CHILL THE BEER – Hung out rounding the home turn. Race 2 – Hume Doors and Timber Maiden Plate – 900m As NERINAhas not raced for over 12 months, the filly underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Some publications had the filly racing in ear muffs which was incorrect. Public announcements were made to notify of this discrepancy which was not a gear change. The start was delayed when both ZARAFET and PURPLE TRUMPET proved difficult to load. Correct weight was delayed to allow stewards and connections of NERINA to view the footage of the start to ascertain if that filly was denied a fair start. After viewing the footage stewards were satisfied that NERINA reared simultaneously as the start was effected dislodging Jockey N. Day. Stewards determined that other than for NERINAs own actions, the filly was afforded every opportunity to jump away with the field and therefore declared the filly a runner. Trainer J. Phelan was advised that NERINA would require a further barrier certificate prior to racing again. NERINA – As the start was effected, reared and became unbalanced dislodging its rider. Jockey N. Day was examined by Queensland Ambulance Service personnel which revealed him to have suffered an injury to his right knee and on medical advice was stood down from his remaining engagements.
