GENERAL
 
Track rider Daniel Small pleaded guilty to a charge under AR113 in that on 3 March 2020 he took video footage with his mobile telephone when riding trackwork at the Gold Coast Turf Club. Mr Small was fined $200.
 
As Jockey R. Stewart was indisposed due to injury Stewards permitted rider replacements as per Stewards Race Day Summary.
 
 
Race 1 – Mount FranklinRANKLIN Class 4 Plate (Restricted) – 1300m
 
DOUBLE EM – Refused to jump and took no part in the race. Trainer T. Cook was advised that the mare would have to obtain a further barrier certificate prior to being permitted to race again.
 
VENI VIDI VICI – Slow to begin. Overraced when racing three wide with cover throughout.
 
STRAWBERRY BLONDE – Slow to begin. Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
PERFECT AIM – For some distance passing the 250m App A. Thompson lost the use of his near side rein for a short distance.
 
Following the running of this event the track was upgraded to a Heavy 8.
 
 
Race 2 – SUNSHINE COAST SCORCHERS Colts, Geldings & Entires Benchmark 72 Handicap – 1200m
 
Upon arrival at the barriers SUPERSONIC BOOM was examined by the veterinary surgeon at the request of the rider M. Cahill. SUPERSONIC BOOM was found to be lame in the near fore leg and subsequently declared at late scratching at 1.08 p.m. All monies invested on SUPERSONIC BOOM were ordered to be refunded. Deductions applicable to bets placed on the winner and place-getters prior to 1.08 p.m.:-
 
4 cents in the dollar for a win #13 (MOTION GRANTED)
7 cents in the dollar for the place of winner #13 (MOTION GRANTED)
6 cents in the dollar for the 2nd place #3 (FUJI FLYER)
4 cents in the dollar for the 3rd place #10 (MAGIC FOX)
 
Trainer R. Lipp was advised that a veterinary certificate must be provided prior to the gelding being permitted to race again.
 
UMBERTO – Slow to begin.
 
FUJI FLYER – Passing the 800m commenced to overrace and was shifted out from the heels of FLAME OF LIBERTY and raced three wide without cover for the remainder of the event.
 
OUR TOP SHELF – After passing the 600m had to be eased to avoid the heels of ALL PLUCK. Held up and unable to improve between the 250m and 150m when awkwardly placed on heels.
 
Jockey B. Stewart (KEEP ON LOVING YOU) was fined $200 for failing to ride his mount out to the finish line.
 
 
Race 3 – Jim Beam Fillies & Mares Benchmark 72 Handicap – 1200m
 
Trainer S. Morrisey was fined $200 for the late declaration of M. Hellyer as the rider of SHIJIN.
 
As App A. Thompson was dually engaged in this event Stewards permitted App Z. White to be substituted as the rider of MISS BENETEAU. App Thompson was fined $200 for failing to fulfil this riding engagement when dually engaged.
 
As Jockey M. McGillivray was dually engaged in this event Stewards permitted Jockey L. Tilley to be substituted as the rider of MOLLY’S ROCKING. Jockey McGillivray was fined $200 for failing to fulfil this riding engagement when dually engaged.
 
RED STINA – Stood flatfooted and lost ground at the start.
 
MISS BENETEAU – Slow to begin.
 
TRAIL OF GLORY – Slow to begin.
 
MOLLY’S ROCKING – Bumped heavily and placed in restricted room near the 1100m.
 
HELFUCHI – Near the 1100m bumped with MOLLY’S ROCKING and was inclined to shift in away from JARDIN ROUGE, which also shifted in at that point.
 
JARDIN ROUGE – Shifted in near the 1100m despite the efforts of its rider App J. Murphy.
 
YEAHNAH – After passing the 1000m had to be restrained to avoid the heels of MOONSHINE LADY. Raced three wide early before being ridden forward to race outside the leader near the 800m.
 
KITTY DAMOUR – Passing the 1000m had to be checked severely when forced across the heels of JINX ‘N’ DRINX.
 
WRITTEN WITH EASE – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
SHIJIN – Raced four wide without cover throughout.
 
MYSTIC MIST – Raced three wide with cover throughout.
 
 
Race 4 – Carbine Club Gold Coast Stakes – 1800m
 
MONGOLIAN WOLF – Slow to begin.
 
AKAGE – Slow to begin.
 
MR GARCIA – In the early part of the home straight was held up and unable to improve when awkwardly placed at the heels of BODEGA NEGRA.
 
HALLELUJAH BOY – Jockey R. Wiggins reported that the gelding did not feel entirely comfortable in its action in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities other than a short striding gait in front.
 
HIGH DEGREE – Cast its near fore plate in running.
 
Following the running of this event the track was upgraded to a Soft 7.
 
