GENERAL
 
After receiving 3mm of rain after the scratching deadline and prior to 10.15 a.m. Stewards then inspected the track at 10.30 a.m. and deemed it safe and suitable for racing.
 
Race 1 – QPF FINANCE QTIS 2YO Class 1 Plate – 1100m
 
GANDIVA – Began awkwardly.
 
CHAMPAGNE JET – Began awkwardly and was bumped on jumping.
 
ENSENADA - Began awkwardly and was bumped on jumping.
 
 
Race 2 – LEA INSURANCE BROKERS Class 5 Plate – 1300m
 
NORDIC SHOW – Slow to begin.
 
AJANI – Laid out under pressure in the early part of the home straight.
 
FOXY HOUSEWIFE – Slightly inconvenienced and shifted wider on the track after passing the 300m by AJANI, which laid out. At the request of jockey L. Dittman a post race veterinary examination of the mare failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
Race 3 – PACIFIC PETROLEUM Class 1 Plate – 2200m
 
KOLSTAR – Bumped and inconvenienced shortly after the start. Jockey S. Galloway reported that in his opinion the filly failed to handle today’s heavy track conditions.
 
MISSY MUSKETEER – Bumped and inconvenienced shortly after the start.
 
CHIEF COMMAND – Jockey A. Fancourt reported that the gelding was inclined to lay in for the majority of the event.
 
 
Race 4 – UD TRUCKS GOLD COAST QTIS 3YO Handicap – 1800m
 
FLIRTY MCCOY – In the middle stages when the pace steadied began to overrace and got its head up on a number of occasions when being restrained.
 
GENOA – Raced keenly in the middle stages.
 
 
Race 5 – TUTTS BRYANT EQUIPMENT Maiden Plate – 1200m
 
ROCKET ROYALE was declared a late scratching at 7.55 a.m. acting on veterinary advice. Co-trainer B. Guy was advised that the filly will require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again.
 
Co-Trainer B. Guy was fined $100 for the late declaration of R. Plumb as the rider of TELECOM DANEWIN.

Trainer J. Wilson was fined $100 for the late declaration of App J. Hodge as the rider of COLLISION.
 
TELECOM DANEWIN – As the gelding had not raced for over twelve months it underwent a veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
PRINCESS MONA – After being caught wide early was restrained to a rearward position in an attempt to gain a position closer to the rail.
 
MERLIN’S MAGIC – Passing the 700m improved onto heels and had to be restrained.
 
 
Race 6 – GCI GROUP QTIS 3YO Class 1 Plate – 900m
 
COURAGEOUS CHLOE – Slow to begin.
 
VAINITY – Began awkwardly. Raced four wide without cover throughout.
 
IN HER ZONE – Began awkwardly.
 
QUANYIN – Laid out under pressure over the final 200m.
 
PIPE DREAM LASS – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
ELIXIR – Raced wide with cover throughout.
 
 
Race 7 – SCI FLEET HINO Class 3 Handicap – 1800m
 
VENI VIDI VICI – Slow to begin. After racing in a rearward position in the early and middle stages commenced to overrace passing the 1200m and was unable to be restrained in that position. The rider then elected near the 900m to shift wider on the track and improve eventually taking up a position in the lead passing the 800m.
 
TOBACCO ROAD – After racing in a rearward position commenced to lose ground passing the 600m and finished a distant last. When asked to explain the performance jockey S. Galloway stated that the gelding travelled reasonably until a point passing the 800m when the tempo quickened and from that point on floundered in the going, failed to respond to his riding and proved disappointing. A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
 
 
Race 8 – COASTAL TIPPER HIRE Ratings Band 0-65 Handicap – 1400m
 
The start was delayed when LA RENARDE after refusing to load. LA RENARDE was declared a late scratching by order of Stewards at 4.15pm. All monies invested on LA RENARDE were ordered to be refunded. Deductions applicable to bets placed on winner and place-getters prior to 4.15 pm:-
 
10 cent in the dollar for the Win #15 (REMOLAD)
13 cent in the dollar for the place of winner #15 (REMOLAD)
10 cent in the dollar the 2nd place #13 (WACK’EM)
12 cent in the dollar for the 3rd place #1 (ADDICTED)
 
The stable representative for trainer M. Costa was advised that the mare must obtain a further barrier certificate prior to racing again.  
 
GOLD SUN – Began awkwardly.
 
REMOLAD – Began awkwardly. Shortly after the start raced in restricted room when ANNIHILATION shifted in. Approaching the 200m raced in restricted room for a short distance. Raced three wide with cover throughout.
 
LADY MICAELA – Slow to begin. Laid in under pressure approaching the 200m.
 
KIJITO – Approaching the 900m raced in restricted room and was then bumped and steadied when tightened by ANNIHILATION, which was taken in by ADDICTED. Shortly after KIJITO  shifted in of its own accord and became awkwardly placed at the heels of HEART OF AUSTRALIA. App A. Thompson (ANNIHILATION) was advised to exercise greater care when shifting ground in similar circumstances.
 
ANNIHILATION – Approaching the 900m became awkwardly placed at the heels of HEART OF AUSTRALIA and shifted in. Raced three wide with cover after passing the 800m.
 
COULTHARD – Passing the 900m steadied from the heels of KIJITO, then shortly after shifted out and had to be restrained when awkwardly placed at the heels of ANNIHILATION.
 
ADDICTED – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
App N. Keal (ADDICTED) was reprimanded for failing to ride his mount out to the winning post.
