cover throughout. MILLY MUNCHER – Raced wide without cover throughout. DEEP LEAD – Jockey D. Griffin reported that the filly felt awkward in its action over the concluding stages. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Race 3: Aquis Farm QTIS 2YO Colts & Geldings Maiden Plate – 1200m The start of the race was delayed whilst PORCINI had to have a near hind plate refitted. FUTURE EVENT – Slow to begin. CHARMING PRINCE – Slow to begin. SILENTUS – Slow to begin. GWAPO – After overracing had to be steadied when placed in restricted room near the 1000m. Jockey S. Doyle reported his mount hung out from the 600m until entering the home straight. TRAVERS – Hung out from the 1000m until entering the home straight. TROMMELSCHLAGEN – Forced wider rounding the home turn. NEVER IN DOUBT – Held up for clear running after passing the 300m. Then disappointed for a run and had to be checked near the 250m. Then obliged to alter course before obtaining clear running near the 150m. Race 4: Sky Racing Class 1 Plate – 1400m MEGHAPUSHPA – Trainer M. Leitch advised the horse would be ridden more forward today if circumstance permit. The horse was ridden accordingly. A post race veterinary examination confirmed that the mare was making an abnormal respiratory noise. Trainer M. Leitch was advised that a veterinary certificate of fitness together with the results of an endoscopic examination must be provided prior to the mare racing again. Ms Leitch advised that the mare would now be retired from racing in light of today’s performance. MIABLA – Slow to begin. TECHNO SAVVY – Raced 3 wide with no cover whilst pressing forward to a position outside the lead passing the 700m. ROCK ON DESTINY - Laid out under pressure near the 100m and was at a disadvantage shortly afterwards when jockey R. McMahon lost the use of his near side rein. MY COUSIN MELANIE – Trainer T. McCarthy indicated the horse will now be retired in light of today’s disappointing performance. Race 5: Trackside Tapas BenchMark 80 H’Cap – 1100m As App A. Sewell was indisposed due to transport difficulties and as no other apprentice was available stewards permitted L. Dittman to be substituted as the rider of HYDRAZINE. EKIBUUKA – Slow to begin. POWERFUL SAGA – Held up from the 400m until entering the home straight. On returning to scale jockey D. Griffin reported to stewards that the gelding travelled well throughout the event however, when asked to improve after being held up slightly on the home turn the gelding failed to sprint as expected and ran on only fairly in the home straight. KNIGHT TEMPLAR – Hung out for the majority. VIENNA ROYALE – App A. Fancourt indicated that the gelding did not stretch out from the 600m onwards. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be suffering from mild heat stress. Race 6: Sky Racing Class 2 H’Cap – 1800m COSGROVE – Trainer T. Edmonds advised the horse would be ridden more forward today if circumstance permit. The horse was ridden accordingly and settled outside the leader. When asked to comment on the performance jockey J. Lloyd indicated that the horse travelled strongly until leaving the 600m and was then under pressure and weakened badly in the home straight. A post race veterinary examination revealed that the colt had lost a near fore plate, which revealed some hoof damage, which may have had an affect on its performance. Mr Edmonds advised that he would now consider sending the horse for a spell. FASHION SAGA – Slow to begin. CONGELATOR – Slow to begin. Held up rounding the home turn. FAVULOUS FLOYD – Jockey A. Spinks reported that it was his intention to take up a forward position however, the gelding failed to show the necessary speed and therefore he elected to obtain a position midfield with cover. Jockey Spinks added that in his opinion the gelding raced flat and may have come to the end of its current preparation. Jockey Spinks further added that the stable had indicated that the gelding would now be sent for a spell. Race 7: Skyline Restaurant Class 3 H’Cap – 1200m T. Edmonds the trainer of FABVIER was reprimanded for failing to scratch a dual acceptor for a metropolitan meeting by the prescribed time. SKY HEART – Slow to begin. TYCOON TYKE – Slow to begin. Improved onto heels near the 600m and had to be steadied. PERRAN BEACH – Raced wide throughout. Jockey T. Harrison reported that the mare hung out during the event and returned to scale with its tongue over the bit. SKY HEART - When asked to comment on the performance jockey L. Dittman indicated that the gelding settled in the second half of the field as were his instructions however, when asked to improve into the race his mount laid out from the 600m and was disappointing in the straight. Jockey Dittman added that whilst the track surface may not have suited the gelding and it has performed over longer distances and he had expected a more forward showing. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. TURKANA – Jockey L. Tarrant reported his mount laid in for the majority of the event. Stewards questioned jockey L. Tarrant and trainer K. Jones regarding the tactics adopted as the gelding settled outside the lead in today’s event, which is in contrast to its most recent racing pattern. Jockey Tarrant indicated that after the horse’s most recent start he was of the view that the horse would appreciate being ridden in a more forward position and therefore rode his mount with vigour in the early stages. Mr Jones indicated that there were no specific instructions issued other than to have the horse travel comfortably. Stewards reminded Mr Jones of his obligations under AR134A and took no further action. Race 8: Sky Racing Class 4 H’Cap – 1400m Stewards accepted trainer W. Nugent’s explanation for the late notification of J. Orman as the rider of PRECIPITATE. WHO’S YOUR DADDY – Stood flatfooted as the start was effected and lost ground. BIANTIC – Slow to begin. MORE PATASI – Obliged to race in restricted room near the 1300m and had to be steadied and then raced 3 wide before weakening in the home straight. App T. Brooker stated that after attempting to have the horse settle in the early stages the gelding commenced to hang and did so for the remainder of the event placing her at a disadvantage and was eased out of the event in the home straight. Trainer K. Schweida was at a loss to explain the performance other than to add that the horse may have resented the tongue control bit. Mr Schweida also indicated that he would have his own vet examine the horse in the coming days and would report any findings to stewards. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. PRECIPITATE – Overraced approaching the first turn. LYRICIST – Overraced approaching the first turn. ROLLING ROMAN – After passing the 500m shifted out to improve and made heavy contact with another runner and as a result became awkward. LOTHARIO – Shifted wider rounding the home turn. Jockey J. Byrne reported that the gelding’s best performances have been on firmer racing surfaces. Jockey Byrne felt that the performance could be attributed to today’s Soft 6 track rating. BOURBON ROAD – Jockey R. Fradd reported to stewards that he had recommended to connections that the blinkers be removed from the horse’s gear as it overraced in today’s event.
