F&M Maiden Handicap – 1300m1st: Ivys Dream 2nd: Portuguese Tart 3rd: On Show 4th: Going to Vegas Stewards accepted the explanation for the late declaration of Jockey A Spinks as the rider of DIVINE ACTION. ETHANOL GIRL - Proved difficult to load. Near the 800m inconvenienced when taken wider on the track. PORTUGUESE TART – Slow to begin. Approaching the 800m improved onto the heels of IVYS DREAM and had to be steadied. VAN GRAAS – Slow to begin. Approaching the 800m had to be checked from the heels of DIVINE ACTION after that horse blundered and then shifted out and bumped ETHANOL GIRL. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. GOING TO VEGAS – Began awkwardly. DIVINE ACTION - Leaving the 900m commenced to over-race. Approaching the 800m shifted out and bumped GOING TO VEGAS after which DIVINE ACTION clipped the heels of PORTUGUESE TART, blundered badly and lost significant ground. App. B Nothdurft (IVYS DREAM) was reprimanded for the rate at which he slackened the speed after obtaining the lead. In determining penalty, Stewards were of the opinion that the racing manners of DIVINE ACTION contributed to the interference it suffered. Hung in under pressure in the home straight. Trainer B Gorman reported that the mare sustained lacerations to the off-side fetlock. ON SHOW - After leaving the 900m raced 3 wide without cover for the remainder of the event. IVYS DREAM – Stewards questioned Trainer J Wallace as to the improved performance from its last start. Mr Wallace noted the filly was only having its second start for the stable and at its first start at Murwillumbah on 3 June 2018, had begun awkwardly and lost significant ground at the start. Mr Wallace noted that following that performance he added blinkers, tongue-tie, ear- muffs and barrier blanket to the fillys gear and combined with a good performance in a recent trial he was confident of a forward showing today. RACE 2: Membership Renewals Now C,G&E Maiden Handicap - 1300m 1st: Wallander 2nd: Buxton 3rd: Queachy 4th: Zabring DEBONAIR DES underwent a veterinary examination at the request of its trainer after arriving on course. The gelding was subsequently declared a late scratching at 11am. MY BLUE THUNDER - Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped AMERICAN ENEMY. Over-raced during the early stages. Leaving the 300m had to be steadied when hampered by ZABRING which hung in. Following the race got its near hind leg cast in the tie-up stalls. A subsequent veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in that leg. Trainer T Cotsiopoulos will be advised that a veterinary clearance must be produced prior to its next start. AMERICAN ENEMY – Hampered at the start when bumped by MY BLUE THUNDER and was taken out on to WALLANDER. WALLANDER - Shortly after the start was bumped by another runner and became unbalanced. YEAH THE BOYS - Raced wide without cover throughout. NEW DEAL - Over-raced for some distance after passing the 1000m when placed in restricted room to the inside of YEAH THE BOYS. BUXTON - Obliged to race wide over the final 800m. TUTOKANULA – Leaving the 300m was severely checked when tightened for room by MY BLUE THUNDER which was taken in by ZABRING. At a subsequent inquiry it was established that the racing manners of ZABRING which hung in throughout, contributed to the interference. ZABRING – Trainer K Schweida will be advised that ZABRING which hung in throughout, must trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to racing again. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have a laceration to the offside of the geldings mouth. RACE 3: Langs Building Supplies QTIS 3YO Maiden Handicap – 1200m1st: River Flyer 2nd: Lolas Diamond 3rd: Epic Piper 4th: Fish On As Jockey A Spinks was injured, he was replaced on EPIC PIPER by Jockey B Looker. HI MY GIRL - Began awkwardly. LOLAS DIAMOND – Slow to begin. DANCING ON PARADE - Began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped RIVER FLYER. Near the 1000m eased when tightened for room by PLATINUM HAWK (App. J Murphy) which shifted in. App. Murphy was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances. RIVER FLYER - Bumped at the start. MISHANI WICKED - Blundered on jumping away. Raced wide without cover throughout. OSMOSIS - Leaving the 1000m had to be steadied from the heels of DANCING ON PARADE. Held up rounding the home turn. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages. EPIC PIPER - Held up rounding the home turn and during the early stages of the home straight. PLATINUM HAWK – App. J Murphy reported that the gelding was disappointing in its effort after failing to respond when placed under pressure upon straightening. App. Murphy added that the gelding did not feel entirely comfortable in its action. