Following his ride in Race 5 App B. Nothdurft was stood down due to illness and replaced as per the Stewards Raceday Summary
 
 
RACE 1: ON POINT LOCATING COMING TO THE GC QTIS 3YO Maiden Plate – 1800m
 
KENDALLS DREAM – Jockey R.  Palmer reported that the filly displaced its soft palate during the event. Trainer H. Norman was advised that a veterinary clearance will be required prior to the filly’s next start.
 
 
RACE 2: PURCHASE GCTC TICKETS ONLINE & SAVE! Fillies & Mares Maiden Handicap – 1100m
 
PATS GIRL – Slow to begin.
 
ARENKHA – Bumped at the start.
 
RED FACETS – Bumped at the start.
 
EFFEROUS – Began awkwardly. Leaving the 500m hampered by ARENKHA, which shifted out to improve. Near the 200m hampered by SATISFIED, which shifted out.
 
KARMAKAZE – Began awkwardly. Near the 1000m checked to avoid the heels of SONA DANCER, which shifted in. Then raced wide in the early stages before commencing to overrace approaching the 800m when restrained to obtain cover. App C. Gallagher (SONA DANCER) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) in that near the 1000m he directed his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of KARMAKAZE, which had to be checked to avoid the heels of SONA DANCER. App Gallaghers licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of nine (9) days to commence midnight 1 July 2018 and expire midnight 10 July 2018.
 
SATISFIED – Near the 1000m eased when placed in restricted room. App A. Fancourt reported the intention was to take up a forward position however, the filly failed to muster speed in the early stages and was obliged to settle further back than anticipated.
 
 
RACE 3: MEMBERSHIP RENEWALS NOW Colts, Geldings & Entires Maiden Handicap – 1100m
 
RED BALTER – Began awkwardly.
 
LUCKSBURY – Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped REPATRIATE. Upon return to scale jockey A. Spinks reported that leaving the 900m the gelding commenced to overrace, then hung out making the first turn and then continued to hang out rounding the home turn. Jockey Spinks stated that as he was concerned with the geldings racing manners he was reluctant to place it under pressure in the home straight. After viewing the patrol footage trainer M. Brosnan conceded that the geldings racing manners during the early and middle stages had placed its rider at a disadvantage and indicated that the owner would now retire the gelding following todays performance. Ms Brosnan was nonetheless advised that the gelding must complete in an official trial to the satisfaction of stewards should it continue racing. Whilst noting jockey Spinks explanation he was advised that upon straightening he should have placed the gelding under pressure before electing to ease it down. A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
 
REPATRIATE – Bumped at the start and lost ground. Over the concluding stages obliged to alter course to avoid the heels of THE HUSSLER. Cast a near hind plate in running.
 
DITMAS – Slow to begin and a short distance later hampered when tightened for room. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be suffering from the thumps.
 
DANCING ON PARADE – Approaching the 800m inconvenienced when taken wider on the track by LUCKSBURY and had to be eased resulting in the gelding losing significant ground. A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
 
LE CHARIOTEER – Raced wide without cover for the majority.
 
 
RACE 4: SKYLINE RESTAURANT Class 5 Handicap – 1400m
 
DANSEZ – Fractious in the barriers and began awkwardly.
 
KAPSTAR – Hampered at the start. Overraced in the early stages.
 
FLEUR D ORAGE – Eased shortly after the start when tightened for room.
 
RACE 5: GALLERY SEASONAL BUFFET QTIS 2YO Handicap – 900m
 
The start was delayed when both FALVELINO and COSSIE broke through the front gates. After being quickly restrained both horses underwent veterinary examinations and were cleared to start.
 
The start was then further delayed when RAMTASTIC was unable to be loaded and was subsequently declared a late scratching at 2.16 p.m. All monies invested on RAMTASTIC were ordered to be refunded. Deductions applicable to bets placed on winner and placegetters prior to 2.16 p.m.:-
 
27 cents in the dollar for the winner - #8 (HOLDIN MY OWN)
23 cents in the dollar for place of winner - #8 (HOLDIN MY OWN)
19 cents in the dollar for 2nd place - #5 (GREYT LOVE)
22 cents in the dollar for 3rd place - #10 (DEL VEGA)
 
Trainer K. Schweida was advised that the colt would require a further barrier certificate before racing again.
 
