QUEENSLAND RACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT AQUIS PARK – SATURDAY 15 DECEMBER 2018 WEATHER – OVERCAST TRACK RATING – GOOD 3RAIL – OUT 4.5M 1400-W/POST, 1M REMAINDERPENETROMETER – 4.25 OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – I. FlemingStarter – S Andrews, K WatsonStewards Secretary – S. Rolls RACE 1: UBET QTIS 3YO BenchMark 70 Handicap – 1400m Stewards considered an objection lodged by D. Griffin the rider of YAMAZAKI which finished third against SHAMURT (A. Fancourt) being declared second on the grounds of alleged interference in the home straight. After viewing the patrol footage and taking evidence stewards established that upon straightening SHAMURT shifted out in an effort to secure clear running and in doing so made contact with YAMAZAKI and again near the 150m shifted out marginally and hampered YAMAZAKI. Stewards were of the opinion that the racing manners of YAMAZAKI contributed to the interference upon straightening and that the total interference suffered by YAMAZAKI was only minimal. Bearing in mind the way in which both runners finished off the race stewards could not be satisfied that the total interference suffered by YAMAZAKI was greater than the official margin of a neck and subsequently dismissed the protest.