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. RACE 4: Dindas Australia Class 4 Handicap – 1100m 1st: In Times Of War 2nd: Absolutlypositivly 3rd: On The Spot 4th: Dansu EARLSTOUN RULER - Fractious in the barriers. Began awkwardly. Leaving the 900m checked to avoid the heels of ROB ROY and shifted in. ROB ROY - Began awkwardly. Over-raced during the middle stages. PERDU - Slow to begin. MR STRACHAN - Raced wide without cover throughout. DANSU – App. NothdurftHad difficulty pulling the whip through to his right hand between the 300m and 200m. Stewards questioned trainer S Lee as to why the gelding was late arriving on course. Mr Lee explained that a staff member had taken ill this morning leaving him short staffed as he had other runners in the stables in races 1 and 2 today. Stewards accepted the explanation. Notwithstanding, Mr Lee was reminded of his obligations under the Rules. The gelding was examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to start. A pre-race blood sample was taken. Jockey C Small (ROB ROY) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) in that leaving the 900m he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of EARLSTOUN RULER which had to be checked to avoid the heels of that runner. Jockey Small was suspended from riding in races for a period of 8 days to commence midnight 18 June 2018 and to expire midnight 26 June 2018. Jockey B Looker (EARLSTOUN RULER) pleaded guilty to a charge under AR175(q) for using foul language and excessively correcting the gelding in the barriers prior to the start which in the opinion of Stewards constituted misconduct. Jockey Looker was fined the sum of $200.RACE 5: AWS Architectural Window Systems Class 2 Handicap – 1400m 1st: Only Choice 2nd: Roses of Joy 3rd: Vivid Pink 4th: Solarcraft After being loaded into the barriers SNIPSTREAM lunged forward in an attempt to break through the front barriers and became cast. Following a veterinary examination the gelding was declared a late scratching at 1.34pm. FUSI FOX which was beside SNIPSTREAM also underwent a veterinary examination and was cleared to start. All monies invested on SNIPSTREAM were ordered to be refunded. Deductions applicable to bets placed on winner and place-getters prior to 1.34pm:- 37 cents in the dollar for the Win #326 cents in the dollar for the place of winner #327 cents in the dollar the 2nd place #527 cents in the dollar for the 3rd place #10 SPs are subject. Trainer M Costa was advised that SNIPSTREAM must trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to starting again. SOLARCRAFT – Began awkwardly and lost ground. SWISS LOVE - Slow to begin. Upon straightening, shifted out to improve and bumped TAKARAKKA. BADGE OF GAMENESS - Began awkwardly. Shifted in under pressure passing the 100m resulting in Jockey B Looker having to stop riding and straighten the gelding to prevent interference to the runner inside of him. FUSI FOX - Over-raced during the early and middle stages. SIP SIP SIP - Raced wide without cover during the early stages before settling outside the leader leaving the 900m. VIVID PINK - Raced wide during the early stages and approaching the 900m improved onto the heels of SIP SIP SIP, shifted out and then raced wide without cover for the remainder of the event. Near the 200m bumped by BADGE OF GAMENESS and leaving the 100m momentarily eased when placed in restricted room. TAKARAKKA - Bumped upon straightening. THE SHEEPISH LION – When questioned regarding the tactics adopted, Jockey Rolls stated that due to the awkward barrier and the anticipated early speed in the race his instructions were to settle in the second half of the field. Trainer K Doughty was reminded of her obligations to advise stewards of any intention to vary the tactics. Stewards reprimanded Trainer K Doughty for presenting the gelding 3 minutes late on course. RACE 6: Mitek Australia Class 2 Handicap – 1400m 1st: El Shaday 2nd: Clever Blaze 3rd: Whodunnit 4th: Red Deck CLEVER BLAZE - Slow to begin. WOODDITTON - Bumped at the start. Passing the 1200m inconvenienced by EVES JET which shifted out. Held up between the 400m and 200m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. EVES JET - Bumped at the start. WHODUNNIT - Near the 1200m steadied from the heels of WOODDITTON. COULTHARD - Raced wide without cover throughout. Upon straightening became awkward for a short distance when placed in restricted room between EVES JET and WHODUNNIT. DIVISIONAL - Held up between the 400 and 200m. KULABA – App. B Nothdurft reported that the gelding hung out for the majority of the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. RACE 7: Langs Building Supplies BenchMark 70 Handicap – 1800m 1st: Anzio 2nd: Dazzle Us Again 3rd: Lady No More 4th: Jack Strikes Back DAZZLE US AGAIN - Began awkwardly and after bumping JACK STRIKES BACK shifted out and bumped WALK TO THE BAR. JACK STRIKES BACK - Bumped at the start. WALK TO THE BAR - Shortly after the start was bumped by DAZZLE US AGAIN and taken outwards and in doing so made contact with LADY NO MORE. Held up over the concluding stages. LADY NO MORE - Hampered shortly after the start when buffeted between runners. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Jockey S Doyle was reminded of his obligations regarding his use of the whip prior to the 100m. DUSTMAN - Inconvenienced shortly after the start after being bumped by LADY NO MORE. ANZIO - Over-raced during the early stages. THINK LIKE A BIRD - When questioned as to the performance, Jockey C Whiteley stated that despite having a comfortable run throughout, the mare failed to finish off the race as expected and in his opinion failed to run out a strong 1800m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a mucus discharge from both nostrils. Stewards will follow up on the mare’s recovery with Trainer B Guy. A routine swab sample was taken. App. B Nothdurft (BRONZEGATE) was reprimanded for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m. App. J Murphy (DAZZLE US AGAIN) was fined $100 for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m. Jockey C Whiteley (THINK LIKE A BIRD) was reprimanded for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m. RACE 8: Hyne Timber Open Handicap – 1200m 1st: Kievann 2nd: Red Letter Day 3rd: Primal Flight 4th: Desmons Pride DESMOS PRIDE - Shortly after the start, eased when tightened for room. POWERFUL SAGA – Held up for clear running for the majority of the home straight. TYCOON ACE – When questioned regarding the performance, Jockey N Tomizawa noted that the gelding over-raced during the middle stages and when PRIMAL FLIGHT improved to his outside passing the 500m the gelding was inclined to lay in and away from that runner. He added that it did not feel comfortable in its action when placed under pressure in the home straight. He further added that his instructions were to lead as the gelding performs best when able to lead comfortably and dictate terms. Trainer T Sears will be questioned at a later date. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. QUATRONIC - When questioned regarding the performance App. C Gallagher expressed his disappointment, however was unable to offer any tangible explanation. Trainer M Dunn was also at a loss to explain the performance and undertook to review the geldings current racing preparation. RACE 9: Humes Doors and Timber Class 1 Plate – 1200m 1st: The Party Girl 2nd: Springtime Love 3rd: Timperley 4th: Real Elusive REGNANT was fractious in the enclosure and again after leaving the enclosure resulting in Jockey R Palmer being dislodged on two occasions. The mare then refused to proceed to the barriers and was subsequently declared a late scratching at 4.11pm. All monies invested on REGNANT were ordered to be refunded. Deductions applicable to bets placed on winner and place-getters prior to 4.11pm:- 5 cents in the dollar for the Win #125 cents in the dollar for the place of winner #124 cents in the dollar the 2nd place #96 cents in the dollar for the 3rd place #7 SPs are subject to deduction. Trainer J Smerdon will be advised that the mare must trial to the satisfaction of Stewards before racing again. YOUNG AMAZON – Jockey R Plumb was dislodged during the preliminary. Began awkwardly. Hung out rounding the home turn and continued to do so in the home straight. SHEZ A ROCKINTOFF - Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped SPRINGTIME LOVE. Held up over the concluding stages. SPRINGTIME LOVE –Bumped at the start. Shifted out abruptly of its own accord after passing the winning post resulting in Jockey L Dittman being dislodged. Jockey Dittman was cleared of any injuries, however, he was transported to Pindara Hospital for precautionary scans. Co-trainer B Rodgers was advised that the mare must complete an official trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to starting again. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities. TEYSSIER – Hampered at the start. TIMPERLEY - Began awkwardly and bumped MELANYA. MELANYA - Bumped at the start. THE PARTY GIRL - Began awkwardly and a short distance later, hampered. Held up rounding the home turn and again upon straightening. SERVEUR - Slow to begin. KOSCIUSZKO EXPRESS - Raced wide without cover throughout. Passing the 300m was eased when awkwardly placed at the heels of YOUNG AMAZON which shifted out marginally. REAL ELUSIVE – Held up upon straightening until a point approaching the 200m.
