WatsonStewards Secretary – L. Stokes Race 1: Jenny Crowley Class 1 Handicap – 1800m SPARTAN – Made the 1600m crossing awkwardly, shifting wider and raced wide until near the 1000m. Shifted in near the 1100m crowding QUOTANT. Laid out under pressure in the home straight. QUOTANT – Momentarily steadied near the 1100m when crowded for room by SPARTAN which shifted in. Shifted wider leaving the 700m to improve and raced wide from that point onwards. FAST DEALER – Rider A. Allen dropped his whip near the 200m. Race 2: Gladys & Mickey Brennan 4YO & Up Maiden Handicap – 1400m Connections were advised that a fine of $100 would be imposed for presenting COLLINGWOOD to the enclosure without its advertised gear of blinkers. Correct weight was delayed when Stewards considered an objection lodged by J. Taylor the rider of LUNAFREYA which finished 3rd against OUTBACK GLADIATOR (M. Murphy) being declared the winner on the grounds of alleged interference near the 100m and again near the 50m. After hearing all evidence and viewing the race day film, stewards could not be comfortably satisfied that the interference suffered by LUNAFREYA warranted an alteration to the placings and dismissed the objection and correct weight was given on the judges semaphored numbers. LUNAFREYA – Connections advised that it would be the intention to have the mare ridden back in the field if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly. Bumped becoming unbalanced near the 100m by OUTBACK GLADIATOR which shifted in when hanging in and was again hampered leaving the 50m. SUZY NEEDS LOVIN – Began awkwardly and shifted out. OUTBACK GLADIATOR – Slow to begin. Commenced to lay in shortly after entering the home straight and shifted in near the 100m bumping LUNAFREYA and then again shifted in leaving the 50m hampering that runner. Trainer C. Munce was advised that a warning would be placed on the racing manners of OUTBACK GLADIATOR. MAILLOT JAUNE MOI – After being caught wide in the early stages, improved forward to obtain the lead near the 950m. TEXAS TRAMP – Raced wide for the majority of the race. COLLINGWOOD – Over-raced in the middle stages. MA DUSHKA – A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding which was having its first start and tailed off, revealed no abnormalities. Race 3: Good Health to David Stanley Maiden Plate – 900m SUPADUDE – Fractious in the tie-up stalls prior to its race, was examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to start. Correct weight was delayed when the 3rd placegetter, Jockey A. Spinks (DREAM WEAVING) requested to view the patrol films to ascertain whether he had grounds to lodge a protest against the winner KINGSCOTE (H. Chau) in relation to interference over the concluding stages. After viewing the films, Jockey Spinks advised that he did not wish to proceed with a protest. KINGSCOTE – Shifted outwards shortly after jumping tightening runners to its outside. STELLAR – After being slow to begin was then hampered by KINGSCOTE which shifted out. PACKAGE – After being slow to begin was then inconvenienced by STELLAR which was forced outwards by KINGSCOTE. Raced greenly for the majority of the race. BELLITA – Shifted in near the 800m hampering DAFEENAH which had to be steadied and shift inwards. Held up for clear running for a short distance leaving the 300m. Laid out under pressure approaching the wining post. DAFEENAH – Steadied when hampered near the 800m. BOOMING TOWN – Shifted out under pressure leaving the 200m brushing DREAM WEAVING and forcing that runner wider. Shifted out near the 50m bumping DREAM WEAVING which shifted in. DREAM WEAVING – Forced wider leaving the 200m by BOOMING TOWN which shifted out. Shifted in near the 50m bumping BOOMING TOWN which shifted out. Raced four wide without cover for the majority of the race. Race 4: Happy Anniversary Bill and Donna Gates QTIS 3YO Maiden Handicap – 1400m As RED DENARO was advertised as a colt instead of a gelding, Trainer B. Hill was fined $100 for failing to enact a correct stable return. Public announcements were made to this effect. GITCHE GUMEE – Jumped outwards at