QUEENSLAND RACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT AQUIS PARK – 1 SEPTEMBER 2018 WEATHER – FINETRACK RATING – GOOD 4RAIL – +3.5M 1400-W/POST; +1.5M REMAINDER OF COURSEPENETROMETER – 4.53 OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – I BrownStewards – P Zimmerman, B Connell, P ReardonClerk of Scales – J RobinsonJudge – S McMahonVeterinarian – J SilvestriSwab attendants – K Kilpatrick, A FlemingStarter – S Andrews, K WatsonStewards Secretary – L Stokes GENERAL Stewards inquired into an alleged incident between Trainers John Zielke and Brad Witt in the enclosure prior to race 4. After taking evidence from both Trainers and Jockey L Rolls, Stewards could not be satisfied that the conduct of either Trainer was in breach of the Rules of Racing. Nonetheless, both Trainers were reminded of their obligations as licensed individuals to act professionally at all times and were subsequently advised that similar conduct would result in penalties being imposed. RACE 1: #Betonbirdsville Maiden Handicap – 1100m 1st: Star Stryker 2nd: Whitebait Pattie 3rd: The Kingdom 4th: Chicoutimi Trainer B Witt was fined the sum of $100 for failing to produce the identification card for GUNNARR. Prior to being presented to race, Stewards noted that THE KINGDOM was a gelding, in contrast to publications in which it was advertised as a colt. Public announcements were made to this effect. Trainer L Kelly was reprimanded for failing to update the stable return. STAR STRYKER – After being loaded, broke through the front gates, was quickly restrained and underwent a veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Eased when tightened for room shortly after the start. ETIKAAL - Slow to begin. Slow to muster speed during the early stages. Passing the 800m improved onto the heels of GUNNARR and was steadied. Raced greenly throughout. Approaching the winning post was eased when awkwardly placed inside the heels of THE KINGDOM. GUNNARR - Began awkwardly. THE KINGDOM – Slow to begin. Raced greenly throughout. WHITEBAIT PATTIE - Laid in under pressure. RACE 2: Cordner Super Advisory Maiden Handicap – 1100m1st: Out For Justice 2nd: Grace of Monaco 3rd: Lucky Fix 4th: Club Soda Stewards accepted the explanation from Trainer T Cotsiopoulos for the late declaration of Jockey G Colless on GRACE OF MONACO. DREAM DANZA – Arrived late on course due to traffic delays, underwent a veterinary examination and was cleared to start. GIVEMEAMINUTE - Bumped at the start. OUT FOR JUSTICE - Began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped HENRYS AFFAIR. When questioned as to the seemingly improved performance, Trainer J Pritchard stated that the colt was first up from a spell and had trialled well leading into todays event and as such she anticipated a forward showing. Ms Pritchard added that the colt was not suited by firm tracks towards the end of its 2 year old campaign. Her explanation was noted. HENRYS AFFAIR - Bumped at the start. LUCKY DRAW - Began awkwardly. Raced wide without cover throughout. Near the 400m inconvenienced by CLUB SODA which shifted out to secure clear running. Jockey L Rolls (CLUB SODA) was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances. LILY AMORA – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be suffering from heat stress and was treated accordingly by the on course veterinary surgeon. RACE 3: Corpsure Insurance Broking QTIS 3YO Class 1 Plate – 1200m1st: Mystic Mist 2nd: Brinkmanship 3rd: Fish N Snitz 4th: Im Rosie INFLAMMABLE - Stewards approved the late gear change of barrier blanket on. Difficult to load. Slow to begin. Hampered a short distance later. Raced wide without cover throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Co-trainer Mrs G Heinrich advised that the gelding would be sent for an immediate spell. Mrs Heinrich was advised that the horse would be required to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to starting again. MYSTIC MIST – When questioned as to the seemingly improved performance, Trainer H Norman stated that he was pleased with the fillys last start when beaten only 4 lengths at