GENERAL
 
As Jockey C Frater-Hill was indisposed through illness, Stewards permitted rider changes as per Stewards Race Day Summary.
 
 
RACE 1: Aquis Ladies Day 5 Jan QTIS 2yo Maiden Plate – 900m
 
PERFECT SAGE – Slow to begin. Forced 3 wide passing the 500m by LUANA.
 
LUANA – Slow into stride. Passing the 500m improved onto the heels of PICTON and had to be restrained and shifted out.
 
RAPID ASCENT – Began awkwardly.
 
PICTON – Passing the 500m had to be steadied away from the heels of RAPID ASCENT which shifted out to improve.
 
RACE 2: Christmas Festive Feast Class 3 Plate – 1400m
 
BEL CLASSICO – After passing the 400m, commenced to weaken and proved disappointing in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
RACE 3: LJ Hooker Gold Coast Class 1 Plate – 1800m
 
QUEACHY – After passing the 1300m commenced to over-race when the pace slackened and passing the 1100m was shifted 3 wide to improve forward to obtain the lead passing the 900m.
 
STATELY MANNER – Over-raced during the early stages.
 
SILENT FLYER – Over-raced during the early stages.
 
FOURGRANDMAN – Passing the 900m when crossed by QUEACHY, MY DELILAH which was racing to QUEACHYs inside, laid in and away from that runner and made slight contact with FOURGRANDMAN causing it to become unbalanced for a couple of strides.
 
RACE 4: Rosies Class 4 Handicap – 1200m
 
ZOFF N OFF – Began awkwardly. Approaching the winning post the rider had to stop riding when tightened for room to the outside of SPANKS which was taken out by SEND US A SIGN (C Franklin). Jockey C Franklin was advised to show greater care to his fellow riders when shifting ground whilst under pressure.
 
SAIL THE STARS – Slow to begin and then bumped shortly after. Passing the 600m had to be steadied away from heels and shifted out.
 
TAIKO BOOM – After being caught wide in the early stages, was restrained in an attempt to obtain a position closer to the rail at the rear of the field, however, commenced to over-race and was unable to be restrained and therefore raced 3 wide without cover throughout.
 
NOBLE BILLY – Over-raced during the early and middle stages. Passing the 600m had a tendency to lay in and away from TAIKO BOOM.
 
ALL PLUCK – Approaching the 600m had to be restrained from heels and shift out slightly and in doing so made contact with NOBLE BILLY. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have sustained an abrasion to its near hind bumper and lacerations- to its off hind heel.
 
SPANKS – Approaching the 200m was disappointed for a narrow run to the inside of SEND US A SIGN and had to then shift out around its heels to improve. A post-race veterinary examination revealed lacerations to the outside of its off hind hock which were treated by the veterinary surgeon.
 
RACE 5: Realestate.com.au Maiden Handicap – 1100m
 
Trainer S Kendrick made application for PER ARDUA to race with a tongue tie which was not part of its advertised gear. Stewards acceded to the request for PER ARDUA to race with a tongue tie, however, Trainer S Kendrick was fined the sum of $200 for not notifying the gear change by the required time.
 
As Jockey R Plumb was to be overweight, Stewards permitted Jockey S Galloway to replace him on RAZZY. Jockey Plumb was fined the sum of $200.
 
BLUE COMET – Slow to begin and then tightened for room shortly after.
 
PERJURY – Began awkwardly. After being caught wide early, was allowed to stride forward to obtain a position outside the leader passing the 800m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have bled from both nostrils for the first time. The gelding will incur a mandatory three months ban from racing under the provisions of AR53A. Representative for Trainer E Press advised Stewards that it would now be their intention to retire the gelding.
 
MURTALLICA – Began awkwardly. Passing the 900m was tightened for room and forced in by MISHANI WICKED.
 
VIBRANT THUNDER – Bumped on jumping away. Passing the 900m was tightened for room by MURTALLICA which was forced in by MISHANI WICKED.
 
Jockey N Day the rider of MISHANI WICKED was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) for permitting his mount to shift in passing the 900m when insufficiently clear of MURTALLICA which was tightened and taken in onto the running of VIBRANT THUNDER which had to be checked and lose its rightful running. Jockey N Day was suspended from riding in races for a period of 11 days to commence midnight 17/11/18 and to expire midnight 28/11/18.
 
MEANER – Shortly after the start when being restrained to obtain cover, began to lay in and blundered of its own accord and then laid in across the heels of MISHANI WICKED.
 
PER ARDUA – Passing the 1000m was heavily bumped by PERJURY which hung in and away from CHIEF HAVOC. Lost its off hind plate in running.
 
RAZZY – Had a tendency to hang in throughout the event.
 
The track was upgraded to a Good 3 after the running of this race.
 
RACE 6: LJ Hooker Robina Maiden Handicap – 1400m
 
LUVYOULONGTIME – Slow to begin.
 
THATLLDO – Began awkwardly. Approaching the 800m appeared to falter and broke down. A veterinary examination revealed the colt to have suffered a complete fracture of the near fore fetlock and was subsequently euthanized by the veterinary surgeon on humane grounds.
 
KARAS – Bumped on jumping away.
 
AZDAJA – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout. Passing the 800m when following FLYING DEE JAY had to shift out abruptly to avoid the heels of THATLLDO and lost considerable ground.

