QUEENSLAND RACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT AQUIS PARK – 9 DECEMBER 2017 WEATHER – FINETRACK RATING – GOOD 4; UPGRADED TO GOOD 3 AT MIDDAYRAIL – TRUE ENTIRE COURSEPENETROMETER – 4.6 OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – C AlbrechtStewards – P Zimmermann, G Lane, B ConnellClerk of Scales – J RobinsonJudge – S McMahonVeterinarian – A MurdochSwab attendants – K KilpatrickStarter – S Andrews, K WatsonStewards Secretary – L Stokes SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT From Gold Coast Official Trials 7th December 2017, Trial #7 LINLITHGOW – Bled both nostrils during the event. Trainer T Edmonds was advised that as this was the first occasion that the mare had bled, LINLITHGOW will now incur a 3 month ban from racing and will be required to gallop 1000m in the presence of a steward prior to racing again. From Rockhampton Jockey Club 28.11.17 - Race 7 Jockey C Whiteley (SOUND INVESTMENT) was fined the sum of $200 for excessive use of the whip in a forehand manner prior to the 100m. In determining penalty Stewards took into account Jockey Whiteley’s good record in relation to the whip rule. RACE 1: UD Trucks VCV Gold Coast QTIS 2yo Fillies Maiden Plate – 900m 1st: Holdin My Own 2nd: Victory Liner 3rd: Majikkutesa 4th: Juliannes Wish HOLDIN MY OWN - Began awkwardly and made contact with VICTORY LINER. VICTORIA LINER - Contacted at the start. Shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages. BRAVE JEWEL - Slow to begin. Shortly after the start had to be steadied to avoid the heels of HOLDIN MY OWN which shifted out. When questioned regarding the below market performance, Jockey R Wiggins stated that after being slow to begin and then receiving slight interference shortly after, the filly failed to show sufficient early speed and raced 3 wide. He added that the filly only finished the race off fairly. He noted that a step back in distance from its last start may not have been ideal and suggested to connections to experiment with blinkers. GREY FACTOR - Raced greenly throughout. RACE 2: Brisbane Isuzu QTIS 2yo C&G Maiden Plate – 900m 1st: Bold Aurora 2nd: Falvelino 3rd: Line Up Girls 4th: Sixty One Tigers Upon return to scale Stewards considered an objection lodged by Mr T Sears, trainer of the 2nd placegetter FALVELINO (N Tomizawa) against BOLD AURORA (Jockey G Geran) being declared the winner on the grounds of alleged interference near the 600m. After viewing the patrol films it was established that whilst BOLD AURORA did shift in applying some pressure to FALVELINO, it was also contributed by FALVELINO’s racing characteristics which was inclined to lay out. After considering this as well as the proximity at which the incident occurred and the margin at the finish, Stewards could not be comfortably satisfied that a reversal of the placings was warranted and therefore declared correct weight on the judge’s numbers. SIXTY ONE TIGERS - Slow into stride. TOY - After beginning awkwardly, shifted wider on the track despite the efforts of its rider. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. OKOCHI ARCHER - Shortly after the start clipped heels and blundered. LINE UP GIRLS - Shortly after the start tightened for room and had to be checked. SHADYVALE STAR - Shortly after the start placed in restricted room between runners and had to be eased. Near the 300m when racing greenly, had to be steadied away from the heels of FALVELINO which shifted out. FALVELINO - Near the 600m had to be steadied. Stewards inquired into an incident which resulted in OKOCHI ARCHER blundering and almost dislodging Jockey J Taylor. After taking evidence from the riders involved, it was established that FALVELINO which was racing keenly and had a tendency to lay out, shifted out tightening LINE UP GIRLS and SHADYVALE STAR to its outside. OKOCHI ARCHER which was racing to the outside of SHADYVALE STAR then received pressure from his outside when BOLD AURORA shifted in slightly making contact with OKOHI ARCHER resulting in that colt blundering. Stewards after considering the evidence were mindful of the pressure from the inside, however, reprimanded Jockey G Geran (BOLD AURORA) for shifting in at that point. RACE 3: Minibody Engineering Class 2 Handicap – 900m1st: Desirable Miss 2nd: Sharpamal 3rd: Turbo Bundy 4th: Baggio SHARPAMAL - Tightened for room at the start and lost ground. RACE 4: Komatsu Maiden Handicap – 1200m 1st: Hancock 2nd: Chasin 3rd: Lady Selkie 4th: Snow Sparkle The start was significantly delayed when ALL GIFTS reared and became cast in its barrier stall. ALPHA CENTAURI - Laid in under pressure for the majority of the home straight. SONIC QUILL - Stewards questioned Jockey L Rolls regarding his riding of the gelding in the early stages and as to whether there was an opportunity for him to hold a closer trailing position behind SNOW SPARKLE. Jockey Rolls explained that the gelding failed to hold a position behind SNOW SPARKLE despite his urges. He added that the gelding raced greenly throughout and was under pressure from the 600m and would appreciate a step-up in distance. Stewards noted his explanation. RACE 5: QGR Accountants F&M Class 1 Handicap – 1200m 1st: Friends 2nd: On A High 3rd: I Remember You 4th: Cloverleigh Lass FRIENDS - Rounding the home turn when endeavouring to obtain clear running behind the heels of the leader, shifted out and made contact with HIMALAYAN SALT. I REMEMBER YOU – Rounding the home turn when racing wide, was bumped by HIMALAYAN SALT which was forced out by FRIENDS. When questioned regarding the tactics adopted, App. M Shimodaira explained that his instructions were to obtain a midfield position if possible and after travelling a short distance he attempted to obtain cover behind HIMALAYAN SALT, however, ON A HIGH had improved and as a result he was obliged to race 3 wide without cover. He added that he attempted to stride forward to obtain a position outside the leader but again was unable to do so when HIMALAYAN SALT to his inside improved forward. Stewards noted his explanation. ON A HIGH – Commenced to shift in under pressure over the concluding stages resulting in its rider having to stop and straighten. RACE 6: Pacific Petroleum CG&E Class 1 Handicap – 1200m 1st: Super Shoes 2nd: Capo Di Tutti 3rd: Grinch 4th: Stellar Power CONQUERS ALL - Rounding the home turn had some difficulty obtaining clear running. Had to be steadied from the heels of SMART AS ATTACK which shifted out under pressure approaching the 200m. Trainer L Kelly reported that it is now his intention to send the colt for a spell. GRINCH –The trainer reported that the gelding lost both front shoes in running.