the start tightening runners to its outside. HOSTWIN GENERATION – Tightened for room on jumping. Raced 3 wide without cover for the majority of the race. BELUSHI – Tightened for room at the start and lost ground. FOXY SECRET – Jumped inwards at the start tightening runners to its inside. BECANDLENI – Rider N. Tomizawa was questioned into the tactics adopted on the gelding today. N. Tomizawa advised stewards that he was instructed to gain cover as BECANDLENI had not been finishing off its races. However, after being placed at the heels of TELEREVE which did not improve through the race, he was obliged to race further back than he anticipated. Trainer L. Kelly confirmed those instructions and also advised he had expected the horse to be racing just off the pace. Whilst stewards noted the explanations, Mr Kelly was nonetheless advised of his obligations to advise stewards of any intention to alter the racing pattern of his runners. Race 5: Racing at Beaudesert July 25 Class 5 Handicap – 1200m Stewards accepted the explanation tendered by connections in regard to rider D. Griffin being dually engaged and replaced by rider S. Galloway on SNOWZONE. Trainer J. Aitkenhead was fined $100 for presenting VENI VIDI VICI to the enclosure with concussion plates when she had failed to notify this as a gear change. This was broadcast via media outlets. Ms Aitkenhead was also fined $100 for failing to have her treatment book up-to-date after a report from the QRIC integrity investigation team. BAREFOOT TYCOON – Slow to begin. SNOWZONE – Slow to begin. VENI VIDI VICI – Bounded in the air as the start was effected and lost ground. IVE GOTTA NEL – Over-raced in the early and middle stages. Race 6: Renew Your Membership Today Class 3 Plate – 900m As rider J. Guthmann-Chester was to be overweight, he was replaced on BAY OF DRAGONS by rider J. Taylor. J. Guthmann-Chester was fined $200. MOUNTAIN COURAGE – Began awkwardly. RED RAFFLE – Raced ungenerously for a short distance approaching the 700m when being crossed by MOONAN JOYCE. Laid out across the heels of SOCIAL near the 500m having to be steadied. BAY OF DRAGONS – Raced wide for the majority of the race. SOCIAL – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have sustained abrasions to the off hind hock. Race 7: Girls on Tour August 1 F&M Class 2 Plate – 1400m HIGHFALUTIN GAL – Slow to begin. ROSSMAY – Slow to begin. Momentarily forced inwards near the 250m. FEARLESS QUEEN – Shifted in under pressure near the 250m forcing ROSSMAY inwards. MISS MAKEPEACE – Shifted in approaching the 200m crowding PIGINARKI for room. PIGINARKI – Crowded for room approaching the 200m. RIGHTEOUSNESS – Raced 3 wide without cover for the majority of the race. Race 8: Skyline Restaurant Book Online C,G&E Class 2 Plate – 1400m Rider B. Pengally who was not riding at todays meeting was replaced by rider J. Guthmann-Chester on THE INVESTIGATOR. Trainer A. Plumb was fined $100 for failing to submit a stable return in that SAN PIERRE raced with synthetic filler in its front hooves. SAN PIERRE – Slow to begin. Shifted out near the 450m placing PHANTOM SHADOW in restricted room and having to be steadied. Rider A. Chau was advised to show greater care when shifting ground. ASTRAL KNIGHT – Slow to begin. SNIPPETSPEED – Slow to begin. Raced wide without cover for the majority of the race. PHANTOM SHADOW – Raced in restricted room near the 450m and was restrained. BRONCKS – Shifted out under pressure near the 100m crowding THE INVESTIGATOR which was racing to the inside of SNIPPETSPEED. App. S. Tomlinson was advised to show greater care when shifting ground under pressure. THE INVESTIGATOR – Crowded for room over the concluding stages. DUNEAGLE – When questioned into the performance, rider D. Griffin was unable to offer any tangible explanation and explained that the gelding travelled well throughout the race, however, failed to respond to his riding when placed under pressure leaving the 300m. Stable foreman P. Shailer, was at a loss to explain todays performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities and a swab sample was taken.
