ALASSAK Began awkwardly.. A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities. When questioned as to the performance jockey M. Cahill stated that he was obliged to ride the gelding vigorously in the early stages to obtain a position outside of AGAPANTHA.. Jockey Cahill added that passing the 800m LANDMARKS and PALACE TYCOON improved to his outside, which resulted in the gelding being continually pressured during the middle stages.. Jockey Cahill was of the opinion that these factors had a detrimental affect on the geldinggs performance as it is better suited when able to lead and dictate terms.. Trainer D.. Murphy agreed with the comments of jockey Cahill.. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
LANDMARKS Leaving the 1100m had to be steadied from the heels of ALASSAK and shifted out and subsequently overraced wide without cover. Bumped near the 700m. Bumped on straightening.
CHOICE LARGA Near the 1000m had to be steadied when awkwardly placed at the heels of LANDMARKS.
PALACE TYCOON When questioned as to the tactics adopted jockey T. Harrison stated that she was instructed to obtain a forward position with cover but specifically not to restrain at the start as the gelding does not perform well when ridden in that manner.. Jockey Harrison added that after beginning fairly from a wide barrier she allowed the gelding to stride forward in an effort to comply with the instructions. However, passing the 1000m when LANDMARKS shifted out to a 3 wide position she elected to continue to ride forward in an effort to cross to the lead but was unable to do so and was obliged to race 4 wide without cover.. Stable representative L. Sears confirmed the instructions. Stewards advised jockey Harrison that after beginning only fairly and bearing in mind the early speed drawn inside her she should have attempted to obtain cover at the rear of the field. Furthermore passing the 1000m she should have made a greater effort to secure cover behind LANDMARKS.. Given the instructions that were issued stewards did not believe that jockey Harrisonns actions was culpable under the Rules of Racing.
LOTHARIO Leaving the 600m was bumped by DENARIUS. Bumped on straightening.
STAR OF NIGHT Upon straightening bumped LOTHARIO when attempting to shift out to obtain clear running.

Doyle if there was an opportunity to shift wider on the track leaving the 500m to secure clear running.. Jockey Doyle stated that he did not believe there was an opportunity for him to shift wider on the track at that point and that the best option was to follow GYPSY MISS into the race however, that runner failed to improve as expected, which resulted in him being held up until a point approaching the 100m.. After reviewing the patrol footage jockey Doyle conceded that after leaving the 500m he should have shifted to the outside of THERMAL UNIT however, once he elected to follow GYPSY MISS he improved to the inside of THERMAL UNIT following which he was unable to shift out.. Whilst advising jockey Doyle that he had erred in his riding leaving the 500m stewards did not believe his error was culpable under the Rules of Racing.
