KICKSTART MY HEART When questioned as to the performance jockey R. Plumb noted that the gelding was up in distance today and in his opinion failed to run out todayys 1800m.. Trainer M. Costa stated that the gelding may not have been suited by the slow tempo in the middle stages after jockey Plumb allowed SIDETRIP to cross forward to the lead passing the 1000m.. Mr Costa noted that 2 starts ago the gelding had failed to run on strongly in a similar run race over 1400m. Mr Costa considered that the gelding may have been better suited remaining in the lead where it could have dictated terms and for this reason he was undecided if it was suited over similar distances to todayys event. > RACE 7: CURRUMBIN WILDLIFE SANCTUARY Class 5 HHCap 1300m STAR STILETTO Trainer H. Page advised horse to be ridden towards the rear of the field from the wide gate if circumstances permit.. The horse was ridden accordingly. Began awkwardly and lost ground. LUCKY LUCRE Began awkwardly and lost ground. MAGNAJOY Raced wide early before obtaining cover leaving the 700m.. When questioned regarding the tactics adopted jockey L. Rolls stated that he was given no specific instructions however, was hoping to obtain a handy position with cover.. Jockey Rolls added that after beginning on terms with the runners drawn to his inside he was concerned that if he elected to push forward he would be caught wide and thus restrained in an attempt to secure clear running, which resulted in him racing further back than originally anticipated. MORE THAN MONEY Stewards questioned App J. Woodhouse regarding his tactics rounding the home turn when ONE GOLDEN DAY, which was racing to his inside was able to shift out forward of him to secure clear running. App Woodhouse stated that his instructions were to obtain a midfield position with cover however, after beginning well he was content to settle in a handy position outside of ONE GOLDEN DAY.. App Woodhouse added that when the tempo increased passing the 500m he attempted to improve with ONE GOLDEN DAY but was unable to do so, which allowed that runner to shift out forward of him.. App Woodhouse indicated that he was also advised not to produce the gelding too early as it only sustains a short sprint.. Stewards advised App Woodhouse that he had erred in his riding leaving the 500m in that he ought to have placed the gelding under more pressure in an attempt to prevent ONE GOLDEN DAY from shifting out.. BOUND FOR LOVE When questioned as to the performance jockey D. McLellan stated that after beginning well he was obliged to pressure the mare throughout the race to hold its position.. Jockey McLellan added that passing the 800m he was unable to improve, despite his efforts, in an effort to prevent MAGNAJOY, which was racing 3 wide at that point shifting in forward of him.. Jockey McLellan further added that the mare was under pressure leaving the 500m and in his opinion proved disappointing.. Given the marees racing manners today jockey McLellan was of the view that it would be better suited over further distances.. Jockey McLellan indicated that the mare had travelled in a similar fashion in a trial leading into todayys event however, on that occasion finished the trial off well.. Trainer T. Edmonds stated that the mare generally races in a similar fashion as it had today and he was not disappointed with its finishing effort and indicated that it would be stepped up in distance next start.
