SOLO MELODY – Raced wide without cover throughout. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages. When questioned as to the seemingly improved performance, Trainer L Kelly stated that the filly was down in class from its last start at Ipswich on 16 June 2018. Mr Kelly was pleased with the fillys performance on that date noting that it was only beaten 5.8 lengths after starting from a wide barrier. Mr Kelly was also pleased with the fillys previous start and noted that its only disappointing performance this campaign, in his opinion, was when first up from a spell at the Gold Coast on 9 May 2018 on a heavy track. His explanation was noted.

DAISYS APART - Slow to begin. Hung out rounding the home turn and raced greenly throughout. App. C Gallagher was reminded of his obligations to ride his mounts right out to the end of the race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings. Following the race Trainer L Hatch, who was not present at todays meeting, notified stewards that the filly had raced in blinkers which were not part of its advertised racing gear. Stewards will make further enquiries to identify how this error occurred.

GEM OF THE LOCHS – Near the 700m inconvenienced by another runner. Returned to the enclosure with blood in the off side nostril. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the presence of blood to be the result of external trauma which may have occurred in the barriers.
