GENERAL
 
As P. Hammersley was indisposed due to illness stewards permitted rider replacements as per the Stewards Race Day Summary. Jockey Hammersley will require a medical clearance prior to racing again.
 
 
RACE 1: Attwood Marshall BenchMark 75 Handicap – 1800m
 
MELTED MOMENTS – Overraced badly in the early stages and as a result was obliged to race three wide without cover throughout.
 
CAPETOWN HUSSEY – Raced three wide in the early stages before being ridden forward to cross outside the leader near the 1300m.
 
WAR BABY – Raced wide throughout.
 
SHIELD WALL – Raced wide throughout.
 
RULING DYNASTY – Shifted an off hind plate in running.
 
CONGELATOR – Lost an off fore plate in running.
 
DOUBLE SUPERLATIVE – When questioned regarding the performance jockey J. Orman explained he was of the view that the gelding had not backed up from racing on 27 April 2018.
 
ESTIKHRAAJ - Jockey G. Colless was fined $200 for failing to ride his mount out to the end of the race. In determining penalty stewards were not fully satisfied that his actions had cost ESTIKHRAAJ second place.
 
DENBERN – Jockey R. Wiggins was fined $300 for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m. Stewards were mindful of jockey Wiggins recent good record.
 
 
RACE 2: David Russo Fresh Vegetables Sydney Markets BenchMark 85 Handicap – 1200m
 
MISS IANO – Slow to begin.
 
SONY LEGEND – Near the 900m was bumped by MISS IANO and taken outwards. Rounding the home turn was again bumped by MISS IANO on a number of occasions when taken wider by that runner, which had shifted out to improve.
 
TYZONE – Near the 800m was steadied from heels. When questioned regarding the improved performance today as compared to its most recent start trainer T. Edmonds explained that the gelding was having its first start for his stable today and had trialled well recently and he was confident of a forward showing. Mr Edmonds added that TYZONE may not have been suited to the heavy track conditions at its most recent start.
 
WILD N FAMOUS – Near the 600m was steadied from heels. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have sustained a laceration to the near fore knee, which was treated by the oncourse veterinary surgeon.
 
TAILLEVENT – Overraced in the middle stages.
 
MY LITTLE FLICKA – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
GRUNDERZEIT – Raced three wide throughout.
 
MR MARBELLOUZ – When questioned regarding the disappointing performance App J. Guthmann-Chester explained that the gelding never travelled comfortably throughout and in his view had come to the end of its preparation. Trainer K. Kemp agreed with the comments of App Guthmann-Chester and indicated the gelding would be sent for an immediate spell. Mr Kemp undertook to report to stewards should any abnormalities be detected subsequent to the event that may explain the disappointing performance. A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings and a routine swab sample was taken.
 
 
RACE 3: Hawkes Racing Class 6 Plate – 1400m
 
Trainer N. Saunders was fined $100 for the late declaration of App J. Guthmann-Chester as the rider of GENERAL COS.
 
FORTENSKY – Trainer C. Waller advised the horse would be ridden in a handy position with cover if circumstances permitted. After being fractious in the barriers began only fairly and was forced to settle further back in the field than anticipated. Raced wide throughout. Stableforeman P. Shailer advised that the gelding would be sent for an immediate spell.
 
EL CAMPEADOR – Slow to begin. Held up rounding the home turn.
 
SHEZA LILY – Slow to begin. Held up rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight.
 
FIT FOR PURPOSE – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout.
 
SABKHAT – Began awkwardly and bumped another runner. Leaving the 1100m had to be steadied from heels. Near the 700m had to be restrained from heels when overracing. Held up rounding the home turn. Lost an off hind plate in running.
 
GENERAL COS – Bumped by another runner at the start and lost ground.
 
ZAMEX –Leaving the 1100m had to be steadied from heels then overraced for some distance thereafter. Raced three wide throughout. Lost a near hind plate in running.
 
REAL EGO – Raced three wide without cover throughout. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have been galloped on both hind legs.
 
KINCAPLE CHIEF – Lost an off hind plate in running.
 
MOTION GRANTED – A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have bled during the event. Trainer B. Baldwin was advised that the gelding would now incur a mandatory three month ban from racing and it must compete satisfactorily in a 1000m gallop prior to racing again.
 
 
RACE 4: XXXX Gold Coast Cup (Listed) – 1400m
 
NOZOMI – Slow to begin.
 
LAUTERBRUNNEN – Hampered at the start when tightened for room.
 
MOHER – Overraced in the early and middle stages. Leaving the 100m was placed in restricted room and inconvenienced.
 
SNIPPETS LAND – Unable to secure clear running for the majority of the home straight and as a result went to the line not fully tested by its rider.
 
 
RACE 5: Moreton Hire Ken Russell Memorial Classic – 1200m
 
DRAM OF DELAGO – Trainer M. Dunn advised the horse would be ridden forward today if circumstances permitted. Jumped awkwardly, shifted out and bumped another runner. After being beaten for speed in the early stages took up a midfield position with cover. Had some difficulty securing clear running in the early part of the home straight.
 
ARCHADE – Jumped away awkwardly. Raced three wide without cover throughout. Lost the near fore plate in running.
 
REVEL – Slow to begin.
 
SESAR – Hampered at the start when bumped by another runner.
 
DREAMING OF BISCAY – Buffeted between runners at the start. Approaching the 900m had to be steadied from heels. Hung out rounding the home turn and proved difficult to ride.
 
