PORN STAR PETE - Slow to begin.

SHIITAKE - Blundered at the start.

HOT HANSEL - Hung in during the early stages of the home straight.

NEWS DIRECTOR - Raced wide without cover throughout and then raced greenly in the home straight and shifted out abruptly leaving the 200m. Jockey A Fancourt reported at scale that the gelding may benefit by the blinkers being removed for its next start.

THE PONSTER - Held up over the concluding stages.

RACE 2: 1029 Hot Tomato Class 3 Handicap – 1800m

DELOS – To be ridden closer to the speed today - Slow to begin. Settled mid-field.

SHE SALUTES - Caught wide during the early stages and ridden forward to the lead near the 1300m.

TWILIGHTER - Shifted out abruptly over the concluding stages.

TWO FOR THE ROAD - A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

After the running of Race 2, the track was upgraded to a Good 3.

RACE 3: Flan, Emily Jade & Christo Maiden Handicap – 1800m

As Jockey L Tilley was to be overweight, he was replaced on LOCUST by Jockey A Fancourt. Jockey Tilley was fined the sum of $200.

PROUD CAPTAIN - Slow to begin.

PRINCE HUSSON - Stood flat-footed as the start was effected and lost ground.

FOLLOW OUR DREAM - Near the 800m was eased when placed in restricted room. Bumped approaching the 200m.

LA FIREBIRD - Held up rounding the home turn and during the early stages of the home straight before shifting back to the inside of UBER MOVER to secure clear running passing the 300m.

UBER MOVER - Bumped approaching the 200m. Stewards questioned Jockey S Bogenhuber regarding the tactics, in particular, whether there was an opportunity to take up a position with cover behind CHAUVE DOG near the 1400m. Ms Bogenhuber stated that she had considered taking up that position, however, was mindful of her specific instructions to lead and therefore when caught wide in the early stages, allowed the horse to stride forward in an attempt to obtain the lead. Ms Bogenhuber noted that she was only able to obtain a position outside the leader near the 900m. Trainer P Butterworth confirmed the instructions and noted that similar tactics had been adopted at the geldings last start.

CHUAVE DOG - A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding which compounded leaving the 500m revealed no abnormalities. Trainer D Joice was of the opinion that the gelding may have choked down during the event. Mr Joice was advised that the gelding will be required to trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to racing again. Mr Joice indicated that he may experiment with the addition of a tongue tie.

RACE 4: Candice Maiden Handicap – 1300m

LEBRON - Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced wide throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the near fore leg. Trainer B Smith was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required.

LILIERO - Slow to begin and a short distance later was hampered when tightened for room.

FILTERS - Bumped at the start. Leaving the 1000m had to be steadied from the heels of NO HAT NO PLAY.

DEEP BLUE SEA - Hampered when tightened for room shortly after the start.

NO HAT NO PLAY - Leaving the 1000m became awkward of its own accord and made contact with the running rail and lost ground. Mindful that a similar incident occurred 2 starts prior which resulted in the rider on that occasion being dislodged, Stewards will advise Trainer M Costa that a specialist veterinary report regarding the geldings vision will be required. Upon receipt of that report Stewards will then give consideration as to what further embargos may be required.

CRUDE OIL - Raced wide without cover throughout.

HEZA GOOD BOY - Raced wide throughout. Bumped by SPICERS PEAK on a number of occasions rounding the home turn.

RACE 5: Simon Carey BenchMark 75 Handicap – 1200m

The start was initially delayed when RICH AFFAIR proved difficult to load.

The start was then further delayed when ONENESS lunged forward in the barriers. The gelding subsequently underwent a veterinary examination and was cleared to start.

RIDEONABIGJETPLANE - Began awkwardly and lost ground. Jockey L Dittman reported at scale that the gelding failed to stretch out on todays surface.

COUNTER MEAL - Held up during the early stages of the home straight before obtaining clear running leaving the 200m.

RICH AFFAIR – Jockey N Day lost the use of his near side iron in the early stages of the home straight.

DIAMONDS ARE - A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off hind leg. Trainer M Costa will be advised that a veterinary clearance will be required prior to the gelding’s next race start.

RACE 6: Galey, Mal and Moyra Class 1 Handicap – 1100m

BACCHUR - Leaving the 600m was eased when placed in restricted room to the inside of TRUE MYTH which had a tendency to lay in. Hung out under pressure in the home straight.

WOLF TALES - Near the 500m improved onto the heels of BRINKMANSHIP and had to be steadied.

TRUE MYTH - When questioned as to the performance, Jockey S Galloway noted the gelding was having its first start in a clockwise direction and laid in over the final 600m proving difficult to ride. Nonetheless, he was still disappointed with its overall performance. Trainer M Costa will be interviewed at a later date.

RACE 7: Liv at Night Class 3 Handicap – 1400m

As Jockey P Hammersley was indisposed through injury he was replaced on PROTEST by Jockey C Whiteley.

Prior to the announcement of correct weight the connections of AKAGE (L Dittman) the 4th placegetter viewed the patrol films to ascertain whether there were grounds to lodge a protest against the 3rd placegetter LOTA CREEK GOLD (B Ainsworth) and/or the 1st placegetter GREYWOLF (T Marshall). After viewing the films, the connections elected not to proceed with an objection and correct weight was declared.           At a subsequent inquiry it was determined that the interference suffered by AKAGE near the 100m was a result of contributing factors, being a marginal shift inwards from GREYWOLF and LOTA CREEK GOLD shifting out and away from ARCHIE LUXURY which shifted out substantially under pressure over the final 300m. Nonetheless, Jockey L Tilley (ARCHIE LUXURY) was reprimanded for failing to stop riding and straighten his mount earlier.

TYCOON FLUTTER - Ducked its head as the start was effected and in doing so lost ground.

GREYWOLF - Blundered at the start. Leaving the 1300m had to be eased when tightened for room. Held up rounding the home turn.

CAMBODIAN PRINCE - Leaving the 1300m had to be eased when tightened for room.

WACK EM - Leaving the 1100m commenced to over-race and continued to do so for some distance thereafter.

AKAGE - Over-raced for a considerable distance leaving the 1100m and in doing so bumped SOLARCRAFT. Approaching the 100m was checked when tightened for room and lost ground.

SOLARCRAFT - Bumped leaving the 1000m. Leaving the 800m bumped by AKAGE and forced to race wide for the remainder of the event.

EPIC RANT - Near the 1000m had to be steadied from heels.

ARCHIE LUXURY - Shifted out under pressure over the final 300m and over the concluding stages bumped GREYWOLF.

Jockey L Tilley was reprimanded for permitting ARCHIE LUXURY to shift in shortly after the start when not sufficiently clear of WACK EM which resulted in GREYWOLF and CAMBODIAN PRINCE being tightened for room. Stewards acknowledged that WACK EM was inclined to lay in and away from ARCHIE LUXURY which contributed to the interference of GREYWOLF and CAMBODIAN PRINCE.
