OFFICIALS

G. Colless was fined the sum of $300 under AR111(4) for failing to provide a medical clearance prior to fulfilling his riding engagements at Ballina on Monday, 8 April.

Race 1: TRADELINK BATHROOM, KITCHEN & LAUNDRY CLASS 4 PLATE – 900M

STAR OF HARADA – Bumped at the start.

BOOM CHICKA BOOM – Began very awkwardly, shifted out and bumped REINDEER MOON.

SAXOPHONE – Inconvenienced at the start when tightened for room.

VOUCH FOR ME – Began very awkwardly and bumped STAR OF HARADA.

REINDEER MOON – Checked at the start and lost ground when tightened for room between SAXOPHONE and BOOM CHICKA BOOM, which shifted out after beginning awkwardly.

Race 2: TRADELINK PLUMBING SUPPLIES C,G&E MAIDEN H’CAP – 1100M

LOVE RUSH – Stood flat-footed at the start, losing ground, and then was slow to muster speed in the early stages. P. Hammersley reported that the gelding did not appreciate today’s track conditions.

REMOLAD – Began awkwardly, making contact with the nearside barrier partition, and then was slow to muster speed in the early stages.

Race 3: TRADELINK, HALGAN, GALVIN F&M MAIDEN H’CAP – 1100M

The bridle on NEW YORK LIGHTS broke during the preliminary and as a result the start of this race was delayed when a replacement bridle was fitted behind the barriers.

CREATEYOUR OWNLUCK – The mare raced without a cross-over nose band. Stewards were able to identify that the mare raced without a cross-over nose band at its last start at Coffs Harbour on 12 March 2019. Overraced in the lead in the early and middle stages. Stewards will undertake further inquiries to ascertain why the cross-over nose band was advertised.

HEY DOLL – Began awkwardly and bumped KAFFKA. G. Colless was reprimanded for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m.

MILLION – Laid in leaving the 300m.

NEW YORK LIGHTS – Reared as the start was effected and lost ground. Finished tailed off. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings. Stable foreman M. Plumb indicated that the filly would now be retired from the stable.

KAFFKA – Bumped at the start.

Race 4: TRADELINK & OLIVERI BATHROOM BENCHMARK 70 H’CAP – 1800M

BROCSON – Slow to begin.

Race 5: TRADELINK BATHROOM SPECIALIST CLASS 2 H’CAP – 1200M

Trainer W. Sutton was fined $100 for failing to declare J. Woodhouse as the rider of YOUNG AMAZON by the prescribed time.

As R. Plumb was indisposed, J. Taylor was substituted as the rider of EXCELAMOUR.

The start of this race was delayed when PONY POWER cast the off hind plate leaving the enclosure. The filly was replated behind the barriers and was cleared to start.

EXCELAMOUR – Bumped on a number of occasions in the early stages of the home straight.

IL RICCIO – Had difficulty securing clear running to the outside of MISS AMANDA upon straightening and as a consequence bumped EXCELAMOUR on a number of occasions.

OCEAN WAVES – Raced wide without cover throughout.

YOUNG AMAZON – Began awkwardly. Raced ungenerously in the early stages.

PRODUCE ME LATE – Began awkwardly.

Race 6: TRADELINK PLUMBING GOLD COAST QTIS 3YO MAIDEN PLATE – 1300M

The start of this race was delayed when SARA MAN proved difficult to load. Trainer A. Boyd was advised that a warning will be placed on the gelding’s barrier manners.

BULLANG – Bumped at the start.

HOME SCENE – Bumped at the start.

SARA MAN – Slow to begin. Overraced in the early stages.

BALERION – Bumped at the start. Forced wider by BEATRICE WAS LOVED rounding the home turn when that runner shifted out to improve. Laid in under pressure in the early stages of the home straight.

KITTY DAMOUR – M. Palmer reported that the filly failed to quicken as expected when placed under pressure rounding the home turn and raced flat today. Jockey Palmer was of the opinion that the filly may have come to the end of its current racing preparation.

MIRACLESFROMHEAVEN – Began awkwardly.

THE DEMTEL MAN – Raced wide without cover for the majority of the event. J. Taylor was reprimanded for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m.

TANTALUS – Bumped at the start.

Race 7: TRADELINK, IPEX, RHEEM, VIEGA F&M CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1400M

MUSIC – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced wide without cover for the majority of the event. Bumped by WITHOUT RISK approaching the 400m. Inconvenienced by WITHOUT RISK upon straightening when that runner shifted out. Jockey L. Dittman, the rider of WITHOUT RISK, was spoken to about his riding style rounding the home turn and advised to exercise more care in future. When questioned as to the horse’s performance, jockey Hammersley stated that the mare was unruly during the preliminary and in the barriers. He added that the mare travelled comfortably throughout the race and was quickly under pressure passing the 500m and proved disappointing. Jockey Hammersley was of the opinion that the mare may benefit from the addition of earmuffs pre-race and blinkers. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

WITHOUT RISK – Shifted out to improve approaching the 400m and bumped MUSIC.

Race 8: TRADELINK & OLIVERI C,G&E CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1400M

TESARC – Bumped at the start. L. Dittman was reprimanded for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m.

HACKSAW RIDGE – Bumped at the start. Stewards questioned stable representative L. Kelly (Jnr) regarding the tactics adopted in leading today’s event. Mr Kelly stated that the gelding had only returned to the stable prior to its last start where on that occasion the gelding began awkwardly and was obliged to race further back than anticipated. Mr Kelly noted that the gelding had previously performed well when ridden in a forward position and had been ridden in a similar manner earlier in its career.

EIRA – Hampered shortly after the start by HACKSAW RIDGE, which shifted out.

UBER MOVER – Slow to begin.

LEBRON – Began awkwardly.