metropolitan grade when first up from a spell. GRAND DE LAGO – Cast its near fore plate in running. RACE 4: Switch Electrical Maiden Handicap – 1400m1st: Bill the Conqueror 2nd: Gilded Lion 3rd: Cedar Rapids 4th: The Pony After falling in the enclosure, BILL THE CONQUEROR underwent a veterinary examination behind the barriers and was cleared to start. Announcement of correct weight was delayed to allow Jockey A Fancourt to review the start to ascertain if CATENA was afforded a fair start. After viewing the patrol footage Jockey Fancourt was satisfied with the start. BILL THE CONQUEROR – Slow to begin. Over-raced during the early stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have bled from one nostril and to also be suffering from the thumps. Trainer G Laming will be advised that the gelding must gallop 1000m to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to starting again. REGRADING – Slow to begin. STRIKING DISTANCE – Began awkwardly. Over-raced during the early stages. Held up approaching the home turn. VIDA DIVINA – Raced wide without cover throughout. SHORT N REGAL – Raced wide throughout. VICTORY STAR – Raced wide throughout. CEDAR RAPIDS – Commenced to over-race leaving the 900m and improved onto the heels of THE PONY and shifted out. THOUGHT PROCESS – Momentarily held up upon straightening when unable to improve to the outside of THE PONY due to CEDAR RAPIDS racing directly to its outside. Jockey H Poland (THE PONY) was reminded of her obligations to ride her mounts right out to the end of the race. RACE 5: GCOMM Class 4 Handicap – 1800m 1st: Tedder Avenue 2nd: Brenda 3rd: Face Like Thunder 4th: Lucy Le Roc FACE LIKE THUNDER - Slow to begin. TANG DYNASTY - Over-raced during the middle stages. PRINCE MORPHEUS - Raced wide without cover throughout. TEDDER AVENUE - Upon straightening, improved into a narrow run to the inside of BRENDA and in doing so bumped BRENDA on a number of occasions. BRENDA - Bumped by TEDDER AVENUE on a number of occasions during the early stages of the home straight. RACE 6: Wash It Australia F & M BenchMark 65 Handicap – 1400m1st: Blooming Tycoon 2nd: Flying Machine 3rd: Shes a Youeffoh 4th: Escaday BLOOMING TYCOON - Began awkwardly. When questioned as to the seemingly improved performance, Trainer I Livingstone stated that the mare failed to perform as expected during a campaign earlier this year in Melbourne. Mr Livingstone added that since returning to his stables the mare had impressed him in its work and subsequent trials leading into todays event and as such he was hopeful of a forward showing. ESCADAY - Slow to begin. Leaving the 1000m commenced to over-race and continued to do so for some distance. Held up upon straightening. PLAY THING - Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout. YANKEE BUBBLES - Raced wide without cover throughout. SHES A YOUEFFOH - Approaching the 1000m and again near the 900m, was inconvenienced by HALFETI which laid in. Held up passing the 400m. HALFETI - Laid in during the early stages when being restrained and in an attempt to obtain cover. Raced wide throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame in the off fore leg. Trainer B Baker was advised that a veterinary certificate of fitness will be required before the mares next race start. RACE 7: Cordner Advisory C, G & E BenchMark 65 Handicap – 1400m1st: Champagne Rock 2nd: Legal Counsel 3rd: Sequalos Spirit 4th: Catch Me Latar Stewards accepted the explanation from Trainer L Mayfield-Smith for the late declaration of App. A Denby on CAVALLI. TOO EASY BRO – Trainer advised that the gelding was to be ridden off the speed today. Jockey Allen reported that he attempted to restrain the gelding in the early stages to comply with his instructions. When unable to obtain cover he allowed it to cross forward of runners to his inside to obtain a position closer to the fence with the intention of then handing up the lead to obtain cover. Despite his efforts, the gelding then continued to over-race during the middle stages of the event. SEQUALOS SPIRIT - Bumped at the start and hampered a short distance later. Raced