SUPPLEMENTARY
 
From Doomben Meeting 30 December 2017 – Race 5
 
Trainer D. Weir pleaded guilty to a charge under AR175(r) for failing to present KNIGHTS WATCH by the required time, which was entered for Race 5. Mr Weir was subsequently fined $500. As a result KNIGHTS WATCH was declared a late scratching by order of stewards.
 
From Doomben Meeting 30 December 2017 – Race 8 Bernborough Handicap
 
Co-trainer A. Bott advised there was nothing amiss with CABEZA DE VACA following the event  and confirmed the gelding would now be sent for a spell.
 
 
GENERAL
 
As J. Orman was indisposed due to injury stewards permitted rider changes as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.
 
 
RACE 1: AQUISFARM.COM Class 3 Plate – 900m
 
RHYTHM OF LIGHT was declared a late scratching at 10.20 a.m. by order of stewards due to J. Orman being indisposed and no rider being available.
 
KNOTTED – Cast a near fore plate before entering the parade ring and once replated was vetted and cleared to race. Hampered at the start.
 
DASHING WIN – Jumped awkwardly and shifted out.
 
INVINCIBLE HEART – Hampered at the start.
 
MINI MELD – Began awkwardly and was restrained in the early stages to the rear of the field to gain a position closer to the rail.
 
LICITRA – Steadied when tightened for room shortly after the start.
 
INVINCIBLE STORM – Hung out rounding the home turn and in the early part of the home straight. Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.
 
JETS CRACKER – Inconvenienced near the 300m when taken wider.
 
CRUSHER – Inconvenienced near the 300m when taken wider. Raced 3 wide throughout.
 
 
RACE 2: FOLLOW@AQUISFARM ON TWITTER QTIS 2YO Handicap – 1100m
 
Trainer G. Moore was fined $200 for presenting PAQUIRRI late on course.
 
As B. Thornton failed to arrive on course by the prescribed time stewards permitted L. Rolls to be substituted as the rider of MAJIKKUTESA.
 
The start was delayed when MAJIKKUTESA proved difficult to load.
 
BOOM GIRL – Trainer C. Meagher advised the horse would be ridden further forward today. Bucked for some distance shortly after the start  and shifted out abruptly dislodging its rider B. Grylls. Following this incident jockey Grylls was examined by the QAS and cleared to fulfil her remaining engagements. A post race veterinary examination of the filly revealed to have sustained a laceration to the off fore pastern and multiple abrasions. The stable was advised that an official trial would be required prior to the filly racing again.  
 
SUGAR SIZZLE – Trainer A. Plumb advised the horse would be ridden further back today. The horse was ridden accordingly. Began awkwardly, shifted in abruptly and became unbalanced making contact with another runner. Overraced in the early stages.
 
MISHANI PHANTOM – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
SUNLIGHT – Bumped by another runner at the start.
 
DRAM OF DELAGO – Severely hampered at the start when bumped by SUGAR SIZZLE.
 
PAQUIRRI – Began awkwardly and was then restrained in the early stages. Leaving the 400m improved onto heels and had to be steadied.
 
MAJIKKUTESA – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.
RACE 3: Spill The Beans 1st Weanlings At The Sales In 2018 QTIS 3YO Handicap – 1800m
 
As L. Cassidy failed to arrive on course by the prescribed time stewards permitted J. Taylor to be substituted as the rider of WEEKEND SAGA.
 
NASHVILLE SKYLINE – Jumped very awkwardly. Overraced fiercely when the pace slowed during the middle stages.
 
PONYTALES – Jumped awkwardly, shifted in and bumped THE PINKERTON. Near the 1500m had to be steadied when tightened for room by ALL TOO HUIYING, which shifted in. Jockey M. Walker (ALL TOO HUIYING) was reprimanded for shifting in when insufficiently clear. Bumped by BOOM BOOM EPIC passing the 400m.
 
WEEKEND SAGA – Hampered shortly after the start when tightened for room by THE PINKERTON. Overraced in the early and middle stages and as a result shifted out and raced 3 wide without cover over the final 1200m. A post race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be slightly lame in the off hind leg. Trainer R. Heathcote was advised that a veterinary clearance will be required. Mr Heathcote indicated that the filly will now be sent for a spell.
 
LOOKS LIKE ELVIS – Steadied when tightened for room approaching the first turn near the 1500m.
 
MISHANI BULLITT – When the pace steadied passing the 1400m improved 3 wide and was allowed to stride forward to the lead approaching the 1000m.
 
BOOM BOOM EPIC – Unable to improve approaching the 400m, shifted out and bumped PONYTALES. Inclined to lay in when placed under pressure over the 250m. Jockey M. McGillivray dropped his whip over the final stages.
 
THE PINKERTON – Raced 3 wide throughout.
 
Following this event jockey M. Walker (ALL TOO HUIYING) was examined by the Club’s Doctor and subsequently stood down from his remaining engagements. Stewards permitted rider replacements as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.
 

RACE 4: Aquis Farm Racehorse Retirement Program BenchMark 80 Handicap – 2200m
 
MADAME DE BAN – Trainer M. Dunn advised it would be the intention to lead today. The horse settled in a handy position with cover.
 
FIRST STIMULUS – Stood flatfooted and lost significant ground. When questioned regarding the performance App T Brooker reported that the gelding commenced to hang out from the 800m and continued to do so quite badly for the remainder of the event. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the near hind leg. A veterinary clearance will be required.
 
EXPLOSIVE ONE – Slow to begin.
 
