GENERAL
 
As Jockey P. Hammersley was indisposed due to injury, rider replacements were made as per Stewards Race Day Summary.
 
As Jockey G. Colless was indisposed due to illness, rider replacements were made as per Stewards Race Day Summary.
 
 
Race 1 – TAB BenchMark 62 Handicap – 900m
 
Correct weight was delayed when App. C. Frater-Hill exercised her right to view the photo finish. Once satisfied with the placings, correct weight was declared.
 
Nobbys Gift – Raced without blinkers in contrast to some publications.
 
Tabrobane – Slow into stride.
 
Lips N Hips – Inclined to lay out rounding the home turn.
 
Sylvester – When asked to comment on todays performance, Jockey A. Allen was of the opinion that the colt did not appreciate todays racing surface. Performed below market expectations. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
 
 
Race 2 – Canadian Club QTIS 3YO Handicap - 900m
 
Lady McCabe – Inclined to hang in for the first 500m. Shifted up the track when placed under heavy pressure near the 250m making contact with Archers Paradox. Brushed near the 100m.
 
Archers Paradox – Rider dropped his whip near the 350m. Inclined to hang in over the final 200m. Shifted in near the 100m and brushed Lady McCabe.
 
After the running of this race, the track was upgraded to a Soft 7.
 
 
Race 3 – Cascade QTIS 2YO Maiden Handicap – 1200m
 
Cabochon Lil – Slowly into stride and lost several lengths.
 
Flick – Bumped shortly after the start and raced greenly at that point. Near the 800m, was checked when tightened for room by Rothenburg which shifted in. Stewards when assessing the incident were of the view that whilst Rothenburg had improved at an acute angle to the inside of Genzai The Wolf, the racing characteristics of Flick also contributed to the interference and noted the incident. Near the 500m when racing greenly, shifted in making contact with the rail.
 
Who Said So – Bumped shortly after the start. Leaving the 800m, checked and forced wider on the track by Flick.
 
Business As Usual – Near the 800m, forced wider on the track by Flick.
 
Genzai The Wolf – Near the 800m, obliged to steady from heels when restraining to obtain cover.
 
Rothenburg – While over-racing near the 800m, improved quickly to the inside of Genzai The Wolf, was steadied, shifted in and tightened the running of Flick.
 
Picton – Inclined to lay in rounding the home turn.
 
Phionaix – Shifted out under pressure in the run to the finish.
 
 
Race 4 – Mount Franklin F&M Maiden Handicap – 1400m
 
Acting on veterinary advice, Fillysophycl was a late scratching at 10.03 am.
 
The Last Road – Began awkwardly and shifted out. Obliged to steady from the heels of Duvessa near the 1100m. Put in an awkward stride near the 250m.
 
Santarene – On jumping, shifted in.
 
Fast Eva – Tightened between The Last Road and Santarene on jumping and was obliged to settle further back than intended. When asked to comment regarding the performance, Jockey L. Ditman felt the filly failed to respond under hard riding from the 500m and proved disappointing and in his view would be looking at distances greater than todays 1400m.
 
Duvessa – Shifted in near the 1200m momentarily tightening The Last Road which was racing to its inside and again when over-racing, shifted in near the 1100m tightening the racing room of The Last Road. Bumped near the 300m.
 
Creative Moss – Shifted out under hard riding near the 300m.
 
Drops of Jupiter – Hung out under pressure over the final 300m.
 
Manhattanite – Jockey A Spinks reported that the mare did not feel comfortable with todays track conditions.
 
 
Race 5 – Jim Beam C,G & E Maiden Handicap – 1400m
 
Shining Blue – Raced 3 wide throughout.
 
Remolad – Obliged to steady from the heels of Succeedandconquer rounding the home turn.
 
Therenback – Shifted in under hard riding near the 250m making heavy contact with Phoenix Shadow.
 
Phoenix Shadow – Bumped heavily near the 250m. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which determined the gelding pulled up in a distressed state. Connections were advised that a veterinary certificate would be required prior to the gelding resuming racing.
 
Succeedandconquer – Rider dropped his whip near the 200m.
 
Jockey A. Allen (Daramer) was reprimanded for excessive use of the whip.
 
 
Race 6 – Mount Franklin Lightly Sparkling Class 5 Plate – 1200m
 
Comic Story – Hung in significantly over the final 350m and proved difficult to ride.
 
Felino Bel – Obliged to steady from the heels of Comic Story near the 250m before easing wider to commence a run.
 
Enterprise March – Performed below market expectations and was sent for a post-race veterinary examination which revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
Wild N Famous – Jockey R. Plumb reported that his mount felt awkward in its action and was sent for a post-race veterinary examination. The gelding was found to be suffering from cardiac arrhythmia. Connections were advised that the gelding would require an ECG, veterinary certificate and trial prior to the resumption of racing.
 
 
Race 7 – Makers Mark Class 4 Handicap 1400m
 
Lawan – Slow into stride. Held up for clear running approaching the home turn.
 
Smart as Attack – Raced wide early before reaching a position outside the leader near the 700m.
 
Danzie – Raced 3 wide throughout.
 
Evopex – Made the home turn very wide before improving and shifting wider near the 300m and then under hard riding shifted in noticeably near the 150m and proved difficult to ride.
 
Dynastic – Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed the gelding to be sore in both front feet. Connections were advised that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to the resumption of racing.
 
After the running of this race, the track was upgraded to a Soft 6.
 
 
Race 8 – Coca-Cola BenchMark 65 Handicap – 1200m
 
Wills Bid – Over-raced early and was obliged to steady from the heels of Ajani near the 700m. Improved onto the heels of Round Mountain Gem near the 50m and was obliged to steady.
 
Captivated – Raced 3 wide throughout.
 
Seentoomany - Raced 3 wide throughout.
 
Ajani – Near the 350m disappointed for a run to the inside of They Call Me Rose when that runner shifted in and was obliged to steady as a result of the incident.
 
They Call Me Rose – Shifted in under hard riding near the 250m tightening the rightful running of Ajani. App. J Murphy was issued with a severe reprimand for carelessness under Rule AR131(a).
 
Coulthard – Inclined to lay in up the straight and then approaching the 200m was obliged to steady and come away from the heels of Few Too Many which shifted up the track marginally.
 
Legal Counsel – Hung in and was obliged to steady from the heels of Wills Bid near the 50m.