IN SEATTLE – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout. Passing the 800m had to shift wider to avoid THATLLDO and lost considerable ground.
 
FLYING DEE JAY – Approaching the 800m had to be checked severely and shifted away from the heels of THATLLDO and was severely inconvenienced and retired from the event.
 
SMOKIN HUSSAY – After being in a mid-field trailing position passing the 800m was unable to avoid THATLLDO and made heavy contact with that runner and became unbalanced and dislodged its rider.
 
MISSY MUSKETEER – Was inconvenienced when SMOKIN HUSSAY lost its rider passing the 700m.
 
Both Jockeys D Griffin and L Rolls were examined by ambulance personnel and cleared to fulfil their remaining engagements.
 
Race officials inspected the area where THATLLDO fell and were satisfied that the track had no bearing on the incident and it was safe to continue racing.
 
RACE 7: LJ Hooker Nerang QTIS 3yo Maiden Handicap – 1200m
 
SOWHAT IMAROCKSTAR – Slow to begin.
 
ALTO HARMONY – Began awkwardly.
 
CLOCHE – Began awkwardly.
 
RICHEST – Began awkwardly and shifted in. Raced 3 wide without cover throughout. After passing the 200m whilst weakening, had a tendency to lay in under pressure.
 
LISTEN MATE – Bumped on jumping away.
 
COLD POWER - Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.
 
STARLIGHTER – Raced 3 wide with cover throughout.
 
DREAM SERENADE – Passing the 300m improved onto heels and had to be steadied and shifted out to obtain clear running.
 
RACE 8: LJ Hooker Southport QTIS 3yo Maiden Handicap – 1200m
 
Trainer T Edmonds was fined the sum of $200 for the late rider declaration of Jockey L Dittman on THE PALMS.
 
The start was initially delayed when BOOM ROCKER had to be resaddled after arriving at the barriers.
 
The start was further delayed when MISHANI PALOMA became fractious in the barriers and in doing so dislodged the bridle. The filly was removed from the barriers, had the bridle refitted and was cleared by the veterinary surgeon to take its place. Trainer L Ross was advised that the filly would need to obtain a further barrier certificate prior to racing again.
 
LUTECE - Began awkwardly.
 
LADY RINGO - Slow to begin.
 
THE DEMTEL MAN - Slow to begin. Forced wider by POWERFUL LASS which was bumped out by BLACKLOG.
 
BLACKLOG - Slow begin. Passing the 900m improved onto heels and shifted out.
 
POWERFUL LASS - Bumped by BLACKLOG passing the 900m. Raced 3 wide without cover from the 800m.
 
RACE 9: LJ Hooker Pacific Pines Class 1 Handicap – 1200m
 
The start was slightly delayed when WASHINGTON STREET proved difficult to load. Trainer C Munce was advised that a warning would be placed against the gelding for its barrier manners.
 
GREYNOMAD - Slow to begin.
 
FULL DIAMOND - Bumped on jumping away.
 
CHARMING PRINCE - Bumped on jumping away.
 
FIELDS OF GLORY - Began awkwardly. Raced 3 wide without cover throughout and commenced to weaken after passing the 500m and finished a distant last. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Trainer L Garrett was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding for its poor performance.
 
DONT DOUBT LARA - Got its head up and over-raced when being restrained in the early stages.
 
WASHINGTON STREET - Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.
 
MISS AMANDA - Over the final 200m shifted out under pressure.
 
RACE10: LJ Hooker Broadwater Class 1 Handicap – 1200m
 
Due to a clerical error it was not advertised that TOLAI MERI is to race in a tongue tie.
 
Trainer M Lakey requested that FLAME OF LIBERTY be withdrawn due to the track upgrade. Stewards acceded to his request and the gelding was withdrawn at 3.10 pm.
 
KIJITO - Slow to begin. When questioned regarding the improved performance, Trainer N Boyle explained that the gelding had worked well leading into todays event. He further added that the gelding had won previously first up from a spell and even though he gave the gelding a good chance of performing well today he was surprised that the horse raced back in the field after being slowly away. He further added that in hindsight the gelding may be better kept fresh and may be suited to being ridden in a similar manner in future starts, however, Stewards advised Mr Boyle that if the gelding was to race in a different pattern in the future, he would have an obligation to notify Stewards of any changes to the geldings racing pattern.
 
WINE BARREL - Began awkwardly. Momentarily held up rounding the home turn and in the early part of the home straight.
 
MIGHTY MITTERE - Bumped on jumping away. Bumped by GLITTER TOP passing the 900m. Approaching the 700m clipped the heels of GLITTER TOP and blundered losing considerable ground. Over the final 250m weakened and finished at the rear of the field. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
NEVER IN DOUBT - Over-raced during the early and middle stages. After passing the 700m had to be steadied away from heels when awkwardly placed to the inside of MIGHTY MITTERE.
 
GLITTER TOP – After passing the 900m commenced to hang in and made contact with MIGHTY MITTERE and then passing the 700m raced very ungenerously and hung in despite the efforts of its rider tightening MIGHTY MITTERE to its inside. Trainer C Henderson was advised that the mare would have to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to racing again.
 
TOLAI MERI - Passing the 700m had to shift out to avoid heels.
