Steadied from heels near the 1500m. HOSTWIN SUNLIGHT – Had a tendency to overrace in the early and middle stages. OUR RED JET – Shifted inwards on jumping tightening runners to its inside. Raced wide in the early and middle stages. Shifted in near the 900m crowding another runner.PACQUOLA – Forced inwards on jumping by another runner tightening a runner to its inside. Clipped heels near the 1500m and blundered. ROYAL GEORGE – Bumped heavily by another runner on jumping and shifted in inconveniencing another runner. Momentarily crowded for room near the 900m. GAMMA – After being initially slow to begin was inconvenienced by another runner, which shifted in. Jockey W. O’Connell (OUR RED JET) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a) in that approaching the 1500m he failed to make sufficient effort to prevent his mount from shifting in resulting in PACQUOLA clipping the heels of OUR RED JET and blundering. Jockey O’Connell’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of seven (7) days to commence midnight 9 April 2020 and expire midnight 16 April 2020. In considering penalty Stewards took into account Jockey O’Connell’s guilty plea and acknowledgement of a very minor shift outwards from ROYAL GEORGE. Race 2 – TAB Maiden Plate – 1800mSHIMMER LAKE – Shifted its off hind plate leaving the tie-up stalls having to be replated, was examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to start. Began awkwardly. ENCHANTINGLY – Shifted out at the start making contact with another runner. Raced wide in the early stages. INFLUENCER – Bumped by another runner on jumping and became unbalanced. MULHOLLAND MAN – Momentarily held up for clear running approaching the 500m. COMMENTATOR – Raced three wide without cover for the majority of the race. Race 3 – AQUIS QTIS 2YO Handicap – 1300mJABALIC – Began awkwardly. DOCTOR JACK – Began awkwardly. Raced ungenerously in the early stages throwing its head in the air for some distance. Had a tendency to lay out leaving the 600m. Raced wide for the majority of the race. Lost the near fore plate during running. REDENZO GAL – Laid out under pressure near the 200m having to be corrected. IN ORDER – Raced wide for the majority of the race. Race 4 – TAB Benchmark 90 Handicap – 2200mLE JUGE – Overraced in the early and middle stages. RAQEEQ – Raced wide in the early stages. Race 5 – AQUIS Maiden Plate – 1400mVENTURES SIGHT – Trainer B. Robinson advised the intention would be to settle the mare in a midfield position if circumstances permit. The mare was ridden accordingly. PILOTE – Fractious in the barriers prior to the start, was examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to race. Crowded for room near the 1000m and had to be steadied. Had difficulty obtaining clear running approaching the 400m and again near the 250m. EMPIRE DAY – Slow to begin. VEENA – Slow to begin. MISS GEM – Began awkwardly. THRUM – Shifted in near the 1000m when racing ungenerously crowding another runner. Raced wide for the majority of the race. COMPLIANCE – Raced wide for the majority of the race. Race 6 – TAB Benchmark 78 Handicap – 900mStewards accepted the explanation tendered by S. Galloway as to his dual engagement in this race. SUKWHINDER – Began awkwardly. Raced three wide without cover for the majority of the race. ICE FROST – Raced wide for the majority of the race. PAPA JO – Raced four wide without cover for the majority of the race. MINI MELD – On returning to scale a post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have bled from both nostrils during the event. Connections were advised the gelding will now incur a mandatory three month ban from racing under the provisions of AR79(4) and must complete a 1000m gallop to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to being permitted to race again. CALZINI – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have sustained an abrasion to its off fore fetlock. Race 7 – AQUIS Benchmark 72 Handicap – 1800mStewards accepted the explanation as to the reason why M. Cahill was replaced by N. Tomizawa as the rider of SIR HUSSON. SIR HUSSON – Slow to begin. ROMAKASH – Restrained and shifted wider near the 1500m to avoid heels. MISS SHANTI – Had to be restrained and lost ground near the 1500m when tightened for room. Jockey J. Guthmann-Chester (LA PULGA ) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a) in that near the 1500m he permitted his mount to shift in when not fully clear of HUSSON’S PRIDE, which when restrained shifted in tightening the running of MISS SHANTI , which had to be restrained and lose its rightful running. Jockey Guthmann-Chester’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of seven (7) days to commence midnight 17 April 2020 and expire midnight 24 April 2020. In assessing penalty Stewards took into account Jockey Guthmann-Chester’s guilty plea and forthright evidence throughout the inquiry. Race 8 – TAB QTIS 3YO Handicap – 1200mSCOUT – At the request of its rider the gelding underwent a veterinary examination behind the barriers and was cleared to start. Tightened for room on jumping. Lost its off hind plate during running. MAOZI – Slow to begin. THE DARK – Slow to begin. SISTER KATHLEEN – Slow to begin. FISTICUFFS – Shifted out on jumping tightening runners to its outside. BARODA – Shifted in on jumping tightening runners to its inside. SECONDOFMAY – Tightened for room on jumping. HALLSIDE HOT STUFF – Shifted out on jumping making contact with another runner. Bumped on the hind quarters near the 1100m and became unbalanced. Raced wide for the majority of the race. Lost the near hind plate during running. BEFANA – Bumped by another runner on jumping. Raced ungenerously when being restrained in the early stages throwing its head in the air and shifting in near the 1100m bumping another runner on its hind quarters. Raced wide for the majority of the race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to have a poor post-race recovery. XANTHUS – Lost its off fore plate during running. Race 9 – AQUIS Class 6 Plate – 1200mTHE PINES – Slow to begin. PRECIPITATE – Slow to begin. MOUNTBATTEN – Began awkwardly. FUJI FLYER – Raced in restricted room for a short distance leaving the 1100m. Momentarily steadied leaving the 200m when crowded for room. DITMAS – Shifted out near the 1100m placing another runner in restricted room. MANIAS – Shifted in near the 1100m placing another runner in restricted room. The saddle of Jockey L. Dittman shifted back leaving the 700m placing him at a disadvantage. Had to be steadied away from heels near the 200m by another runner, which shifted out. FIRSTHAND – Shifted out to obtain clear running leaving the 200m hampering another runner. Jockey G. Colless was reprimanded and advised to show greater care in similar circumstances. ASHMAN – Had to be steadied away from the heels of another runner, which shifted out near the 200m. TARDIS – Shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages. Race 10 – TAB Benchmark 85 Handicap – 1400mMR BELLAGIO – Examined by the veterinary surgeon behind the barriers and was cleared to race. AKAGE – The start was delayed when the mare was reluctant to proceed to the barriers. Trainer B. Crowley was advised that the mare must trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to being permitted to race again. Raced ungenerously in the early stages. SHAUQUIN – Slow to begin. RED STINA – Slow to begin. DESMON’S PRIDE – Slow to begin. PRIORITISE – Hung in for the majority of the race proving difficult to ride and as result went to the line without being fully tested. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Trainer S. Tregea was advised that the gelding may be suited with a more senior rider going forward. BEL BURGESS – A post-race veterinary examination revealed lameness in the off fore leg. Trainer G. Baker was advised that he must provide a veterinary clearance prior to the gelding being permitted to race again.