wide throughout. CATCH ME LATAR - Hampered shortly after the start. Laid in under pressure in the early stages of the home straight and as a consequence approaching the 100m was allowed to shift in across heels to secure clear running over the concluding stages. MOGUL - Raced wide in the early stages before obtaining a position outside the leader passing the 900m. CHAMPAGNE ROCK - Raced wide without cover throughout. ARGOS REVENGE - Approaching the 800m improved onto the heels of LEGAL COUNSEL and was steadied. THE MONK - Held up approaching the home turn. WALK TO THE BAR - Steadied from heels over the concluding stages. LEGAL COUNSEL - Bumped by TOO EASY BRO near the 200m and again leaving the 100m. RACE 8: Stonehouse Group Mares Class 1 Handicap – 1200m1st: Didnt Mention It 2nd: Mymming 3rd: Our Gracious Dane 4th: Last Light Trainer G Schwenke was fined $100 for the late declaration of Jockey F Jervis on MILLY MUNCHER. LAST LIGHT – Stewards approved the late gear change of ear muffs on for pre-race only. Prior to the start BEVEILE attempted to lunge forward under the gates and as a result became cast. BEVEILE was declared at late scratching at 4.18pm on veterinary advice. All monies invested on BEVEILE were ordered to be refunded. Deductions applicable to bets placed on winner and place-getters prior to 4.18pm:- 4 cents in the dollar for the Win #25 cents in the dollar for the place of winner #24 cents in the dollar for the 2nd place #35 cents in the dollar for the 3rd place #8 Starting prices are subject to deduction. Trainer D Duryea indicated that BEVEILE would now be retired. Nonetheless, she was advised that the mare must trial twice to the satisfaction of stewards prior to racing again. ART FORM and PRINCESS CAVALLO also underwent a veterinary examination and were cleared to start. LAST LIGHT - Began awkwardly and bumped ROYAL EQUIANO. Raced wide without cover in the early and middle stages before obtaining a position outside the leader near the 600m. ROYAL EQUIANO - Bumped at the start. Leaving the 100m was steadied when placed in restricted room between LAST LIGHT and OUR GRACIOUS DANE both of which shifted ground. MYMMING - Began awkwardly. MILLY MUNCHER - Bumped at the start. SIREEANNA - Bumped at the start. Raced wide throughout. PRINCESS CAVALLO - Leaving the 900m improved onto the heels of MILLY MUNCHER and over-raced during the middle stages and approaching the 700m had to be steadied from the heels of ROYAL EQUIANO. DIDNT MENTION IT - Over-raced in the middle stages when awkwardly placed inside the heels of PRINCESS CAVALLO. Held up approaching the home turn. ART FORM - Obliged to race in restricted room leaving the 1000m. Over-raced during the middle stages and approaching the 500m had to be checked away from the heels of ROYAL EQUIANO. CINNABON - Raced wide throughout. RACE 9: Kidsoft Entires & Geldings Class 1 Handicap – 1200m1st: Zoff N Off 2nd: Raise An Army 3rd: Marokawa 4th: The Wardsmen Stewards accepted the explanation from Trainer L Ross for the late declaration of App. A Denby on SNOOPER. CAPEOS - Kicked out in the gates prior to start and subsequently underwent a veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Checked shortly after the start when tightened for room and lost ground. DOOM - Badly hampered when tightened for room shortly after the start and lost ground. Approaching the 200m was obliged to alter course to the inside of SNOOPER to secure clear running and in doing so bumped FLYPAST and became unbalanced for a short distance. MORION - Bumped shortly after the start when inconvenienced. FLYPAST - Over-raced during the early stages. Bumped leaving the 200m. MAROKAWA - Over-raced during the early stages when being restrained in an attempt to obtain cover. Approaching the 800m was checked when tightened for room between SNOOPER and FLYPAST both of which shifted ground. Raced wide throughout. SNOOPER - Raced wide without cover throughout. Laid in passing the 200m. JAYDEE INDY - Raced wide throughout. RAISE AN ARMY - Upon straightening was obliged to alter course to the inside of FLYPAST to secure clear running.
