GENERAL
 
Stewards acceded to a request from trainer T. Edmonds to scratch CHURNING (Race 4) and VIRAL (Race 5) due to the track conditions. Both horses were subsequently declared late scratchings at 12.12 p.m.
 
 
Race 1 – Seafood Buffet Gallery Restaurant QTIS 2YO Handicap – 1200m
 
Trainer J. Pengilly was fined $100 for the late declaration of App C. Frater-Hill as the rider of SIDEKISS.
 
The start was delayed when SCOUT cast a near fore plate, was subsequently replated, underwent a veterinary examination and cleared to start.
 
SIDEKISS – Checked when tightened for room at the start and lost ground.
 
SCOUT – Began awkwardly and shifted out abruptly. Bumped by LYRICAL GIRL near the 300m and again near the 200m.
 
DYNAMIC VERSE – Bumped shortly after the start. Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
LYRICAL GIRL – Near the 1100m became awkward of its own accord. Shifted out under pressure in the early stages of the home straight and bumped SCOUT near the 300m and again near the 200m.
 
 
Race 2 – Membership Renew Now Maiden Plate – 1100m
 
SET TO SIZZLE – Stood flatfooted as the start was effected and lost significant ground. Trainer M. Costa was advised the gelding must trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to racing again. Mr Costa indicated that the gelding would be sent for an immediate spell.
 
TOO HARD TO CALL – Near the 500m was inconvenienced by LUCKY FIX, which shifted out.
 
 
Race 3 – TAB Maiden Plate – 1800m
 
As B. Stewart was overweight Stewards permitted J. Orman to be substituted as the rider of MANDUKHAI. Jockey Stewart was fined $200.
 
QUOTANT – Slow to begin.
 
WICKED HEIGHTS – Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped LUTECE. Leaving the 1600m commenced to overrace, steadied from the heels of ODIN’S FOLLY and shifted wider on the track. Eased down passing the 400m. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.  
 
LUTECE – Bumped at the start.
 
POWER FROM WITHIN – Hampered at the start.
 
TANTALUS – Began awkwardly and a short distance later was eased when tightened for room.
 
PACIFIC CREST – Raced wide without cover in the early stages.
 
ALLBUTBLACK – Blundered leaving the 100m.  
 
Jockey M. Du Plessis (QUOTANT) was fined $100 for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m. In determining penalty Stewards were mindful of jockey Du Plessis’ very good record.
 
 
Race 4 – Skyline Restaurant Fillies & Mares Class 3 Plate – 1200m
 
RIVER FLYER – Began awkwardly and shifted out.
 
PONY POWER – Steadied when tightened for room shortly after the start.
 
REEF KNOT – Bumped at the start. Jockey A. Allen dropped his whip near the 200m.
SKATE TO PARIS – Upon straightening was disappointed for a run to the outside of REEF KNOT and obliged to shift back to the inside of REEF KNOT to secure clear running.
 
 
Race 5 – Membership Join Now For 2019/2020 C, G & E Class 3 Plate – 1200m
 
JOHNNY WHITESOX – Fractious in the barriers.
 
RULER – Slow to begin. Laid in under pressure in the home straight and near the 150m had to be eased away from the heels of PHOBETOR.
 
 
Race 6 – TAB QTIS 3YO Maiden Plate – 1400m
 
TRUTHIZ – Began awkwardly.
 
WILCARUISE – Slow to begin.  A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off hind leg.  Trainer G. Duncan was advised that a veterinary clearance will be required prior the gelding racing again.  
 
SAN BERNARDINO – Began awkwardly.
 
REPULSE – Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
DIAMOND ACCOUNT – Raced wide throughout.
 
ADDOCARR – A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be showing signs of moderate heat stress. Due to the veterinary treatment provided to the gelding a post race sample could not be obtained.
 
 
Race 7 – TAB BenchMark 65 Handicap – 1800m
 
HEART OF TOORAK – Proved difficult to load. Slow to begin. Trainer D. Scanes was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding’s barrier manners.
 
GRAND BOUQUET – Upon straightening blundered when placed in restricted room between CUSHTY PRINCESS and COURT’S STAR, which was weakening.
 
CUSHTY PRINCESS - Lost an off fore plate in running.
 
 
Race 8 – TAB BenchMark 65 Handicap – 1800m
 
SPANISH HURRICANE – Slow to begin. Overraced in the early and middle stages and as a consequence raced wide throughout.
 
SHELTER LADY – Leaving the 1600m was taken wider on the track.
 
 
 
 
WINDERMERE – Raced wide without cover in the early and middle stages before obtaining a position outside the leader near the 1000m. A post race veterinary examination revealed the filly had suffered a bleeding attack during the event. Trainer T. Edmonds was advised that the filly will now incur a mandatory three month ban from racing and must complete a 1000m gallop prior to racing again.
 
MR DUMONT – Upon straightening was inconvenienced by WINDERMERE, which shifted in.
 
Jockey J. Bowditch (MAHIS ANGEL) was reprimanded for the use of his whip prior to the 100m.
 
 
Race 9 – TAB BenchMark 65 Handicap – 1400m
 
Trainer G. Duncan was fined $100 for the late declaration of App S. Lacy as the rider of JACKPOT.
 
LEFKAS ISLAND – Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped BLOOMING TYCOON. Overraced in the early stages.
 
BLOOMING TYCOON – Began awkwardly and was then bumped by LEFKAS ISLAND. Near the 250m blundered and shifted in.
 
GREAT POWERS – Slow to begin.
 
JACKPOT – Approaching the 200m was inconvenienced by BLOOMING TYCOON, which shifted in.
