IVY LANE - A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be suffering from heat stress and was treated by the on-course veterinarian.

RACE 4: AC-TEC Services BenchMark 60 Handicap – 2200m

REAL KAOS shifted a near fore plate prior to entering the enclosure and was subsequently replated and examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to start.

Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Trainer L Wheeler (DARESAY) after viewing the official photo disputed the Judges decision to declare a dead heat for 3rd between CANONGATE and DARESAY. After further viewing the photo and hearing evidence from Judge S McMahon, the quality of the mirror image was unable to assist in the determination of placings. As the nose of CANONGATE was obscured behind the neck of CATCH ME LATAR (2nd), the Stewards could not be satisfied that the Judge had erred and subsequently declared correct weight on the numbers semaphored.

REAL KAOS - Fractious in the barriers and reared as the start was effected and lost ground. Caught wide during the early stages and when endeavouring to obtain cover behind OAKFIELD MONARCH, bumped QABLA.

CATCH ME LATAR - Began awkwardly.

GENERAL ASSAULT - Raced wide during the early stages before obtaining the lead near the 1500m.

QABLA - Approaching the 1800m bumped by REAL KAOS and then commenced to over-race for a short distance. Held up rounding the home turn.

OAKFIELD MONARCH - Shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages.

RACE 5: TFH Hire Services Class 3 Handicap – 1100m

SOLO MELODY was fractious in the barriers and reared as the start was effected becoming momentarily cast resulting in Jockey N Day being dislodged. Prior to declaring correct weight, Stewards viewed the patrol footage and confirmed that SOLO MELODY was not denied a fair start and as such was deemed to be a runner. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a laceration to its mouth.

SEENTO - Slow to begin.

LUNAR MISSILE – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be displaying an abnormal respiratory noise. Connections advised that the gelding had previously undergone a throat operation, however, indicated that an endoscopic examination would be performed. Stewards will follow up with B and D Guy to ascertain the results of the examination.

RACE 6: Gold Coast Bulletin F&M Class 2 Handicap – 1400m

CAPA CAYLEE - Over-raced during the early and middle stages.

TYCOON LAYLA – Approaching the 1000m had to be steadied from heels and then continued to over-race during the middle stages of the event.

RIVER OF LOVE - Near the 200m shifted out marginally and bumped CRUZ DE VEGA.

RACE 7: The Neumann Group C,G&E Class 2 Handicap – 1400m

As Jockey L Rolls was to be overweight and no senior rider was available at the weight, stewards permitted App. C Frater-Hill to replace him on MAQUEREAU. Jockey L Rolls was fined the sum of $100.

STAR ECHO - Hampered at the start. Bumped on a number of occasions in the home straight.

IRON CRAFT - Began awkwardly.

COULTHARD - Began awkwardly. Bumped on a number of occasions in the home straight.

THE DANGER – When questioned regarding the tactics adopted in the early stages, Jockey A Fancourt stated that her instructions were to attempt to obtain the lead as the gelding has previously performed well when ridden in that manner. Ms Fancourt added that in an effort to comply with those instructions she rode the gelding vigorously in the initial 200m, however, after realising she was unable to cross forward of MALCRIADO, she took hold in an attempt to settle the gelding but despite her efforts it refused to settle until a point near the 900m.

MALCRIADO – When questioned regarding the tactics adopted in the early stages, Jockey S Bogenhuber stated that she was specifically instructed to lead on the basis that the gelding has never performed well when ridden with cover. Ms Bogenhuber added that for this reason she was reluctant to allow THE DANGER to cross forward of her in the early stages. Ms Bogenhuber further added that after THE DANGER was steadied leaving the 1200m she then attempted to reduce the tempo, however, the gelding continued to race strongly despite her efforts. Trainer C Cousins confirmed the instructions.
