From Rockhampton Meeting 7/2/2019
Stewards interviewed App N. Fazackerley in regards to his failure to arrive on course to fulfil his riding engagement. After hearing his explanation and also receiving documentation supporting his version of events Stewards accepted his explanation.
Race 1 – Aquis Farm QTIS | 2YO Handicap | 900m
Exploration – Began awkwardly
Secondofmay – Raced wide without cover throughout.
Class Of Royalty – Raced wide throughout.
Timely Bel – Had a tendency to hang in throughout the home straight.
Witchel – Jockey M. Hellyer reported the filly got its tongue over the bit.
Jockey M. Schrapel (Secondofmay) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR137(a) in that he permitted his mount to shift in passing the winning post when insufficiently clear of Timely Bel, resulting in Timely Bel having to be checked after the winning post. Jockey Schrapel’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of eight (8) days to commence midnight 9 February 2019 and expire midnight 17 February 2019.
Race 2 – Hickey Lawyers | Class 2 Handicap | 1200m
Hutcho was declared a late scratching at 12.26 p.m. on veterinary advice after being injured in the float en route to the races.
Bezzina – Slow to begin.
Burning Success – Slow to begin. Taken wider passing the 800m and raced wide without cover for the remainder. Hung in throughout the home straight.
Crazy Pops – Began awkwardly.
Boom Boy – Shifted out under pressure in the home straight.
Following the running of this event the track was upgraded to a Soft 5.
Race 3 – Woodroffe Hotel | Colts, Geldings & Entires Maiden Handicap | 1300m
Knuckle Up – Began awkwardly. Hampered and lost ground when tightened for room a short distance later. Near the 1000m was steadied when tightened for room by Lucadeal, which was taken in by Tabard, which shifted in and away from Greyt Intentions.
Irish Slipper – Began awkwardly.
Lucadeal – Near the 1200m was eased when placed in restricted room, after which was restrained further in an effort to obtain cover.
Askari – Approaching the 400m was momentarily eased when attempting a narrow run to the outside of Super Kids.
San Pierre – Shifted out under pressure over the final 200m. When questioned Jockey R. Plumb stated that he had not been instructed to lead today however, after beginning well from a wide barrier he elected to press forward to obtain a position closer to the fence, which resulted in the gelding leading. Trainer A. Plumb confirmed that the instructions were for the gelding to race in a midfield position with cover if circumstances permitted.
Monte Santo – Leaving the 400m was bumped by Sir Husson. Near the 50m checked to avoid the heels of San Pierre, which shifted out.
Hocked – Shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages.
Greyt Intentions – Raced wide throughout.
Jockey R. Plumb (San Pierre) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR137(a) in that over the final 100m he permitted his mount to shift out whilst being ridden along and when insufficiently clear of Monte Santo, resulting in Monte Santo having to be restrained near the 50m to avoid the heels of San Pierre, which continued to shift out. Jockey Plumb’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of ten (10) days to commence midnight 16 February 2019 to expire midnight 26 February 2019.
Race 4 – Happy Chinese New Year | Fillies & Mares Maiden Handicap | 1300m
Firande – Slow to begin. Jockey R. Plumb reported that the filly failed to travel comfortably at any stage of the event and as such after failing to maintain contact with the remainder of the field despite his efforts during the middle stages, he elected to ease the filly down passing the 500m. Underwent a post race veterinary examination which revealed no abnormalities. Trainer C. Munce reported that following today’s performance he would discuss the filly’s immediate racing future with connections. Nonetheless Mr Munce was advised that the filly must trial competitively prior to racing again.
The Actress – Slow to begin. Bumped near the 500m.
Remember Bella – Began awkwardly and was then bumped by Kaffka. Bumped upon straightening.
Kaffka – Began awkwardly and bumped at the start. Underwent a post race veterinary examination which revealed no abnormalities.  Trainer H.  Page noted that the mare was having its first start for her stable. Mrs Page indicated that following today’s performance she would drop the mare back in distance and attempt to have it ridden with cover.
Good Time Girl – Bumped at the start. In the early stages of the home straight was held up on the heels of Kaffka, which was weakening
Judge Judy – Began awkwardly and was bumped.
De Belle Of Cannes – Leaving the 1000m was steadied when placed in restricted room to the inside of Lunafreya.
Del Vega – Held up rounding the home turn.
Lunafreya – Held up in the early stages of the home straight.
Race 5 – Jasmine Room | Fillies & Mares Class 1 Handicap | 1400m
Lola’s Diamond – Stood flatfooted at the start.
Delaney’s Desire – Slow to begin. Held up rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight.
Fille Gris – Slow to begin.
Wicked Mama – Began awkwardly.
Mystic Brook – Near the 900m was steadied when tightened for room by Wicked Mama, which shifted in. Jockey M. Nakao (Wicked Mama) was severely reprimanded for this incident. Cast a near fore plate in running. Underwent a post race veterinary examination which revealed no abnormalities.
Sultry Testa – Leaving the 500m was taken wider on the track.
Daisy’s Apart – Held up rounding the home turn.
The Last Sequalo – Held up rounding the home turn. Then had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early stages of the home straight.
Jockey G. Colless (Lola’s Diamond) was fined $100 for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m.
App S. Lacey (Paradiso Girl) will be reprimanded for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m.
Race 6 – Mermaid Junction Medical Centre | Class 3 Handicap | 1400m
Lefkas Island – Hung out rounding the home turn.
Fish On – Began awkwardly and bumped at the start. A short distance later was inconvenienced by Captivator, which shifted out marginally.
Beach Drum – Began awkwardly and bumped at the start. A short distance later was hampered and had to be steadied when tightened for room.
Wack ‘Em – Overraced in the early stages.
Nelumbo – Overraced in the early stages and as a result shifted out leaving the 900m and raced three wide without cover for the remainder of the event.
Captivator – Leaving the 800m was steadied from heels. Laid in over the final 300m.
 
 
Race 7 – Aquis Chinese Jockey Club | BenchMark 70 Handicap | 1800m
Silom Road – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout. Underwent a post race veterinary examination and was found to be lame in the near fore leg and had sustained a laceration to the off fore leg consistent with being galloped on. Trainer S. Lee was advised that a veterinary clearance will be required prior to the gelding racing again.
Meteorologist – Slow to begin.
Catch Me Latar – Approaching the 200m was held up and obliged to shift back in to secure clear running.
Underground – Near the 200m was eased when tightened for room between Airlie Man and Catch Me Latar, both of which shifted ground.
House Of Drama – Raced wide throughout.
Holbrook – Raced wide without cover.
Jockey A. Spinks (Catch Me Latar) was reprimanded for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m.
Jockey B. Thornton (Gun Bolt) was reprimanded for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m.
Race 8 – JSY Capital | Colts, Geldings & Entires Class 1 Handicap | 1400m
Amuthon – Slow to begin.
Kruger – Blundered at the start.
Gwapo – Began awkwardly.
Steelz Time – Hampered at the start.
The Irons – Held up approaching and rounding the home turn.
Chinchinbilla – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Raced wide without cover throughout.