BACKBENCH BLUES – Raced 3 wide without cover before crossing to race outside the leader near the 900m. Upon return to scale jockey J. Lloyd reported that the gelding hung in throughout. A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities.
 
ANYMORE – Held up rounding the home turn.
 
MAGNATUNE – Held up rounding the home turn.
 
RULING DYNASTY – Held up rounding the home turn and in the early part of the home straight.
 
 
RACE 5: Follow @Aquisfarm On Facebook QTIS 3YO Handicap – 1200m
 
Trainer S. Morrisey was fined $200 for the late declaration of M. Walker as the rider of GO DIXIE.
 
KEEP YOUR ROSES – Kicked out in the horse stall area, vetted and cleared to race.
 
ZUKAZ – Slow to begin. Near the 900m had to be eased when placed in restricted room. Approaching the 800m had to be checked from the heels of SUSURRI after being brushed by COLOSIMO. At a subsequent inquiry stewards reprimanded jockey R. McMahon (SUSURRI) for shifting in when not sufficiently clear. Held up rounding home turn.
 
DREAM KISSES – Near the 900m had to be steadied when tightened by LUNA MISSILE, which shifted in. Jockey J. Byrne (LUNA MISSILE) was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances. Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.
 
BAT A KAT – Held up rounding the home turn. Leaving the 100m shifted out abruptly of its own accord.
 
COLOSIMO – Leaving the 100m was hampered when BAT A KAT shifted out.
 
SUSURRI –Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
 
RACE 6: Subscribe To Aquis Farm On Youtube.com Class 6 Plate – 1400m
 
PLUCKY GIRL – Jumped awkwardly and shifted in.
 
DOUBT DEFYING – Hampered at the start. Raced 3 wide throughout.
 
DRUMBEATS CHOICE – Slow to begin.
 
SYAMANTAKA MANI – Overraced badly in the early stages. Near the 1200m shifted in and made contact with the running rail.
 
PEGAPUS – Raced 3 wide throughout. Jockey R. Fradd reported that the horse overraced in the early and middle stages.
 
ANNE BONNY – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.
 
DELIGHTFUL FEELING – Near the 100m had to be eased when placed in restricted room between CRUZE and COURTZA KING, both of which shifted ground.
 
 
RACE 7: Aquisrace2win.com Syndication BenchMark 90 Handicap – 1800m
 
METEOROLOGIST – Slow to begin.
 
COURTS STAR – Raced wide in the early stages before being ridden to the lead near the 1300m.
 
COURAGEOUS ROCK – Raced wide in the early stages.
 
DANCE OF HEROES – Raced wide in the early stages.
 
AQUA VITE – Held up rounding the home turn and shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
MORENDI – Laid in under pressure upon straightening.
 
FELTRE – Shifted ground under pressure passing the 100m.
 
CANTBUYBETTER – App B. Thornton could offer no tangible explanation for the disappointing performance. Trainer B. Currie advised he was disappointed in the performance today and he will most likely send the gelding for a spell. A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities.  
 
Jockey A. Spinks (MORENDI) was fined $200 for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m (10 times).
 
Following the running of this event jockey J. Guthmann-Chester was examined by the Clubs Doctor and stood down from his remaining engagements and replaced as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.
 
 
RACE 8: Aquis Farm Pre-Training And Agistment Open Handicap – 1200m
 
The start of the race was delayed when BULLPIT became fractious in the barrriers, was  examined by the veterinary surgeon and declared a late scratching at 4.52 p.m. All monies invested on BULLPIT were ordered to be refunded. Deductions applicable to bets placed on winner and placegetters prior to 4.52 p.m.:-
 
5 cents in the dollar for the winner - #4 (MIGHTY LIKE)
7 cents in the dollar for place of winner - #4 (MIGHTY LIKE)
6 cents in the dollar for 2nd place - #13 (RAIDO)
5 cents in the dollar for 3rd place - #5 (ZUMBELINA)  
 
COUNTER MEAL – Trainer P. Butterworth advised the horse would be ridden further back from the wide gate. The horse was ridden accordingly. Raced 3 wide throughout.
 
SIEGFRIED – Overraced in the middle stages. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Raced 3 wide throughout.
 
ZUMBELINA – Held up approaching the home turn.
 
QUATRONIC – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be short striding in front.
 
 
RACE 9: Follow @Aquisfarm On Instagram NMW Handicap – 1200m
 
PATRONIZING – Slow to begin.
 
BAROQUE GIRL – Hampered when tightened for room soon after the start.
 
EMPEROR OF OZ – Near the 900m when overracing had to be restrained from the heels of JOBIWOOD.
 
MOTION GRANTED – Held up in the early stages of the home straight until a point leaving the 200m.
 
STAR STILETTO – Bumped by SNITZELS JOY upon straightening.
 
BOLD SHOT – Upon straightening was bumped by STAR STILETTO.
 
WORTHY HERO – Leaving the 300m had to be checked and lost ground when tightened for room between PATRONIZING and LIVE FAST, which was taken out by PRUES ANGEL. Raced 3 wide without cover throughout. A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities.
 
PRUES ANGEL – Held up between the 300m and 150m. Raced 3 wide throughout.
 
LIVE FAST – Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
Jockey J. Byrne the rider of PRUES ANGEL pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR137(a) in that he permitted his mount to shift out upon straightening when not clear of LIVE FAST, which was taken out onto WORTHY HERO, which when weakening became awkwardly placed at the heels of LIVE FAST. Jockey Byrnes licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of nine (9) days to commence midnight 14 January 2018 and to expire midnight 23 January 2018. When assessing penalty stewards noted that the carelessness exhibited by jockey Byrne was in the low range.
