SIR ROTHEWAY – Approaching the 1300m was steadied from heels and due to the slow tempo jockey R. Plumb elected to shift three wide to improve and obtain the lead near the 1100m. Shifted out over the concluding stages. Jockey Plumb was dislodged upon pulling up after the race.

LATINO LOVER – Leaving the 200m was obliged to alter course to the inside of SIR ROTHEWAY when that runner shifted out.

ROCK WITH PASSION – Raced wide without cover for the majority.

BELLAS SHADOW – Suffered a bleeding attack during the event. Trainer D. Scanes was advised that the mare would incur a mandatory three month ban from racing and must gallop 1000m to the satisfaction of stewards prior to racing again.

RACE 2: LION FOOD SERVICES Maiden Handicap – 1300m

SO YOU WISH – Trainer B. Laming advised the horse would be ridden in a handy position with cover today if circumstances permit. Fractious in the barriers. After beginning awkwardly settled worse than midfield with cover. Held up rounding the home turn.

GWAPO – Upon straightening was disappointed for a run to the inside of CAMBRIDGE DON and was obliged to shift out to secure clear running.

DIXYVILLE – Near the 1000m was steadied from heels.

WARFACE – Near the 100m shifted in and had to be steadied from the heels of DYNASTIC. When questioned regarding the tactics adopted App C. Gallagher stated he had been specifically instructed to press forward in the early stages in an effort to obtain the lead. Furthermore, if able to lead and obtain cheap sectionals then increase the tempo leaving the 600m. App Gallagher added he was unable to cross DYNASTIC in the early stages, which resulted in him racing to the outside and forward of that runner in the early and middle stages of the event. He further added that leaving the 600m the gelding failed to respond to his riding as expected and then displayed a tendency to hang in in the home straight. Trainer L. Kelly confirmed the instructions.

LULU EXPRESS – Jockey G. Colless reported that the filly raced flat today and in his opinion did not appreciate the heavy track conditions.

DYNASTIC – When questioned regarding the tactics adopted jockey D. Griffin stated that it was not his intention to lead today but after pressing forward in an effort to cross runners drawn to his inside the gelding commenced to overrace and refused to settle despite his best efforts.

Jockey D. Griffin (DYNASTIC) was reprimanded for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m. In determining penalty stewards were mindful that this was jockey Griffins second race meeting after a lengthy lay off due to injury.

RACE 6: GCTC RACING @ BEAUDESERT 7 APRIL Class 1 Handicap – 1400m

TEN TAUBADAS – Jockey C. Taylor reported that his instructions were to take up a handy position with cover today and that as a consequence he allowed KOOKIECUTTER to cross forward to the lead leaving the 900m. Jockey Taylor added that being first up today connections were reluctant to lead in todays race.

ZAP – When questioned as to the performance jockey N. Thomas stated that the gelding was slow to begin and then slow to muster speed in the early stages. Jockey Thomas noted that the gelding had displayed a similar tendency in the early stages of its most recent start at Doomben. Jockey Thomas added that the gelding then travelled comfortably during the middle stages but was disappointed in its failure to finish the race off as expected after obtaining clear running to the outside of the small field upon straightening. Trainer S. Kendrick indicated that the gelding may trial prior to its next race start bearing in mind its tendency to lose ground at the start. Otherwise Mr Kendrick felt the gelding may be better suited over a further distance and combined with the heavy track contributed to the disappointing performance. A routine swab sample was taken. A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities.