 
Race 5 – AQUIS QTIS Jewel 2YO – 1200m
 
REAL FINE WINE – Slow to begin. Hampered soon afterwards when SPIRIT ONE, shifted out.
 
BOOM SPENDER – Hampered at the start when tightened for room. Raced three wide with cover throughout.
 
SAFEWORK - Hampered at the start when tightened for room.
 
KISUKANO – Jumped away awkwardly, shifted out and bumped BOOMNOVA.
 
BOOMNOVA – Bumped heavily at the start. Eased passing the 900m to allow ROTHFIRE to cross to the lead.
 
ROTHFIRE – Began awkwardly and shifted in.
 
SPIRIT ONE – Began very awkwardly and lost ground. Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
HANCORA FIELD – Passing the 900m was checked off the heels of BOOMNOVA, when that runner was eased.
 
MISHANI FRAUDSTER – Raced three wide with cover throughout.
 
 
Race 6 – Canadian Club & Dry Open Handicap – 900m
 
SPURCRAFT – Fractious in the barriers prior to the start being effected. Bumped approaching the 600m. Raced four wide without cover throughout.
 
RINGO’S A ROCKSTAR – Blundered on jumping. Near the 500m when overracing shifted out from the heels of TRUCULENT. This resulted in BOOMWAA, BOLD XAVVI, SPURCRAFT and TYCOON ACE all being forced wider.
 
REMOVAL – After passing the 700m commenced to overrace and became awkwardly placed at the heels of BOLD XAVVI and had to be restrained. Near the 600m when overracing had to be eased from the heels of BOLD XAVVI.
 
TYCOON ACE – Bumped approaching the 600m. Raced five wide without cover throughout.
 
BOLD XAVVI – Raced three wide with cover throughout.
 
USMANOV – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
App B. Nothdurft (USMANOV) was fined $300 for returning to scale overweight.
 
 
Race 7 – TAB QTIS Jewel 3YO – 1200m
 
GINGER ROCK – Slow to begin.
 
REPLICATION – Near the 1100m raced ungenerously when being restrained.
 
THE SINNER – Near the 1000m had to be eased to avoid the heels of GETYOURGREYON.
 
GETYOURGREYON – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
EASY COME – Raced three wide with cover throughout.
 
GEM OF SCOTLAND – Jockey J. Orman stated that the filly never travelled well throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly suffered an injury to its off hind leg and was transported to a veterinary clinic for further examination. Trainer R. Lipp was advised that a veterinary certificate must be provided prior to the filly racing again.  
 
 
Race 8 – TAB Goldmarket (Listed) – 1300m
 
MALAHIDE struck the gate on the way out of the enclosure and was then kicked by another runner behind the barriers. After being examined by the veterinary surgeon on arrival at the barriers, which revealed the mare had sustained a laceration to the off hind stifle. MALAHIDE was subsequently declared at late scratching at 4.58 p.m. All monies invested on MALAHIDE were ordered to be refunded. Deductions applicable to bets placed on the winner and place-getters prior to 4.58 p.m.:-
 
 9 cents in the dollar for a win #5 (SNITCH)
12 cents in the dollar for the place of winner #5 (SNITCH)
7 cents in the dollar for the 2nd place #10 (GREY MISSILE)

Trainer M. Costa was advised that a veterinary certificate must be provided prior to the mare racing again.
 
INVINCIBLE AL – Overraced in the early stages.
 
GREY MISSILE – Raced wide in the early stages and allowed to stride forward to race outside the leader near the 800m.
 
TOP STRIKER – Steadied from heels near the 700m. Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
MANAYA – Raced in restricted room near the 700m when racing between CHAPTER AND VERSE and SHAUQUIN, which shifted in slightly. SHAUQUIN was then corrected by its rider and shifted out slightly.
 
SNITCH – Shifted out under pressure inside the 200m.
 
OINK – Hampered  near the 200m.
 
SHAUQUIN – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
FREDDIE FOX TROT – Raced four wide without cover throughout.
 
 
Race 9 – Coca-Cola Class 6 Plate – 1400m
 
RED CHASE which was kicked by another horse behind the barrier underwent a veterinary examination and was declared at late scratching at 5.35 p.m. All monies invested on RED CHASE were ordered to be refunded. Deductions applicable to bets placed on the winner and place-getters prior to 5.35 p.m.:-

THE TAX ACCOUNTANT – Hampered at the start when tightened for room.
 
LOSE THE SNIP – Had to be steadied when attempting to improve to the inside of SISTER PATTI where there was insufficient room.Held up rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight.
 
TAILLEVENT – Improved onto heels near the 500m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have injured its off fore tendon. Trainer B. Hill was advised a veterinary certificate must be provided prior to the gelding racing again.
 
TOKORIKI LAD – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