PONY POWER – Near the 700m when racing greenly shifted in abruptly. Jockey J. Orman reported that the filly raced greenly throughout and failed to travel comfortably at any stage.
 
LEAN MEAN MACHINE – Rounding the home turn was taken wider on the track by DREAMING OF BISCAY, which hung out. Raced wide throughout.
 
BLUE BOOK – Held up rounding home turn. Bumped leaving the 200m.
 
ZOOM BY – Bumped leaving the 200m.
 
 
RACE 6: Gold Coast Harley-Davidson Bat Out Of Hell – 900m
 
HARD STRIDE – Knuckled at the start and lost ground. Raced wide in the early stages.
 
GUARD OF HONOUR – Slow to begin.
 
PROMPT RETURN – Slow to begin.
 
KHALAMA – Slow to begin.
 
LATIN BOY – Near the 700m was eased when awkwardly placed at the heels of SNOOPY. Held up rounding the home turn.
 
DESTIVA – Hung out rounding the home turn. Inconvenienced leaving the 100m as a consequence of interference to the outside.
 
YARRAPOWER – Unable to secure clear running in the early part of the home straight. Near the 100m was heavily bumped on the hind quarters by RINGOS A ROCKSTAR after that runner was checked.
 
LA DOLCE VITA – Approaching the 200m when weakening was hampered when tightened for room between RINGOS A ROCKSTAR and YARRAPOWER, which shifted out. App Guthmann-Chester (YARRAPOWER) was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances. Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
RINGOS A ROCKSTAR – Had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early stages of the home straight. Near the 200m was eased when placed in restricted room to the inside LUCY ROSE, when that runner shifted in marginally.
 
BEAU RADA - Inconvenienced leaving the 100m as a consequence of interference to the outside.
 
TIYATROLANI – Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
LUCY ROSE – Raced wide throughout.
 
Jockey C. Brown (SNOOPY) was fined $200 for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m.
 
 
RACE 7: Brandons Gold Coast Guineas (Group 3) – 1200m
 
CHAMPAGNE CUDDLES – Trainer B. Baker advised that the filly had undergone a left fetlock arthroscopic following its last start at Randwick on 30 September 2017. Public announcements were made to this effect.
 
OURS TO KEEP – Blundered at the start.
 
SMART AS ATTACK – Hampered at the start when tightened for room.
 
SETOGA – Slow to begin.        
 
MEIKAS – After being crossed by WHYPEEO leaving the 900m overraced during the middle stages.
 
ABSOLUTLYPOSITIVLY – Hung in under pressure in the home straight. Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
 
RACE 8: Attwood Marshal A.D. Hollindale Stakes (Group 2) – 1800m
 
SATONO RASEN – Trainer C. Waller  advised the horse would be ridden closer to the speed from the more favourable barrier today if circumstances permitted. Settled midfield with cover. Held up rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight. Over the concluding stages had difficulty obtaining clear running to the outside of TOM MELBOURNE.
 
MONTOYAS SECRET – Made contact with the rail when leaving the enclosure, was examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to start. Raced wide throughout.
 
BEDFORD – Slow to begin.
 
VIOLATE – Slow to begin. Shifted in and made contact with the running rail approaching and passing the 1000m.
 
ONE FOOT IN HEAVEN – Slow to begin.
 
COMIN THROUGH – Overraced in the early stages when being restrained in an effort to obtain a position with cover and was unable to do so and was obliged to race three wide throughout.
 
ITS SOMEWHAT – Raced three wide in the early and middle stages before being ridden forward to cross to the position outside the leader near the 900m.
 
EGG TART – Held up in the early stages of the home straight.
 
MAN OF HIS WORD – Laid in during the early stages of the home straight and leaving the 300m had to be steadied from the heels of ITS SOMEWHAT.
 
 
RACE 9: UBET Silk Stocking (Listed) – 1200m
 
MODERN WONDER - Trainer L. Corstens advised that blood tests conducted after the mare arrived in Queensland earlier this week were unsatisfactory. Stewards permitted further tests to be conducted yesterday the results of which were satisfactory. Public announcements were made to the effect. Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
BRED FOR LUCK – Slow to begin. Leaving the 100m was obliged to alter course to the outside of POMELO to obtain clear running.
 
CRYSTAL FOUNTAIN – Began awkwardly. Upon straightening became unbalanced after being bumped by SMART AMELIA, which was taken out by NOTONYOURLIFE. Jockey B. Stewart (NOTONYOURLIFE) was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
 
KIMBERLEY STAR – Had to be steadied and taken wider near the 800m.
 
CELLARGIRL – Approaching the 600m had to be steadied from heels and then shifted out. Inconvenienced upon straightening.
 
NOTONYOURLIFE – Leaving the 700m had to be steadied from heels. Held up rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight.
 
OF THE DAY – Overraced in the middle stages and near the 600m had to be steadied from heels. Held up rounding the home turn. Inconvenienced upon straightening and again leaving the 100m.
 
SMART AMELIA – Approaching the 600m had to be steadied from heels. Bumped leaving the 100m.
 
SYLPHEED – Shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
CRYSTAL FOUNTAIN – Raced wide throughout.
 
TEST THE WORLD – Raced three wide in the early stages.
 
OUR BEEBEE – Upon return to scale jockey M. McGillivray reported that the mare took a step back as the start was effected and as a consequence was slow to begin.
