SUPPLEMENTARY

From Gold Coast Meeting 24/11/2018 – Race 9 Class 2, 1300m
Trainer S. O’Dea reported that following the disappointing performance of AIRACOBRA the gelding had pulled up well after the event. He added that in his view the gelding may not have run out a strong 1300m after being pressured for the lead. He further added that the gelding would have a short break before continuing on with its preparation.

GENERAL

Due to storm activity in the area all races were put back one race time slot, with Race 8 to be run at 5.20 p.m.

RACE 1: Skyline Restaurant QTIS 2YO Handicap – 900m

The start of this race was delayed after all runners had presented to the parade ring for this event and were ordered by stewards to return back to the raceday tie-up stalls due to the storm activity.

BYRON BUOY – Inconvenienced and bumped outwards passing the 200m when SCOUT shifted outwards. Jockey R. Maloney (SCOUT) was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground in future.

MISHANI ELECTRA – Jumped away awkwardly. When questioned regarding the performance App B. This resulted in the mare settling further back than anticipated. He further stated that the mare travelled only fairly in running and disappointed when failing to run on in the straight. A post race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be  suffering from a mild case of the thumps.

Stewards considered an objection lodged by jockey M. McGillivray the rider of ARCHIE LUXURY which finished fourth against TRUE MYTH (S. Galloway) being declared third placegetter on the grounds of alleged interference near the 100m. After taking evidence and reviewing the films stewards were of the view that near the 100m ARCHIE LUXURY was eased when racing tight between TRUE MYTH, which rolled out and COULTHARD, which rolled inwards. After taking into account the nature and degree of interference, along with the way the respective horses finished off the race, stewards were of the opinion that ARCHIE LUXURY would not have beaten TRUE MYTH to the line and as such the objection was dismissed.

LE MATTAN – Fractious in the barriers, was removed, examined by the veterinary surgeon and subsequently cleared to start. Slow to begin after making contact with RED CALVARY on jumping. Trainer B. Smith reported that the gelding returned making a respiratory noise. Mr Smith advised that he will now have the gelding scoped, the results of which he would furnish to stewards.