FALVELINO – Began awkwardly. When questioned jockey E. Ljung expressed her disappointment in the geldings performance. Jockey Ljung was of the view that the gelding was not adversely affected after breaking through the barriers prior to the start and noted that it was inclined to hang out for the majority of the event. Jockey Ljung added that the gelding is best suited when able to lead and dictate terms. A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
 
LOVE STRUCK – Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped SHIMIZU. Leaving the 600m inconvenienced when taken wider on the track by FALVELINO, which hung out.
 
SHIMIZU – Bumped at the start.
 
HARD CORE – Slow to muster speed.
 
GREYT LOVE – Slow to muster speed.
 
COSSIE – A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
 
 
RACE 6: PINK RIBBON CUP 22 SEPTEMBER Class 3 Handicap – 1200m
 
FALKIRK DRIVE – Began awkwardly. Near the 150m bumped by ACADEMY HILL.
 
OCEAN GRAND – Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
LUNA MISSILE – A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding had bled from both nostrils during the event. Co-trainer B. Guy was advised that gelding will incur a mandatory three month ban from racing and must compete in a 1000m gallop before racing again.
 
ACADEMY HILL – A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be suffering from the thumps.
RACE 7: Ronald McDonald House Charities SEQ Cup Class 1 Handicap – 1800m
 
Stewards permitted jockey D. Smith to replace App B. Nothdurft (ill) as the rider of KASTANOS as no other apprentice was available.
 
DARTH VADER – Fractious in the barriers. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer H. Norman reported that the gelding would be sent for an immediate spell following todays performance.
 
HOOVESGOTCHA – Fractious in the barriers and began awkwardly. A short distance after the start eased when tightened for room. Near the 1300m improved onto heels and had to be steadied. Then overraced in the middle stages and approaching the 900m shifted out and commenced to improve in a three wide position.
 
PERFECT WITNESS – Fractious in the barriers. App A. Fancourt stated that her intention was to obtain a position closer to the speed but after being slow to begin and caught three wide she was obliged to restrain to obtain a position with cover. App Fancourt added that the gelding was under pressure passing the 800m and at no stage travelled comfortably and proved disappointing.Trainer T. Gollan noted that the gelding was having its first start in blinkers today nonetheless he expressed his disappointment and in the absence of any tangible explanation undertook to report to stewards any abnormalities that may explain the geldings disappointing performance. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
KASTANOS – Began awkwardly.
 
CORSINI – Eased when tightened for room shortly after the start. Leaving the 1400m improved onto the heels of PERFECT WITNESS and shifted out.
 
CHICAGO NIGHTS – Raced wide early and was ridden forward to obtain a position closer to the fence. Near the 150m steadied when tightened for room between LILAKAI and GUN BOLT, both of which shifted ground.
 
MUCH DEEPER – Near the 1300m steadied from heels.
 
DARESAY – Passing the 1300m taken wider on the track by CORSINI. Raced wide without cover throughout. Jockey A. Spinks reported that the mare failed to travel comfortably in todays soft conditions.
 
 
RACE 8: BOOK NOW SPRING CARNIVAL Class 2 Handicap – 1400m
 
Stewards permitted C. Eaton to be substituted as the rider of HENRYS ON COURSE when J. Hoopert was indisposed.  
 
Stewards permitted jockey R. Palmer to replace App B. Nothdurft (ill) as the rider of SHONECK AFFAIR as no other apprentice was available.
 
ASTRONOMIC – Slow to begin.
 
REAL ELUSIVE – Began awkwardly.
 
WHODUNNIT – Began awkwardly. Near the 1000m inconvenienced by OAK PARK BELLE, after that runner suffered interference.
 
THE SHEEPISH LION – Bumped at the start.
 
SHONECK AFFAIR – Approaching the 1200m eased when placed in restricted room between OAK PARK BELLE and CRAB BOY, which laid in. Approaching the 1000m checked from the heels of OAK PARK BELLE after that runner sustained interference.
 
OAK PARK BELLE – Approaching the 1200m became awkward when placed in restricted room and bumped the running rail. Approaching the 1000m placed in restricted room to the inside of CRAB BOY, which had a tendency to lay in and away from DIVISIONAL. As a consequence OAK PARK BELLE made contact with the running rail, lost ground and then clipped the heels of CRAB BOY, which continued to lay in and away from DIVISIONAL. At a subsequent inquiry stewards could not be satisfied that the interference suffered by OAK PARK BELLE was caused by the carelessness of any one rider and took no further action.
 
BROOKAJOE – Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
App A. Fancourt (DIVISIONAL) was reprimanded for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m.
