QUEENSLAND RACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT AQUIS PARK – 10 MARCH 2018 WEATHER – OVERCAST TRACK RATING – HEAVY 8; DOWNGRADED TO HEAVY 9 AFTER RACE 6RAIL – TRUE ENTIRE COURSEPENETROMETER – 5.73 OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – I BrownStewards – P Zimmerman, G Lane, P ReardonClerk of Scales – J RobinsonJudge – S McMahonVeterinarian – C McCormackSwab attendants – C SpencerStarter – S Andrews, K WatsonStewards Secretary – L Stokes RACE 1: ECOLAB Maiden Plate – 1800m1st: Rival Mo 2nd: Instants Honour 3rd: Latino Lover 4th: Averna Mountain INSTANTS HONOUR - Began awkwardly and then steadied from the heels of NATURE TRAIN and in doing so Jockey Spinks lost the use of his off side iron for a short distance. Held up rounding the home turn. BRING EURO - Caught wide during the early stages and ridden forward to the lead near the 1400m. When questioned regarding the tactics adopted, Jockey G Colless stated that from the wide barrier he was instructed to press forward today. Jockey Colless added that due to a number of runners pushing forward to his inside, he was obliged to pressure the gelding more than he had initially anticipated in the early stages to obtain the lead. The gelding then travelled comfortably at a moderate tempo in the middle stages, however, failed to respond as expected when placed under pressure upon straightening. The only tangible explanation Jockey Colless was able to offer was that the gelding may not have appreciated today’s heavy track conditions. Stable foreman Mr P Shailer who was not present at today’s meeting will be interviewed at a later date. GOD SENT - Near the 1500m steadied to avoid the heels of NATURE TRAIN which shifted in. App. Z White (NATURE TRAIN) was severely reprimanded for shifting in when not sufficiently clear of GOD SENT. When asked to comment on the performance, Jockey A Allen stated that in his opinion the filly was not suited by the moderate tempo during the middle stages as it failed to quicken as expected when placed under pressure rounding the home turn. RACE 7: Reward Hospitality BenchMark 75 Handicap – 1300m1st: War Baby 2nd: Ellawisdom 3rd: Star Stiletto 4th: On Demand As Jockey N Day was indisposed due to personal reasons, he was replaced on RAMATUELLE by Jockey B Grylls. Trainer P Campbell requested that RAMATUELLE be declared a late scratching due to the prevailing track conditions. Ms Campbell stated that the mare performed poorly on heavy tracks and was hopeful of an upgrade to a soft track bearing in mind the favourable weather conditions this morning. Given the constant showers throughout the meeting, Stewards approved the late scratching at 2.40pm. After inspecting the lead bag used by App. Murphy in this race, Stewards identified that the lead bag had split resulting in a kilogram of lead falling out of the lead bag at some point during the event. After reviewing the patrol footage Stewards were comfortably satisfied that BARRAAJ had failed to carry its allotted weight and in accordance with AR143(a) disqualified the gelding from its 5th placing.
