QUEENSLAND RACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION Race Day Stewards Report Aquis Thoroughbreds Date: Saturday 9 November 2019 Track: Good 4 (Races 1-2) Good 3 (Races 3 -8) Weather: Fine Rail: Out 3m 1400-1000, 4.5m 1000-400, 3m 400-W/Post, 1.5m Remainder Penetrometer: 4.46 Stewards Panel: N. Boyle (Chairman), K. Daly, B. Connell, P. Reardon Officials: Dr G. Silvestri (Veterinarian), J. Robinson (Clerk of Scales), S. McMahon (Judge), S. Andrews, K. Watson (Starters), K. Kilpatrick, K. Warwick (Swab Officials), S. Rolls (Secretary) GENERAL As L. Dittman was indisposed due to injury Stewards permitted rider changes as per the Stewards Race Day Summary. After the running of race 2 a number of Jockeys raised concerns with a section of the track approaching the 800m on the fence that they felt was softer than the rest of the track. After an inspection by Stewards, Gold Coast Track staff and a delegation of Jockeys it was deemed unsafe. Stewards then directed the Gold Coast Track Manager to move the rail out around the affected area to avoid that section of the track for the remaining events. This was completed after the running of race 3, as race 3 was started from the 900m chute and the affected area did not have an impact on this race. Following the running of race 3 after the rail had been shifted Stewards and a delegation of Jockeys inspected the area, however further concerns were raised that the rail had not been moved out far enough. At a subsequent meeting between Stewards, Gold Coast Turf Club officials and Jockeys it was agreed that the rail be moved out further over a longer distance. After this work had been completed Stewards and a delegation of Jockeys again inspected the area and deemed it safe to continue racing. Due to the time taken for the rail to be moved the remaining race times were amended as follows:- Race 4. 2.38 p.m.Race 5. 3.20 p.m.Race 6. 4.03 p.m.Race 7. 4.50 p.m.Race 8. 5.25 p.m. Race 1 – Rosie’s – Friends On The Street Maiden Plate – 1200m MALEEKA BLUES – Fractious in the gates and reared on a number of occasions prior to the start being effected.
