DUELLATOR – When questioned regarding the improved performance trainer B. Dais explained that the gelding had at its previous start drawn wide and in an attempt to obtain cover had to go further back than they would have liked and in a slowly run race made it very hard for the gelding to make up the ground over the concluding stages. Mr Dais was of the view that the run was better than it looked and today being in a 900m race he felt the speed would be on and the gelding drew a better barrier, which aided the gelding to be in a better position. Mr Dais added that the gelding handles the heavy track conditions and he gave it a reasonable chance of winning today. Stewards noted his explanation.
